Great home - No entrance first night a fright A guest from Sonoma, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2011 No key being at the lock box upon our arrival after-hours made worse even when no answer was had at the after hours phone numbers... While the Prop Mgr was sincerely apologetic once our message was collected - the facts were that we were on our own to find other lodging at 9pm in a very small town.Our opinion is that just crediting back the first night was not an adequate adjustment given we had to cope with booking multiple rooms, keeping food chilled a full night, and eating out the next AM etc. No inquiry was made to see if the night's credit made us whole for the costs incurred to make do... Took 2 hours of 3 people hard labor to dig us out. Very inconsiderate, and unnecessary as we saw the house 2 doors down had an open driveway that the snowplow driver had taken caution to avoid locking in. Also, unless you have a 4 wheel drive, snow chains are not enough on the windy, steep road (Moses) in new snow, even plowed. One vehicle went into a snow bank despite snow chains while trying to negotiate a sharp, narrow turn onto Moses. THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE, nor Television service. It snowed so much the power went out for 3 days but the cabin was equipped with emergency supplies. Gas stoves, wood fire place, lanterns and LED lights. Sledding hill just a block from the house and the pond close by too. Our stay was unusual but the whole family loved the cabin and would be willing to go again. With bad weather it took almost 30 minutes to drive to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. A great winter family trip. Combined with the fact that we couldn't get mobile phone coverage caused an unpleasant experience with Twain Harte Vacation Rentals. I think it was an honest mistake, but it did cause a family of 5 to drive around for a 45 mins or so trying to figure out what to do... House is a bit difficult to find in the snow. Parking is a problem if more than 2 cars but you can park down at the lake and have someone bring you up to the house. The house is very beautiful. It is a newer home with interesting details. Nice wood interior and cozy family room. Beautiful flooring. Kitchen was nice and understated. Lots of games and movies. No cable. Upstairs bath has a clawfoot tub. Didn't have a chance to peruse the outside of the property since it was snowing. The cabin lacked cable or satelite television which poses a problem when you have small children and there is not much else to do up there when it is cold. Also, the description of the cabin stated there was a bbq on site. There was NO bbq to be found which made it difficult to cook the food we specifically brought to cook on a bbq. Also, not sure if it is the lay out of the house or poor insulation, but any little sound made in the house could be heard no matter where you were in the house. It made sleeping very difficult when it sounded like the people down stairs where in your room with you upstairs. Also the picture of the house is very deceiving. It does not show the long steep stair case you hall all of your luggage down to get into the house. Nor does it clearly explain the lack of parking, our two cars barely fit in the small space provided.
