Beautiful but needs a couple fixes Richard M. from Boston, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2012 It was very nice. But the flu needs some fixing - house filled with smoke; and the oven needs a big clean. Also made the house fill with smoke. Property Manager Response: Response from Franconia Notch Vacations Hello Mr. Macmillan. Thank you much for the feed back as it is most helpful in our maintaining an enjoyable experience for all our guests. We assure that since your departure the oven and stove have both been detail cleaned, with our apologize there. As for the fireplace flues (there are two), they can be a bit tricky to understand and operate so we will be making a 'diections sheet' for each, while also having them both professionally inspected to be sure they are operating as they should. Thank you again for the chance to correct the items you have made mention of. |

Butternut Lodge stay Aug 2012 Thomas M. from Ann Arbor, MI recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 We were afforded the rare opportunity to stay in both a historical and beautiful setting. We did know that Betty Davis had Butternut Lodge contructed prior to our stay. However, we were not aware that the lodge consisted of transported buildings (Old Barns) from Vermont.Just the home itself and the settings around it were spectacular. We were also pleasantly pleased with the locations proximity to other major attractions within the states of New Hampshire and Vermont. We were able to see several of the famous notches within the state and were able to readily access Mt. Washington via the cog-train.I wish that we had more time as there were still many more things to do within the area.Sincerely,Thomas Marshall |

Butternut Ski Weekend Margaret R. from Boston, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2012 The Butternut Lodge was a great place to stay for a close family. The main floor has 2 gorgeous fireplaces and plenty of space to socialize. The flow of the upstairs is a bit challenging unless you are close with the group. One has to walk though bedrooms to get to bathrooms. But great location! |
