We had plans of watching movies, playing video games, using the hot tub, and relaxing. Unfortunately the electronics provided are very outdated, and didn't support our things (No blue ray, or tv's that take HDMI cables) So, we had to go buy the cords needed. The circular staircase was really neat looking, but didn't feel very sturdy. The sub floor around it also didn't feel safe when you walked over it. It literally sunk down in. As for the hot tub, it was warm, and nice for a couple of people, but only 1 jet worked. There were a TON of racoons around. Be carefull when outside, although they are friendly, and just looking for food. The view was fantastic. I was a little curious what the chalet above this one is used for. There was some MAJOR partying going on up there. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2012 i have to start bu saying a paid seasonal rates at their top dollar and some things did not work and we had to wait 24hrs to get them fixed. could not enjoy the deck and hot tub due to nasty raccons that stayed on the deck all the time and had bowel movements on the hot-tub. the beds were very hard to sleep on and ended up sleeping on the leather couch every night and that was not what i had paid for, yet there was specific rules i had to follow or i would be charged extra. i went there to get away from a very stressful last few months. i have to admit i was very disappointed with the cabin as well as the response i got when i called. however, most things were fixed within 24hrs. i did not get to use the hot-tub at all or usage of the fireplace, because it wasnt turned on, and it did get cold at nights. There were a total of 12 adults and 5 children. The cabins location is awesome and the views were incredible. The cabin was clean though there were some minor issues that in no way affected the quality of the stay. The bedrooms were comfortable but kind of small on my opinion, but comfortable none the less. The theater/game room was nice and the kids really enjoyed the arcade games. The deck and hot tub were the highlights and I cannot say enough about the view. First of all, the inside stairway was difficult to negotiate with luggage; it is way too narrow for safety. Second, cobwebs were noted in a few places in the windows. The game room smelled pretty bad...we had to purchase and air freshener. There was a pile of saw dust on top of the curtain rod and a pile on the window sill. One morning we woke up to thousands of flying bugs on the end table, couches, and floor in the living room. As I was vacuuming, I found old food (that wasn't from us) on the floor. I think the worst thing of all was that most of the bottom floor windows were unlocked when we arrived. It made us feel a little unsafe. The pictures online were deceiving. It is obvious the pictures were taken when the cabin was brand new...how many years ago??? However, the cabin was dirty, stove half worked, air conditioner went out and was NOT fixed during our stay, vacuum was broke (my husband repaired it so we could clean before my 10mth old crawled around), filter on return was CAKED with dust/dirt, etc. We called the office and they sent maintenance over who walked 2 steps in the door and brought us towels to clean with!! After we paid a $110 cleaning fee!! Again, beautiful location and it's a shame the cabin is so rundown and unkept. Very unsatisfied and will not rent from American Mountain Rentals again...pics on internet are VERY deceiving....not worth money by any stretch. We were disappointed that the home theater room did not get any kind of TV feed to it, DVDs only. The lower deck is very large but is only accessed through 2 bedrooms or from the upstairs outside. Very small spiral staircase leads down to lower 4 bedrooms, warning to the elderly or small kids. Overall we still had a great time but plan to locate a different cabin next year. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2010 We noticed upon our arrival that the home had a strong mildew smell. This is a concern as we have children with allergies and asthma. We experienced a severe thunder/rain storm during our stay only to find out that there were numerous leaks in the bedroom, living room, and game room. We used all of the pans and our personal coolers to collect the water. Water was also pooling in at the front door that wasn't sealed. Numerous nails on the decking were sticking up which caused a cut foot of one of the children. The water was a serious concern. I am glad we were present when the storm began so that we could move bedding, cameras, and other personal items to prevent damage.The picture showed two video arcade games. We initially had one but one was delivered on our last day. We did find the home to be equipped with everything that we needed and we enjoyed the location/view. I was able to see daylight through places in walls and windows were not very energy efficient,thus making it difficult to be cool inside. Refrigerators did not keep beverages very cold. I will say management did respond quickly to removing trash when called. I'm sorry, but I would not recommend this cabin with the conditions we found. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2010 We always wanted to rent a house in the Smokey Mountains. We finally did it. We made all the plans and set out to drive the seven hours to the house. We really didn't know what to expect, but we were thoroughly thrilled when we drove the winding roads to the house and came to the top where we found the most beautiful setting. It was everything that we were led to believe. It was wonderful. There were 7 people (ages 60 - 95 years old) who wanted to meet in a central location. Four of us drove from Virginia and three from Missouri. The house was perfect. We had early morning coffee on the fantastic decks followed by breakfast on the big table. At night we played cards and laughed away the hours. We were at first concerned about the winding staircase to the first floor, but it ended up being good exercise. The roads are steep, so would probably not attempt to come in the winter, but Spring was just great. We would recommend this place to anyone, starting from the wonderful, friendly people who took our reservation all the way through to our check out. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2009 Although there were several positive elements to our stay at Heaven's View, the negatives definitely outweighed them, especially considering the premium we paid for our one week stay - $4,000! -The two arcade games and hot tub were not operational upon our arrival. The hot tub was fixed after 3 days and several calls (and one visit) to the rental office. The arcade games were never fixed, and after the third day, the rental company simply stopped returning our phone calls about the needed repairs. We were referred by the desk clerk to speak with managers - Jeff or Mike. We left messages for both and neither called us back. One of the main reasons we chose this cabin was because it had the arcade games to entertain the teenage boys in our group. When I suggested a discount on our rental price might be appropriate due to the fact that these were never fixed, I was referred again to the manager, Jeff - who never returned my call.- The cabin was really dirty. Every surface was coated in dust (fireplace mantel, vents, floorboards - the curtains were literally fuzzy). When we used the jacuzzi tub in the master bath a thick brown foam filled the tub. The washcloth we retrieved from the bottom of the tub was solid brown. It was truly disgusting. We moved a small dresser in our bedroom a few feet to fit in our suitcase and found all kinds of trash behind it. Corners of our bathroom were black with dirt and the linoleum was peeling. We had a really gross feeling being in this cabin.-The cabin probably felt a lot nicer/cleaner when it was newer. But at the point of our stay, carpet edges were beginning to fray and peel up, and other elements were showing how the cheap construction was starting to show wear. - A portion of the kitchen ceiling opened up during our stay and poured down small pellets of insulation all over the counter. After two days, the maintenance man did come and caulk the opening to prevent further spillage. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2009 The property need some cleaning they were dead flies in the window sills, the stove wasn't clean at all the oven had been cleaned but the ash wasn't cleaned out of it. It was very dusty, the furniture needed a good cleaning, the ceiling fans in the living room had dust webs hanging from them. The hot tub wasn't properly filled back up, the cover which was broken was leaned up against the wall and had racoon feces all over it, also the porch hadn't been cleaned around the hot tub. The maintenance man was very prompt in responding to fix the hot tub and was very polite and professional, he also cleaned the porch which was not his job. I think that the owners would be upset if they knew that the cabin wasn't very clean. This would be a nice cabin and I would recommend it if it was clean. It could use a few more cooking Utensils, pot holders etc. I would hope that you would talk to your cleaning crew and fix these problems. Never have been to the SMts I had no idea what to expect. Our grandchildren had no place to play outside the unit. The swimming pool for the community was small and to far to go. I asked about the pool but was not given enough information to make a wise choice. Everything was told too us in a very positive manner. If we were ever to do it again we would know what questions to ask in a different way to get the answers that were needed. Out of the two video games, only one was working. A vaccum would have been nice to have seeing we were 10 people. Obviously being up so high was more then 4 of us could handle.(we were all sick) Please inform people ahead of time and let them decide if this is something they want to do. Glad we were there and glad to be home again (on flatter land). The mountains are magnificient but not to stay in for a week. Our family group ranges in age from 10 months to 57 years, my husband and I, our 4 children and there families so the cabin was full but never seemed crowded. There was also plenty of room to eat together, many cabins have 4-6 bedrooms and then only seat 6 at the table, we could easily seat 10 with a couple of highchairs on the side. The 9 year old girls (2) loved the loft. The view was awesome but the trip back down the mountain did take 25-30 minutes. Overall I would recommend the cabin for anyone with a larger family. However, i was somewhat dissapointed in the overall chalet. Hot Tub was dirty, but management sent someone the next day to clean. The projection TV was not set up to work properly to watch DVD and/or TV. One of the video machine did not work, and it was the golf! Kitchen not equipped to handle 14 guest and we had twelve. Need more cooking utensils. No trash bags for the kitchen, bought some when we went back to town. Need more towels....since it is not convenient to go to the office everyday for clean ones, we just wash and dried what was there, But with the hottub and a pool day and 12 people we were washing twice a day.....Would not stay at this chalet again, primarily bc we forgot how difficult the trips in to town are.....Also think we can get a better value for our $$ with better amenities.Cleanliness...average lot of dust! The air conditioner on the main floor "froze up" and the temperature in the afternoon would be in the mid to upper 80's. We reported it 2 times.
