The lanai is the showpiece of Oasis Drive House. Running the length of the house and accessible from 2 of the bedrooms as well as the living room, it has a panoramic view of the coast. The murmur of the surf is clearly audible here, the air has a pleasing salt tang, and the sunrise performs for you each day! There's plenty of room to sit, dine, or lounge here, with shade overhead and a cooling ceiling fan that makes the lanai pleasant even at high noon in August. And right outside the door is your own personal walkway to the beach, complete with a shower and a conversation bench!
When it's time to go indoors, settle into our open-plan living room and dining area. With high ceilings, cool tiled floors, ceiling fans, and plenty of windows, this space is airy and full of light. The ocean view is lovely, and in winter the fireplace makes the room quite cozy. Gather around our big TV and DVD player and watch your favorite movie, or let the kids see their shows while the grown-ups play a little Texas Hold 'em at the dining room table. There's room for everyone to stay together while pursuing their own activities.
The dining room is also a good place to set up the laptop. You have free wireless Internet at Ocean Drive House, so make this area your center of business, even if "business" means checking the opening times of your next sightseeing adventure and updating your Facebook status ("Falling in Love with St. Augustine Beach!"). And of course the table can be used for meals, too . . . though those tend to get taken out to the lanai!
The kitchen is convenient to the dining area, and you will find it well-appointed and spotlessly clean. A full breakfast bar with padded chairs encourages early diners to keep the cook company, and the well-stocked cabinets provide everything you need for home cooking. And if you have placed a ban on cooking this vacation, the microwave is perfect for reheating the takeout!
The bedrooms at Ocean Drive House are just as airy as the rest of the house, and offer ultra-comfortable beds that make every night peaceful. The master suite is truly palatial, with a king-sized bed, large TV, and sliding glass door access to the lanai. The en suite master bath boasts a separate powder room, his-and-her vanities, and walk-in shower with safety seat.
The second bedroom also has sliding glass door access to the lanai and a large TV. It offers a double-sized bed. And the third room, ideal for children but charming to all ages, sports 2 twin-sized beds, a huge arched window, TV, and whimsically painted dresser and nightstand. Big and airy, it's a good play place as well as a snug spot to sleep.
Ocean Drive House is thoroughly comfortable, completely furnished family home. Here you'll find all the linens, towels, blankets and pillows you need for all the bedrooms and baths, plus a laundry room to keep all your own clothes fresh and clean. Ocean Drive Beach House Carol A. from Tampa, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2013 The location of this house is perfect. Close to Publix/Winn Dixie, CVS, and lots of great restaurants. Try Wildflower and the Purple Olive, both only about a 3 minute drive south on A1A. It only takes about 20 minutes to get into downtown (give yourself time to park). The house was clean when we arrived and everything was working well. It is very well stocked. The beach location is great. We rented beach bikes, and were able to keep them in the garage--if you want to bike to the beach, the walkway is only two houses away. If you want to step out of your yard onto the beach, you have a private walkway for that. My favorite spot was the conversationbench0great place to have coffee and watch the sunrise, or sit after dark to hear the ocean and watch the moon rise. There are some things that could be updated. The mattresses are hard as a rock, and the pillows are flat. Bring your own pillows. As far as a beach rental, the furnishings met my minimum expectations. This was definilty a good value though, for a week on the beach. When you drive up to the house it is hidden in the corner, so you cannot see it from the road, unless you know where to turn off. The house had everything we could have needed and is such a simple, easy layout. The location could not have been better. We were there at a cool time of year and the backyard was the perfect (warm) spot. The house was easy, clean, open, and sunny. Although it has way too many knick-knacks that could easily get broken and took up all the possible shelf space. They make the house look cluttered. LOVE the house; not the knick-knacks. 10 Ocean Drive Barbara M. from Oconoowoc, WI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 14 days in March, 2013 The location was the best thing about this house. Obviously someone is no longer paying attention to the upkeep. Cleaning was minimal-dirt in corners of all floors & base boards were cleaned sometime in the last century. Master bedroom's mattress & linens were completely worn out and the closet looked like a blind person was putting things away in there. Latch on gate to beach was falling off and the garage was a mess. When we went to use the grill we had to prop up one leg so it didn't tip over. Kitched sink faucet was leaking and the laundry room had was filled with all of the small appliances that no longer worked. Definitely not worth the money we paid & although I rent a house at least once a year for vacation I will not rent this one again--and certainly not trust VRPros again either. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 We enjoyed our stay, the house had a lot of light thanks to the large sliding glass door facing the ocean and the 2 skylights were great!The sliding door in the living room however was very difficult to open and close (the track needs to be cleaned and lubricated), and while the write up indicated that the lanai was accessible from the two bedrooms , those two sliding glass doors did not open, and that was disappointing. You also might want to check the steps going down to the beach as one of the boards is loose and needs to be nailed back. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 We had the perfect beach vacation in the BEST setting possible. Grandparents, Parents, and 2 grandchildren, 9 and 7. There were 6 of us total. The screened in porch was fabulous. The "board walk" to the private access to the beach was perfect. Every morning and afternoon while walking on the board walk we saw bunnies, tortises, grasshoppers, etc., Everyone including adults really enjoyed searching for the wildlife as we walked to the beach. The benches were perfect for having a cup of coffee in the morning watching the sunrise. We loved sitting there! The house was perfect for all of us. If we owned the house, we would make the main bathroom a little bigger with larger counter space. However as a vacation home, it worked perfect! We LOVED this place. Thank you. Stayed for 6 days in March, 2012 The house at 10 Ocean Drive is a beautiful place, with a lovely lanai that spans the length of the house and faces the dune and the ocean. The private access to the beach is great also. We had a great vacation there and enjoyed the property very much. Our arrival was a bit disappointing, however, because when we arrived after driving all day with 2 1/2 year old twins who were cranking and tired, we were told that the house was not ready for us, because it had not been cleaned yet. We had already gone to eat and driven around waiting for the 3:00 time when we could arrive at our rental house. We ended up just going to the house and waiting on the lanai, but we couldn't really relax and unwind until she was finished. The garbage had not been picked up from the previous week, so there was some confusion about that but that was worked out nicely by VRPros. Overall, we would highly recommend this site as a great place to stay on the beach...especially if you have children! Ocean Visit Herb E. from Gainesville, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012 The rental property location is excellent except for the close proximity of the neighboring houses. On our first night the neighbors on the left were noisy until almost 2 AM making sleeping on that side of the house an impossibility. Thankfully this was not a habitual problem or it would have made the trip a horrible experience. Whenever there is noise generated on that side of the house, peaceful sitting on the porch is an impossibility. Also, a better description of the workings of the the dish/cable system would have been beneficial. A review of the kitchen would be beneficial also. The working of the stove burners was intermittent and problematic and the utensils provided were with many duplications and some missing essentials. The walkway to the beach had more than one step in need of repair. This will causes a potentially dangerous situation. The beach was wonderful. On the whole, a good time was had by all. Lovely beach house on beach conveniently located on St Aug Bch Carolyn W. from Fleming Island, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2011 Arrived and rental was very dirty. Beds not made, nasty bathrooms, dirty floors and outside tables, no one had come to clean prior to our arrival. Upon arrival and a phoone call maintenance came and housekeeping cleaned Bathrooms. Should have been done prior to arrival. Disappointed in dirty appearance. Dog hair all over floor with broken glass when we swept floor later. If it had been clean it would have been great. Kitchen fully stocked with pans and some spices. Staff attentive and helpful. Great place to escape while being conveniently located near restaurants, grocery stores, spas, salons, shopping. Would stay again but want house clean before arrival. Would have preferred Q bed instead of Twins in 3rd Bedroom. Great time and nice location.
