Momma Bear A guest from Lexington, KY recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 Our first impressions were that the cabin was lovely and in new condition, but the wonderful cedar aroma inside had us hooked and in the spirit of the mountains. The place was comfortable and clean; the kitchen, though we didn't use it much, seemed very well equipped. The beds were good; maybe more pillows could be available. We were thrilled with the location - it was very close to the main activities of Pigeon Forge and we never had to get on the main highway with all the traffic and stoplights. You get an A+ for that! Maybe next time we'll ask if you offer a location with that convenience but is closer to some mountain trails. Thank you! DECENT PROPERTY - better customer service Douglas F. from Cumming, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2011 The property was in good shape but we had 3 issues - one serious. The location was very close to Dollywood-a big plus. We had an issue with 6 wasps in the house and my grandson got stung on entry. When I called management they didn't seem to think it was a big deal but since my grandson had not been stung before we were concerned about an allergic reaction. I asked for an exterminator to address the wasps, but when we returned all we found was a spray can and 6 wasps in the house.On Monday we had a storm and the front window was leaking heavily and we put towels to catch the water. Also we noticed that the walls were getting damaged by previous water damage. The grill was a nice addition but when I went to use it the bottom fell out from rust. The houses need better care or the next visitors may not find the houses are being maintained up to par.Thank you for asking for our comments. And we could enjoy beautiful Smoky Mtn sunrises. Unfortunately after a heavy t-storm the big picture window above the front door leaked. A lot. We had packed for our departure and had most of our bags setting by the door. They got wet before we realized the cabin was leaking. Not a big deal, but I feel badly for the next folks who are going to have a wet carpet when they arrive. The staff was WONDERFUL! We will be staying here again. Our week-days visit was quiet and lovely--our last night, a Friday was marred by a cabin two doors away with kids yelling and running about until after 2 am in the morning! There were no extra trash bags, very limited kitchen utensils such no collander, one pan - very few cooking items and no garbage disposal. This cabin also did not have a full size ironing board. It was a small one that was a table top. Over all, our stay was nice but feel like the price that we paid was a little more expensive than others we have stayed in and they had a much better supply of things. Cabin Good, Location is Neighborhood A guest from Ackworth, GA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2008 This cabin is in a neighborhood, the neighbor was pressure washing his house during our stay.... which seriously deminished the peace and quiet atmosphere I was seeking. I would recommend this cabin to someone who does not mind neighbors on vacation. The bedrooms are nice and spacious as are both bathrooms. The kitchen is kind of small but is all you need for a few days stay. Just be prepared that maintenance projects may be kind of noisy at times. Also, please note...AMR were very helpful to me...I had to change the number of bedrooms at the last a little noise was OK.. I had asked several times for the directions but to no avail. [I was even criticized when I said that I was going to use map quest to get the directions.] And NOW I know why they didn't want to give me directions. The TV advertisement says "When you go to the mountains, why not stay in the mountains" is truly an understatement when it comes to the first location. Thankfully, we were given the wrong key that took us off that mountain bluff and into Momma Bear cabin. It was a blessing in disguise. I loved the atmosphere and the solitude of Momma Bear. Friends also joined us; one of which was her first visit. I think she enjoyed herself; especially the shopping. My husband and I usually go for a "mountain retreat" at least twice a year. We no longer have our time share, but we can still get that ambiance with a cabin from American Mountain Rentals. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2007 On the second night of our stay, my 19 month old daughter was playing on the floor of the master bedroom and she found under the edge of the bed a plate covered with the remains of marijuana smoking paraphernalia... stems and rolling papers and the end of an already smoked joint. Luckily, we saw her pull it out and took it away from her immediately. I called the office and was told that it was our responsibility to bring it to the office. During a Rod Run, this took us over two hours to accomplish. No one apologized or tried to make any attempt at amends. When we checked out for the weekend, we brought it to the attention of the office manager on duty. He seemed very apathetic and unconcerned. I asked him what if my daughter had eaten some of that marijuana and had to go to the emergency room during our vacation... would that have made it serious enough to be of concern to him? Again, he basically told us "tough cookies" and never offered anything in the way of apology for the lack of thoroughness of the AMR cleaning staff. He was actually very cold and rude about the whole situation. So for this reason, we will not be staying with AMR on any of our future annual trips to Pigeon Forge and will never recommend them to our friends, family or our hundreds of internet contacts. Thank you for this opportunity to share our experience, since no one cared at the time.
