Older cabin and small rooms, but it's clean and has a good view A guest from Lake Lure, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2012 PROS: Good view, away from the noise and traffic, but not too far away. The cabin was clean and had ample parking for 3 cars.CONS: Pots and pans need to be replaced. Toaster is old. Two of the TVs didn't work. Maintenance came but didn't take care of it. Not a big deal because we didn't come to watch that much TV, but at night it would have been nice to watch TV from bed. There was no wifi,so we couldn't post pictures of our trip on FB or even check email. There is a router there, but we never could get any Internet. The description also says there is an oversized sofa and a recliner. There isn't. It's just a regular sized leather sofa that seats three and an uncomfortable leather chair and ottoman. At best, you can seat four people there. One would assume that a room called a game room would have games, but there weren't any - just the air hockey and pool table. And the wet bar had no mini fridge, thus no ice unless you went back upstairs, so it's useless for making drinks there. The hot tub is comfortable for 5 ppl max. It was clean and it was hot enough, just kind of small. So, yes, I would recommend this place, but for no more than 5-6 ppl and not for longer than 3-4 days. It's just too small for that. Oh, the upstairs bedroom has NO doors at all. It's all open to the view. It's pretty, but not practical. American Mountain Rentals A guest from Signal Mountain, TN does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2012 We are regular travelers to the Smokies, we love the area. While the cabin is cute and rustic, this was our least favorite location. The house is perched on the edge of a mountain next to a pretty busy road. There is not a place to walk/hike, which is one of our favorite activities. The house is about 10 feet from another log cabin. While on the deck, you see the other cabin's deck. While in the hot tub, you see the neighbor's hot tub. There were no window blinds to create more privacy or to block out light for sleeping. Also, we booked the cabin at peak rate, $345 per night, based on it sleeping 8. After booking, the unit was changed to sleep 6, with no price adjustment. The Rental Agency provided a blow up mattress, but we were not satisfied with putting two people on the floor to sleep on a mattress that kept deflating during the night. We think the cabin owners are probably unaware of these issues, trusting the management company. We were not impressed with the management company. A week before arrival, the company's employee called us twice requesting that we go ahead and pay our balance early, despite our contract reading otherwise...before arriving! Every interaction felt unprofessional. Other details, there was no pitcher to make tea or drinks in and only small skillets--we were making Thanksgiving dinner. We bought a pitcher and left at the unit for other renters. This is the first negative review I have ever given a management company and rental unit, and we travel a lot. We found humor in the fact that the owner's sign on the cabin read "Angels Abode;" however, the metal sign outside the cabin read "Angels Adobe." Nonetheless, we had a great stay. We were missing a chair from the dining table and the water pressure was not great in the kitchen. The water does have a reddish tint when running baths so we did not use the nice, large jet tub in the master suite upstairs. The views are incredible. It was very clean and we had everything we needed. A raccoon even visited us nightly out on the deck. The rocking chairs could use some attention. It is close to the attractions in Pigeon Forge and they offer the best discounted ticket prices for Dixie Stampede. Enjoy! Our Smokey Mountain Home for a week Mark B. from Kirkliston, WestLothian recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2011 We checked in painlessly (Apart from very heavy traffic in Pigeon Forge!)at the AMR office and directions to the cabin were spot on. The cabin was well located (perhaps not so if there was snow or ice, being up a twisty mountain road) The cabin itself was clean and comfortable with plenty space for the 4 of us. We never saw any bears, but could imagine them in the woods outside. The only surprise wildlife visitor was a scorpion. About an inch long and apparently a sting like a bee. Overall an enjoyable stay and close enough to the attractions in Pigeon Forge. It took a long time for the jacuzzi to fill up because of the water pressure and only 3 jets let the water come in. Also, the lights on the fans overlooking the living room and dining area would not work (don't know if they were shut off at the fan, but we could not reach them to see). Some of the other lightbulbs in the track lighting and the lamp beside the bed were burned out also; however, we still had a wonderful time at Angels Abode and the view was spectacular! (a pitcher, bigger pots, a colander) The fact the doors squeaked and we had to ask for them to be fixed. They were very responsive but we feel we should not have had to ask. It seems that the place is in need of a maintenance walk-through. Ex. no hooks to hang things in bathroom, soap dish broken in bathroom. Ground wire for light over pool table. Is it a good idea to have the fireplace instructions so close to the fireplace? The backs to the remotes missing. These fixes are easy to do and inexpensive. I phoned and asked if they could rent it to us that day at a discount and they refused. Apparently they would rather have $0 dollars than $150 for an early arrival. The staff did a great job finding us an alternate location. My only complaint was the loft bedroom(noise factor.) We really needed 3 bedrooms that had privacy, the other two were great. The air hockey table was broken, and the dishwasher had a bad odor from water that did not completely drain from use by a previous tenant, so we could not use it,and it had broken glass in the bottom.Some of the dishes in the cabinet were not clean. Got tired of hand washing dishes. All in all, we had a great time being together in one location. There were 6 adults, and three children ages 7yrs to 4 months. The property itself needs to have some attention. The water pressure in unit was very poor and was unable to use the jacuzzi tub for it took to long to fill as well as the washer. The kitchen floor hadn't been swept when we arrived. We could tell because there were long black hairs all over when WE swept. We don't have anyone with long black hair. I'm assuming the whole cabin hadn't been swept or mopped, because our socks were filthy. The only thing you can hear when you sit on the balcony is the air conditioner. It works, but it makes a loud whining noise - drowns out any nature sounds. The refrigerator needs to be defrosted and leaked water all over the floor the whole time we were there. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2010 The place was nice - it could have been perfect if a few details were taken care of - several light bulbs were out with no replacements, there was some critter droppings on the deck - maybe a previous guests dog or wildlife not sure but it had been there a while. The hot tub water was clear but green and seemed ok - I called and the desk said it was due to a reaction between the chemicals and the iron in the water. Could be but a note to that effect would have been nice. Also, we weren't really there to watch tv but the remotes were awol, and when we searched and found one in the chair cushions it needed batteries; the other remained awol. This stuff is minor tho -really it was beautiful and everything we expected and hoped for. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2009 The cabin was beautiful, but upon arrival the garbage cans were overturned and there was litter everywhere. The refrigerator had to be wiped out and the aluminum foil on the stove blinds was flithy. Behind the cabin, there were PVC pipes thrown down the hill, a dirty baby diaper in the trees and the property behind was not up to the standards of the adjoining cabins. In addition, dust had gathered on fan fixtures, dryer vents, air conditioning vents on wall and there were a few flies/bugs in the netting surrounding the upstairs bed. Despite these few issues, we had a tremendous time as we celebrated my son's 15th birtday with my extended family. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2009 We had problems with the hot tub and the jacuzzi from day one and it took 4 phone calls to get anyone to get it fixed. The thrid floor ceiling leaked onto the floor outside of the bathroom allover our suitcases and shoes everytime the people in the upstairs bathroom took a shower soevery morning water rained down onto the bootom floor. It took lots of phone calls to get anyone to understand that it had nothing to do with the shower curtain not being closed that was causing the water problem since it was occuring outside of the bathroom door. The kitchen was not furnished with things needed such as full size drinking glasses, bowls for food,etc. and a strainer - we just felt for what we paid for the cabin that the customer service would have been higher. No one seemed to really care if we were taken care of or not and they really did not care if we were satisfied or not. Very disappointing. There is apparently a small leak from the shower on the middle floor to the bedroom on the bottom level. Please inform the owners so it can repaired.4. The living room is lacking at least one table lamp, and the existing one has a broken shade. Looks tacky for this kind of rental.5. All of the picture windows are dirty. Need cleaning badly.6. The chairs in the game room are shabby/broken.7. The pool table needs to be leveled. It tilts badly.8. Lose the air-hockey table. The game room is way too crowded.9. The pool table sticks are shot. It was a small pool and it was difficult to make the turn onto and off of the main road near the cabin to the road near the pool. It was breathtakingly beautiful. The only downside that I had was the pool table was located on the bottom floor and was too close for comfort when playing pool. It is located near 7 foot windows and was terribly afraid that while playing something would get accidentally broke. The beds were extremely comfortable and cabin clean. Septic tank smelt badly and was not repaired until the third day we were there. Too many excuses of why it was that way...all wrong. Was not able to use the hot tub, even after repairs, it remained stained and dirty. Garbage had not been taken away when we got thers. We expecteed someone to come during the week and remove it. It didn't happen. The kitchen was poorly equipped. Need more cooking utensils and a coffee pot that does not take 20 minutes to brew.
