It was a little remote, but my girls enjoyed being able to explore the property. They got to pet the horses, dogs, and donkey. The only bummer was that the hot tube did not work. It would have been nice to jump into after being down at the cold beach. The management was great to work with. I would recommend this property to others. Good property in bad location with unhelpful property management A guest from Mt. Desert, Maine does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2012 House is good, well suited for rental as far as layout, amenities, etc. However, the neighbors clearly don't want this property rented and made it nearly impossible to get to building up huge spedbumps we bottomed out on every time we were coming and going on the shared road. The fire alarms went off and all that was done was to tell us this happened a few weeks ago and the battery was changed, which was the remedy last time. The note was left on a torn corner of an envelope, not very professional. We were then woken up four times the next night with screaming children in tow by the 'fixed' alarm. We were then told to unplug it ourselves as the solution. I know it was a Sunday, but for 350+ a night, that was not acceptable. The deck is huge and so is the common area of the house, our 2 year old had a lot of fun running around this house. It is very kid friendly. However, the barbeque does not work (it won't light and the burners are corroded. Also we were very disappointed that the price was dropped significantly after we reserved the house. We contacted the management company and were told that we would not be receiving the cheaper rate. It should have also been made more clear in the description of the house that it is at the end of a very long gravel road with very large speed bumps. The SUVs has no problem getting to the house, but all of our cars bottomed out on the road. SUV/Truck required. But several negative points: - the house is white with blue trim and NOT Blue house with white trim ( it took us 1h to find it in the dark, horrible indications)- the agency make us pay more than it was indicated on tripadvisor ( I had to negociate to get the price a bit down)- $125 cleaning fee but some towel were durty with spots on it, and they ask us to start cleaning the sheets !- no sugar, olive oil... that are usually available in this kind of house rental- 5 remainders for the "non party policy" : we got it, no need to tell that 5 times.Positive points:- jaccuzi was warm when we arrived late- very spacious and nice house- very calm- very nice deck and BBQ		Overall Satisfacation show detailed scores Services from rental manager Cleanliness Location Property Condition

I understand that this is unfortunately a real issue, due to negative experiences with locals throwing large rowdy parties and damaging property, and it makes sense that you need exercise concern. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2011 The house is nice and up to snuff as described, but I have let others know that it is up a rather narrow dirt road. We did have a party there which is against the agreement which I read later, the next morning we cleaned up and picked up but they knew of our party and charged me an extra $100 for cleaning which just could not be right since no way the place needed an extra 4 hours of cleaning, when I emailed mu opinion I didn't get a reply. Our level of cleaing is very high and the floors, hot tub and Kitchen where a mess. We maintain our homes at a high standard and expect our guest to respect our contract. Gorgeous, Quiet Retreat Sarah C. from Newcastle, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2011 We just loved our stay at Spruce Grove. Though it is a bit challenging to find the street, once you do find it, you'll love the serenity and quiet! The home is very spacious with wood floors throughout. Fabulous, well-stocked kitchen. It was sized perfectly for our group with four adults and three kids with 2 roll-away twin beds, plus the spacious bedrooms. Loved the french doors out to the huge patio in the back from two of the bedrooms. Really felt like a retreat in the forest. Great hot tub! You can even hear the sea lions in the distance at night. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2011 Not much to say....beautiful house, beautiful property, beautiful surroundings, beautiful city!!!! The house was amazing and GIGANTIC!!! more then we expected. BBQing on the enormous deck and hot-tubbing at night. Our family had a great time. The neighbors were great and did not take exception to the kids petting their friendly animals (horses, donkey, goats, dogs).It is hard to come up with anything we disliked about the house or property, however, if I had to list the one and only thing, I would have liked to seen empty trash cans in the garage when we arrived. All of the cans were full from the previous guests, and we had to stack the trash in the garage (in bags)next to the full cans. Again, that was the one and only downside to our entire stay so what does that tell you!!! Enjoy the house, we can't wait to go back.
