Stayed for 9 days in March, 2013 This unit is one of the best in the complex, beautiful lanai with wide view of the water. The unit is large, well laid out, and the tile flooring is a plus. Kitchen amenities are updated and had everything we needed, plus a beautiful new BBQ. A/C in the master works great, ceiling fans throughout. The locks on the pass through window need replacing (not a security problem), and we had to ask for help getting the toilet to keep from running (fixed right away). Great to have wireless! Only very small complaint is that the TV is a bit older and small. The concierge was very helpful, our whale watching trip was awesome. We will be back! Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012 After a delayed start (United/Continental merger of their reservation system complicated by spring break traffic) caused us to miss a connecting flight and resulted in us arriving a day late... the frustration quickly evaporated when we arrived at this most lovely condo. It was the best and beyond our highest expectations... even better than the pictures on the website. It is beautifully appointed and extremely clean... the bed was heavenly and the views incredible. We were not only please with #1406 but we had our grown daughter, her husband and two grandchildren in #1501 which was also a beautiful condo but the kitchen was not quite as nice as ours. (It was great to be close but yet able to have some "alone time" when we needed it.) We walked to the beach every day and even took the beach walkway all the way to the Fairmont/Kea Lani. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants in the nearby Wailea Shopping Center (especially Tommy Bahama's and Longie's) But one of our best experiences was just staying in one evening and cooking steaks on the gas grill on the lovely patio! We will be back and we will recommend your #1406 to our friends and business associates. I have been an executive in the travel business for over thirty years and currently the Vice President of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau so we have traveled the world and stayed in some of the finest hotels and resorts but your condo #1406 ranks among our best experiences. Stayed for 36 days in February, 2012 We've been renting this condo for several years and it's slowly improved-furnishings, etc. This yr. we finally had wireless internet in the condo! Thank goodness! Condo still needs a better window cover on the window in the master bath, closet area. There is no privacy from the parking area/walking area to the pool and club house. Bed linens need to be replaced-sheets, pillow cases and bed spread in master. Appreciated new washer and dryer (we couldn't use the old dryer because it put brown marks on our clothing-for the last 3 yrs) and new dishwasher-unfortunately the rinse aide was $7.00 at the grocery store, so we still had to hand dry everything in the dishwasher to get rid of the hard water spots on silverware, etc. much better than the old one! 4 new patio chairs were a nice replacement for stretched and torn ones from years past. #1406 is slowing good steady updating, thank goodness! We walked down and a bit south to the beachwalk that is about 3 miles long for a nice walk along the ocean while the kids slept in. Our stay was fabulous. The best snorkeling location was Ahihi, at the south end of Maui about 10 minutes from this location. There were eels there but we read that they are quite harmless if you keep your fingers in while snorkeling. Paddle boarding was easier to catch a wave than surfing. Rent at Park Cove for 40 a day rather than at a resort for 40 an hour. Wear booties in the ocean or you may step on sea urchins. Aloha. Stayed for 14 days in May, 2011 Terrific view, but the condo is bare-bones basic in dire need of renovating...filthy bed pillows, towel bars that continually fell off the walls. If you cook, you have to be very innovative with what is provided in the kitchen. The noise factor is also a major consideration depending on the time zone your neighbors are from....8am to 10pm has no meaning to some guests nor does the management care. We have never voiced a negative opinion about a property, but we would not stay here again. The tile floors are a bit scary when wet; otherwise the decor was great. Having the boogie boards and chairs was a real plus when we went to the beach. The unit's location is terrific--a great view of the ocean, a short walk to the pool and a few steps to our parking space. Our only issue was that the A/C unit is very small for the bedroom and took the entire night to get it cooled down. A larger unit (and perhaps one in the other bedroom) would be greatly appreciated. Palms Wailea 1406 Bonnie O. from Calgary, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 15 days in May, 2010 We stayed at the Plams many times but this was our first in this unit. Overall, in comparison to others in a similar price range, it was ok. Pros of the unit were the view, spectacular! Also the location and proximity to the pool were great. Coldwell Banker who rented it to us were also great ad worked quickly to resolve any issues we had, thanks Kathy! Cons of the unit, its condiition is very dated, the stovetop takes ages to heat up, the toaster is a joke and barely works, and the pots,pans, etc are old. Coldwell did buy a new frying pan and cookie sheet at our request though. Everything about the unit is aged, linens and towels old and musty (even tough we tried to wash them), the bathrooms are just ok, and lots of spiders which suprised us as we have never seen that at the Palms before. Air cond in the master needs to be fixed as it barely blows and frankly teh owners should spend a bit of money on it in general. Buy some new loungers on the lanai, they are super old, and spend a bit of money on the appliances, pans, pots, linens, beach chairs and towels, spices, etc just to give it a freshening up. All that said, we would stay again if we can get a decent rate. I certainl would not pay over 200 per night for it as we have stayed at others in teh Palms for 195 that put this unit to shame. Also please get internet, this is the 20th century and your unit should have it! We could no access the internet at the pool and were forced to go to the Verizon store and buy a rocket stick for internet, which we need as two working professionals.
