Built almost 40 years ago, this beautiful cabin has been lovingly refurbished with up-to-date furnishings. A small private nearby lake (Lakewood Park Lake) is available for your use. All bedrooms have an individual sink; wonderful Family Room upstairs with satellite TV; one upstairs bedroom has a small sleeping loft which would be a fun sleeping area for a couple of children (not recommended for toddlers).Central air conditioning a big plus! Mr. Barnham searched for years for the perfect piece of property to build his mountain oasis and chose this location because it is so close to charming downtown Twain Harte and just below the snow line. It was built by the Barham family over five years and thousands of hours. Mr. Barnham went to the railyards to pick up pallets that he used for the wood on the walls. He split the wood pieces, routed each edge, and then put dowel holes in each. If you look closely at the walls, you will see that many of the pieces match exactly! Constructing these was like utting together a jigsaw puzzle. All the light fixtures and wrought iron work were also designed and built by Richard Barnham to make this home a true "jewel in the mountains".

We loved the large deck area. My complaints would be the showerheads were so low we had to bend down to get our heads under the water and some of the utensils needed updating in the kitchen because they were rusting and unusable. Nice place, but not close enough to the water A guest from Piedmont, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2010 Wouldn't want to go again to either of this year's houses, because they're too far from the lake. I'm 80 and Carl is 84, and it wasn't possible for him to walk that distance over to the lake. He was disappointed, because he likes to walk back and forth once or twice a day.. In the 2nd house, our kids and grandkids were back and forth all day long, of course, and they'd also much appreciate being closer. The rest of our vacation was fine, as it always is at Twain Harte!
