Combining the look of an old-fashioned beach house with the high-tech comfort of a Certified Wellness Home, our Barracuda House is the perfect place to stay. Just a stone's throw from the beach, it has all the amenities you need for a relaxing vacation.
Barracuda is a Nikken Certified Wellness Home, boasting a PiMag water filter, a comprehensive air wellness system, and infrared sleep technology. Imagine -- you can spend a fun-filled vacation at the beach while improving your health! The Barracuda House also includes 2 HDTVs both with Blu-ray Dvd players/Netflix accessible.
Barracuda is located in a small oceanfront group of homes that share a pool, clubhouse, and private beach access. It's known as a "house dominium," because it has all the advantages of a condo combined with the privacy of a freestanding house. Best of all, it's just yards from the beach -- you can glimpse the ocean from our patio!
The first feature you will notice when you enter Barracuda House is not the house itself but the splendid second-storey deck running the entire length of one side! With room for seating, it's covered to give you a pleasant bit of shade, so you can enjoy the balmy breezes and smell the zesty sea air all day long. It's a great spot for that final glass of wine in the moonlight, too.
Inside, our house contains 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, plus 2 living rooms -- one upstairs, one downstairs -- so your group has plenty of room to spread out. (It's perfect for 2 families traveling together, or for groups with teenagers who crave privacy!) Everything is airy, sunny, and spacious, with a laid-back vibe that makes you feel right at home immediately.
Both of our living rooms are comfortable and roomy, with relaxing couches, TVs with DVD players and VCRs, plus a wide selection of family-friendly books, videos, and DVDs. These are great places to enjoy a family night in, or simply to recover after a busy day at the beach or sightseeing. Kick back with a frosty beverage and watch the big game on TV, or turn on some quiet music and let the kids wind down with their toys before bedtime. Even if part of your group is watching a movie downstairs, the others can be enjoying quiet time above!
Although you'll probably be eating out on the deck for most meals (who can resist?), our dining room is a sun-splashed delight, with a long table, plenty of seating, and that wonderful feeling of sunshine on your back! After the meal, clear the dishes (that's what dishwashers are for!) and break out the board games. Snacks and drinks are just a reach away in our well-appointed kitchen, and the space is so comfortable that you might just find yourself making a night of it. Our dining room table is also a great place to set up your laptop; you have free wireless Internet at Barracuda House.
The kitchen is a chef's delight, fully stocked with all the cookware, dishes, gadgets, and utensils you would want to prepare and serve a feast. Even if your vacation fare tends toward restaurants and take-out, you'll appreciate the convenience of the microwave, blender, icemaker, and other time-savers.
When it's time to retire for the night, you will find each of our bedrooms cozy, relaxing, and ultra-comfortable. The master bedroom is enormous, with a king-size bed and huge windows for admitting sunshine and moonlight. Once you see this lovely room, you'll plan on retiring early and sleeping late!
The second and third bedrooms are also beautiful, with queen-size beds plus plenty of space and light. Two full bathrooms are provided with all of the towels you need for your stay. And there is even a queen-size sofa bed in the living room! You'll find linens, blankets, and pillows waiting for you here, fresh and crisp. We've also got a washer and dryer, so pack light and never worry about clean clothes or fresh towels!
You will love Barracuda House! The tiny Surf Crest Village complex is intimate, uncrowded, and private!

Could use a refreshing Amanda D. from St. John's, NF recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2013 This unit has potential but is dated. Much like visiting someone's cabin. The carpets were very dirty and most of the paint could use a touch up. The home boasts being a wellness home, but it doesn't have that feeling. If you do not like religious parephanalia or books, this place is not for you. Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Amanda - I just received your feedback and wanted to personally thank you for taking the time to fill out our survey. I apologize for the maintenance issues. This is not up to standards at all. I will email you directly on this. I have already contacted my property manager to get these fixed. You and your family are welcome back any time. |

Dated property but excellent location Vivek S. from Stuart, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2012 Location of the property was very good, close to parks, grocery, restaurants and right off the beach. The house we lived in was a bit dated. We saw cockroaches crawling around which was not cool. Hope the home owner takes note and gets some pest control people to go in. Otherwise the property was quite spacious with two living rooms with two TVs, fully equipped kitchen, WiFi, a nice porch, lots of board games and a private access to the beach from the property. Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Vivik - Thank you for taking the time to share this information with us. We appreciate the feedback, and we hope that you will consider renting from us again next time. I'd like to offer you a coupon good for $50 off your next stay. Just enter the coupon code rebook50 when you reserve your rental! Thank you again for your comments. |

WOW! Beautiful location, easy access to beach, quiet community... A guest from Yorkville, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2012 Coming from the chicago area to visit family, 6 grown adults and one baby we needed a location convienent to the Fl family and yet gave us our own place. The 30 somethings wanted a vacation and this was a perfect location for beach walking, surfing, and conveneint to St Augustine sights and stores. The house was perfect with the seperate living areas, baby and parents up stairs close to kitchen and living area, and others using the lower living area. just PERFECT! Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Cathy - Thank you for taking the time to share this information with us. We appreciate the feedback, and we hope that you will consider renting from us again next time. I'd like to offer you a coupon good for 10% off your next stay. Barracuda House in October A guest from Charlotte, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2012 Overall, we had a nice long weekend stay at the Barracuda House. The deck was wonderful to eat at, you can see glimpses of the beach from there and definitely hear it. The house is dated, but clean. The appliances are not quite old enough to be called antiques, but we could deal with that. One HUGE annoyance was the abundance of post-it notes & paper taped EVERYWHERE. The had conflicting instructions on how to care for the house. One central book might be nice. (by the way, the blue book on white table the notes refered to could not be found!) Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Patricia - I just read your comments, and I want to thank you for the great input. At VRP we take our customers' feedback very seriously, and to show our thanks, I'd like to give you a coupon code good for 10% off your next rental. When you reserve your property, just enter rebook10. Hope to see you and your family again soon! --Steve Milo, 904 385 3888, Vacation Rental Pros, 6233 A1a South, St. Augustine, FL 32080 |

Family Rental Weekend Samantha H. from Clearwater, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2012 The property was clean and location was great, but the upstairs living room furniture was very old and uncomfortable. Overall the house felt dated and old. The rental company was very easy to deal with and responsive when needed. While the location was great, I would probably look for a "fresher" house for our next stay. Our 1st vacation in 4 years Lynda D. from Stockbridge, GA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 The reviews on this location mentioned that rental was outdated. I asked the agent about the reviews and was told if someone complains about a rental it gets fixed. The outside of the building looked fine. The outside shower deck is rotten. Went entering the building we were transported back to the 80's. The bottom level soafs were worn out,not comfortable to sit, let alone sleep on. The sofas upstairs were in worse then the down stairs. I flipped the pillows and when I did I found pieces of lumber under the seats to give them support so you wouldn't be sitting on the floor. No matter when you did you could not sit on these sofas long. Could not sleep on either of the sofa beds. The house looked like it had original furniture that came with the house 30 years ago or it had been bought in a yard sale. Bedroom had a china cabinet sitting in it and there was no drawers if you wanted to unpack. Drawers were filling with stuff that belonged to the owners. The kitchen had vinyl tile stuck to the walls that was coming off. Silverware drawer had forks that were filthy with dried up food. Bathrooms had mold on the tile. Carpets look like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Hallway lights no covers. The table only had 3 chairs (found a couple of folding ones in the master bedroom closet.) Mattresses hard as a brick, because they had magnet bed pads on the beds. The toilets were small and sat only 14 inches from the floor. We've come to St. Augustine for over 25 years and never stayed in a place this run down. This place was not nice,at all,I have pictures and would be glad to send. I would never stay at this unit again. Pray the owners take time to upgrade or take it off the rental market. Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Lynda - I just received your feedback and wanted to personally thank you for taking the time to fill out our survey. I apologize for the maintenance issues. This is not up to standards at all. I will email you directly on this. I have already contacted my property manager to get these fixed. I missed not having ESPN. Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Richard - On behalf of all of us here at VRP, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your rental experience. Disappointed!! Briana T. from Clay city, KY does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 We recently rented the property baracuda house and the description is somewhat true! A stones throw to the beach is over exaggerating to say the least, I don't know if someone who plays in the major league could throw that far!! A glimpse of the ocean for this property means if u stand sideways in the dining room looking out side window u can see a little of the ocean!! The house is very very dated which made it seem alot dirtier than it probably really was, carpet was disgusting, house had a weird smell, front deck was falling in and caused several accidents during the week!! The only good thing was the village the house was located in which really had nothing to do with the house!! The pool which is public use for all the homes there was very nice!! The house along with the rain of tropical storm debbie for 4 of the 7 days we were there made this vacation for our family one we never want to encounter ever again!! Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Briana - I just received your feedback and wanted to personally thank you for taking the time to fill out our survey. Yearly vacation to St. Augustine A guest from Acworth, Georgia does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 To say we were shocked at the condition of this unit is a major understatement. I've never been so disappointed in a vacation place in all my life. The place was very dirty, musty, smelled and all the carpet was stained. The furniture was old, worn out and very uncomfortable. Very limited cable access and WiFi was also very weak. Every year we visit St. Augustine and Surf Crest, but I can honestly say that is the last time I will stay in that particular unit. We stayed in #16 last year and the weekly price was the same and it's been significantly upgraded. Our entire family was completely shocked at the condition of the house and are surprised that the weekly charge is as high as it is compared to the other units. Very, very disappointing. Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Lisa - I just received your feedback and wanted to personally thank you for taking the time to fill out our survey. I apologize for the carpet cleaning issues. This is not up to standards. I will contact my house keeper. You and your family are welcome back any time. |

Barracuda house A guest from Starkville, MS recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2012 House is in a great location; beach is just steps away. House is acceptable for its age, but could use some maintenance and freshening up. TV cable coverage is low-end (no ESPN and here it is March madness!); internet works fine. Our family had a great time here. Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi David - Thank you for taking the time to share this information with us. overall, a wonderful place Christopher S. from Union, MO recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2011 The house was a very nice place to stay in. Had plenty of room for my family and a friends family. Place was clean. We were impressed with the updated tv's in both livingrooms. Made it a good time to watch movies with the kids in the evenings. Only a few complaints to be had. The chain for the light in one of the lower level bedrooms was missing, so we couldn't turn it on. We love to grill, so it was dissappointing to find it really dirty and then it didn't even have any propane, so we couldn't use it. Don't feel we should have to replace it. Also, the frame on the patio door was coming apart, so I didn't like the kids being around that. Like I said though, it was a really nice place to stay despite a few drawbacks. Property Manager Response: Response from Vacation Rental Pros Hi Christopher - I just received your feedback and wanted to personally thank you for taking the time to fill out our survey. A guest from Manchester, TN recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in June, 2011 I was pleased with our stay, just afew words about the cleanlines...the grill caught on fire each time even on low and we could not sit on balcony due to the odor from the grill. Also, I thought the master bedroom pillows were not very fresh and used. Maybe the cleaning crew needs to be checked on a little more....the blinds were very dirty. A friend owns a rental condo, so I know this is always an issue with them trying to stay on top of the cleanness. Kitchen needs help Dolores V. from Blairstown, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 29 days in February, 2008 Overall, the condo was very nice, BUT, I had to buy hangers, there were only a few and no dressers to store anything in. The kitchen utensils were minimum to say the least, not enough pots to cook a meal or enough measuring cups, etc. It was a very 'basic' set up and needs more for anyone staying more then a week. I've stayed in condos that were set up for 'real' living. |
