Nice Re-treat with Facilities Joseph L. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2013 We enjoyed a quiet and comfortable stay at the Hali'i Kai and will recommend it to family and friends. The unit that we stayed in had a wonderful, spacious feel that accommodated two couples. The salt water swimming pool has a great design that combines aspects of privacy, landscape, relaxation, and definitely reinforces that fact that you've come to the right spot for vacation. The kitchen was great and we enjoyed cooking most of our meals and recommend that you make Walmart or Costco your first stop on your way in from Kona. There is an affordable grocery market located at the Waikoloa Village but if you wait to get on the property, you're paying top dollar at the King's & Queen's Shopping Areas. The living room and master bath were wonderful and spacious. The walk-in shower and tile and granite counter tops provided a nice accent that was noticeable. The washer and dryer units were a plus! The property management and staff provided a sincere sense of Aloha, not the fake/commercial kind that you get flying over on Hawaiian Air. Only a few issues to improve: the carpet was worn and the fitness facility was minimal, but you can't beat the view that you get from working the cardio equipment. There wasn't any dish soap for the dishwasher, but that's a minor issue. Other than that, I would definitely book the same unit again and to enjoy it, do so during low season. It is a wonderful space! |

Great Condo! A guest from Maryville, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2013 No complaints. We only rated location a 4 because of the long walk to the pool. Pool area was beautiful. Did not see a bug, as someone previously reported they did. |

Wonderful location on a wonderful island Jean F. from New York, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in January, 2013 Everything was just great. The kitchen was well equipped even down to having a rice cooker, which was great for our Japanese friends. Very pleasant two weeks and so much more relaxing than staying at a hotel. Thanks for a nice time. |

Nice but a few issues A guest from Edmonton, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in April, 2012 The actual property of Hali'i Kai was beautiful. The pool is gorgeous with a great view of the ocean. However, our condo had some issues. When we arrived, it looked like it had been cleaned but not cleand well. The countertop in the master bathroom had dust on it and the countertop in the other bathroom had spots left from soap from previous renters. The bathtub had sand and grit in it as well. Also, there was no dishwasher detergent, almost no papertowels and very little laundry detergent. We contacted our property management professional and he said he would send someone to re-clean and bring supplies. The next day we received dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent but no papertowels. They did not re-clean the unit. Many things require replacement in this unit, i.e. teflon pots and pans are very scratched up, some of the serving dishes are scratched as well, particularly the plastic ones, one of the glass plates had a crack in it. The bedspread in the second bedroom looked very old and used. It could use replacement. Overall this condo was nice, however, the people we were travelling with stayed in another unit at this resort and it was by far much nicer. All the furniture, TV's, dishes were much newer and well kept. We would probably stay at this resort again, but not in the same unit. |

Hali i Kai 3C A guest from Victoria, BC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 41 days in February, 2012 Many of my emails were not answered by the rental management prior to arrival. We were told that snorkel equipment would be made available and was not provided. Upon arrival the carpet was filthy. The kitchen was poorly stocked and there were no kitchen towels or microwave dishes. The bath towels were scant and worn. Both beds were extremely uncomfortable. The television in the Master bedroom did not work properly. The overall appearance of the unit was poorly decorated and dark. Many of my phone calls to the management company were not returned. |

Nice--small but nice A guest from Bellingham, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in January, 2012 Condo was about 1000 sq ft 2 bd, 2 bath. Had everything we needed. Nice kitchen, w/d, bathrooms, bedrooms. Carpet was filthy(stains) and the sofa seemed a bit on the musty side. Deck is pretty small and has a large high table and bar-be-que but was essentially unusable(no room)..For the price, though--good value. A little distance to the pool area which is awesome and has food and beverage service. Worth staying for that alone. |

January 2012 Waikoloa Bruce R. from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in January, 2012 Every aspect was well organized. A few services at the front desk like fax or printer/internet would upgrade our experience for very little money. |

Okay but broken/dirty/old items Kathleen E. from Rehoboth Beach, DE does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2011 We lost the key prior to our leaving and it was never replaced so we were unable to lock our belongings for 3 days. The linens smelled like old dirty hair and the rugs were filthy. The icemaker was broken and the grill was falling apart. |

A guest from Surrey, B.C. recommends this property.
Stayed for 13 days in July, 2011 We enjoyed our stay at Unit 3C at Hali'i Kai. We love the property overall. The unit was great. We enjoyed being on the golf course and the distance from the pool was no problem. One suggestion, more pots for cooking and a kettle for boiling water would help. It was great to have the 4 beach chairs and cooler. Maybe some better beach towels would be helpful too. It is nice to not have to pack along beach towels. |

Nice property, clean comfortable unit....but..... Maria & Jim M. from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2011 Our only issue was the master bedroom bedding smelled moldy and towels were left in the dryer from the previous renters. We contacted Kona Sunsets, who responded by picking up the comforter to send it to dry-cleaning to be renturned in time for the following rental week. Although that solved part of the problem, we did not get the benefit of this. We still had to rewash the sheets to get rid of the smell. As a gesture to make up for our discomfort, they could have offered us some sort of credit for our troubles or provided an interim maid service to wash the linens and remake the bed. |

Great Location and Spacious A guest from Calgary, Alberta recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2011 Liked the location and space in the 2 bdrm suite but was a little rundown and the the carpet needed to be replaced. Was fairly clean and had all the amenities we needed. Would have liked to see the front office be a little more helpful with tourist spots instead of just directing us to the Hilton for help. Property Manager Response: Response from Kona Sunsets Vacation Rentals This unit is rented through Kona Sunsets Vacation Rentals and not through the front desk at Hali'i Kai. Any questions regarding tourist spots should have been directed to our office. We have an extensive guest book at the property that covers just about anything that a guest would like to do on the Big Island, and we are available 24/7 to assist with any questions or issues that may arise. |

Halii Kai Family Reunion 2011 A guest from Faifax, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in February, 2011 The location of these condos is excellent and the property is beautiful and very well maintained. We appreciated the fact that basic necessities like paper towels, detergent, dishwashing detergent, etc. were provided for us. The only thing that would make the property better would be to upgrade the bedroom furniture and TV's. |

Excellent stay at Hali'i Kai 3-C Teo S. from New York, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in November, 2010 My husband and I enjoyed 8 days on the Big Island at Hali'i Kai. It was a wonderful condo resort with a beautiful pool/clubhouse area. The property is very well kept, and unit 3C had everything you needed. Even extras like boogie boards, beach baskets, laundry detergent and bug spray just happened to be there for your use in the condo. It was great! The rates for a 2 bedroom 2-bath unit was the best out of every one I had inquired. Booking was also very quick and easy. Check-in and check out were also a breeze even though we rented from a 3rd party and not directly with Halii Kai. Thanks again to everyone at Kona Sunsets Vacation Rentals for a wonderful stay filled with great memories. |

Outstanding area and a great place to stay - beats the local hotels hands down John & Teresa S. from Chandler, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in October, 2010 We stayed here during ironman week and had a fabulous time. The gated subdivision of this condo is incredible and the ocean front pool area is just perfect and very beutiful. This unit is located in the front of the subdivision back from the ocean and pool. It is a short walk to the pool and ocean front(They claim 7 mins, but it took us less, more like 5 mins). We thought it was a great touch that they have 4 beach chairs and a cooler in the unit. We used these to go to Mauni Kea and Hapuna Beaches (6 or 7 miles up the main road). Mauna Key beach was our favorite - but get there early there is limited parking. There great shady areas at the left (South side) of Mauna Kea beach that make it the perfect spot. Also good snorkling straight out from the far left side. The cafe at the ocean front pool area is handy and the people are nice. It is a little pricey. Again the unit is outstanding and the only thing we could find missing was an ironing board - they had an iron and we made do, but we suggested they get an ironing board too, so perhaps they have before the next visitors come. The price advantage of this place verse the local hotels can save you a lot of money. We shopped at Costco upon arrival and cooked most of our meals in the unit. They have a very wll equiped kitchen. If you pick this place you certainly won't be sorry. Enjoy your stay on the incredible big island!! |

Excellent vacation spot. Peter E. from Richmond, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2010 We had an excellent vacation staying at Hali'i'Kai. The town home was well appopinted, clean, nice lay out. The carpet is getting a little stained, but it's a minor point, compared with the many positives. Loved the Ocean Club - awsome pool, friendly staff. We'll be back. Property Manager Response: Response from Kona Sunsets Vacation Rentals The carpets have been professionally cleaned. |

A guest from Palo Alto, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in August, 2010 It would have been nice if a hair dryer was provided. Place was generally clean but some dirt marks on the doors & walls were noticeable. The management apologized for stains on the carpet which they didn't get a chance to take care of because the place was rented out continuously - which was acceptable.Overall a very nice condo in a good location. Exceptional price. |

The unit was booked back to back for 2 months and as soon as 2 days opened up we had the carpets professionally done. |

Hali'i Kai - 3C Brendan C. from Edmonton, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2010 We just finished our week stay at the Hali'i Kai resort. It was a great location down the Waikoloa Beach Drive. There are great shops and places to eat within 5 minutes. The grocery store is just down the road, but prices are marked up quite a bit.The Unit it self is located at the front of the complex, so it's easily accessible, but a far walk to the pool. The Pool is beautifully located and is a joy to sit at and look over the ocean. The restaurant is well priced and has a good selection of sandwiches and fresh options. Inside the unit, it is well stocked and very clean. The Master Bedroom is very big and quiet from the main area. Kitchen is well maintained and appliances are all new and work great. Towels and linens are in good shape and were pleased with the quality. The Main area is stocked with a nice LCD TV, Cable and wireless internet. The only complaint is that the rugs were quite dirty and stained. I would suggest the owners do a rub shampoo or change to tile to keep their customers a bit happier. For the most part, we were very pleased with our stay there and would definitely stay there again. |
