La Jolla Getaway Information
With more million-dollar homes that any other municipality in the United States, La Jolla certainly isn't for those who are looking to vacation on a tight budget. With picturesque cliff beach views, world class shopping, and dining to die for, La Jolla truly is the "Jewel" of the San Diego area. Just 12 miles north on I-5 from downtown, La Jolla is blessed with beautiful year-round weather and complemented by Mediterranean-style architecture. Any vacation to the San Diego area would not be complete without a stroll up and down the beaches and upscale boutiques in the area. Shop in style, if only for a day, and take it all in as you rub shoulders with some of the wealthiest of the wealthy.
Aside from all the money and natural beauty of La Jolla, there is actually quite a bit more to occupy your time during your visit. There are countless modern art galleries in the area, where local and international artists display their most recent works, both for show and for sale. Another point of interest are the harbor seals that flock to La Jolla cove and call it home. The area has been preserved and is open to the beautiful creatures all year, a colony which numbers near approximately 200 in number.
