As you walk in the door you have an open floor plan with the living room, dining area and step saver kitchen. Very retro and charming, this home is unique and fun. The living room features a Cable TV/DVD combo and a gas fireplace for those relaxing and quiet evenings. There are two bedrooms on the right that are linked by a central bathroom, one bedroom with a Queen size bed and the second has a Twin bed and Twin Bunk bed. On the other side of the main room, is a large master bedroom with King and it's own private bath. There is a large front and backyard perfect for children. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2011 Gas fireplace was not working & after calling no one was able to come out to fix the problem. Range hood was not working. In general I think more attention needs to be paid to the details of the property. We try to catch them before guests check in but that isn't always the case. We did get someone out to fix the problem as soon as we were able. Few issue's we were not told the loft area was off limits which we could have used the bed for a night or two, the beds throughout the house are very uncomfortable and would be nice if they are replaced the next time we come. The TV in the living room had bad reception which I fixed by repairing the cable connection, I also repaired the backset on the master bedroom door so it would shut. We appreciated the new living room furniture which was very comfortable as well as the extra TVs in the other rooms would have been nice to have one in the master bedroom. The fireplace ran out of gas the last night we were there, but was great while we were there. We want to thank the homeowners for allowing us to share there home. We try to rent a house from SSVR every year for the Thanksgiving from Wed trough a Monday and have stayed at may house's. Fun rustic family getaway Pam S. from Tigard, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2010 This was a cute rustic getaway for us - and happily, dog friendly. Many dogs in the neighborhood. Hounds that loved to howl when the tourist train went by. But they didn't go on for long. One recommendation would be to include more instructions in the renters manual - location of washer and dryer, crack open the kitchen window when cooking because the exhaust fan doesn't work, instructions for use of gas stove (it was repaired during our visit, but the instructions are not intuitive. For example, the fan doesn't come on until the stove heats up and the fan doesn't shut off until the stove cools down (despite you turning said fan off and on)). Great neighborhood to bike. Awesome beach! Mostly what I expected A guest from Renton, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2009 From the photos and description on the website, the property is mostly what I expected--not exactly a sparkling, modern rental house. Wood paneling and vintage 1980's decor were the order of the day. The house was very functional, however, with spacious master and 2nd bedrooms, a decent kitchen with a nice range and nicely clean bathrooms. There was a bit of a musty odor in the living/dining area, possibly due to old carpets or the mold in the windowsills. I was disappointed that there was no access to the 2nd floor loft and deck, didn't recall seeing a disclaimer to that effect in the description. Location was great--property was easy to find, quiet, and close to the center of Rockaway Beach. Property management was very helpful: booking was easy, and when we locked ourselves out of the unit, someone showed up in less than 30 mins. from Manzanita to let us in. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2009 The beds were in desperate need of new mattresses and did not have mattress covers on them. The bedding and towels were old and worn. The TV in the living room was an old console, at least 25 years old and only got two channels clearly. The deck was rotting in places and we were afraid to use it for fear of falling through it. This house has so much potential and could be really cute with a few upgrades, like mattresses and matching bedding and buying new towels, plus a better TV. WiFi would have been nice, too. Beachcomber Leila D. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2008 We stayed for 2 nights in the Beachcomber house with our 2 children and 2 dogs. It was wonderful. The house and amenities were on the older side but it was great for us with two kids as we were not to worried about trashing someones new beach house. The kitchen was well stocked though the linens in the room with bunk beds could have used a bit more freshening (musty). We were not brave enough to try and light the gas stove, the pilot had gone out... and we were to lazy to call management to help us. Washer had a lot of sand in it and did not do a very good job cleaning, nor did the dryer do a great job drying. All in all a nice little house, very close to the the beach, great deal for the price. Though next time we will stay somewhere where there are resturants and shops within walking distance and not on 101.
