Near road that was fairly heavily traveled and unpaved entrance to a resort area was behind the cabin but still very quiet and peaceful. Not very far from Parkway and easy access to shopping, restaurants, etc. Cabin was very cozy; we had perfect sunny fall days and needed very little heat at night. Only problem was locating rental office; light #0 was not marked coming from Wear's Valley, light #3. Once we found office great directions to cabin and good explanations as to rules, how to get help if needed, etc. Check out was a breeze. The only negative about the place was the yard, I called to have it mowed because the grass was so tall, they came to mow it then it was like a hay field it needed raked really bad. We wanted to take our grandsons fishing in Gatlinburg's stocked area for children and we couldn't even get into town due to traffic. The night we arrived in Pigeon Forge we wanted to go to Gatlinburg for dinner and we sat in traffic for what seemed like an eternity just to get through 2 lights, so we just turned around and went elsewhere to eat. Pigeon Holed in Pigeon Forge A guest from Odessa, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2011 Rating Honey Bear cabin based on the scale above is difficult considering our overall experience. We stayed at Honey Bear only because the cabin we booked was located high up a treacherous road and the cabin itself clung to a mountainside supported by stilts...very scary. There was barely room to park our truck out front. I chose to get out on the driver's side...passenger side had barely any room to walk and one false move and I would have fallen down the ravine. I would not give Firefly Ridge a good rating on safety. Since we felt unsafe, we opted to move. Honey Bear was the only cabin available on low ground. It had none of the amenities we sought for our vacation except a hot tub which was not enclosed and rain was eminent. Honey Bear was loaded with dead lady bugs but, in defense of AMR, they did not expect guests in that cabin on that night. I'm sure it would have been perfectly clean otherwise. But I started my vacation by vacuuming. Overall, I wish the website had described the mountain terrain, narrow roads with switchbacks and blind spots and heights of cabins with drop-offs. One staff member said as we were arranging for a different cabin "Well...you ARE in the mountains." Sarcastic and unnecessary comment, yet true. However, we have vacationed in other mountain communities (Lake Tahoe, Yosemite) and have never had this problem. After 3 hours and looking at 3 cabins, we stayed at Honey Bear. It was such a bad start to our trip...we just wanted our money back and to stay at a motel, but no refunds, no how, for no reason, not even fear of heights and fear for your own safety. It was easy to get into town and easy to get to alot of places without having to get in the 4th of July traffic. The only recommendation I would have is the office staff could have been a bit friendlier. In their defense though it was the end of the night and a busy holiday weekend, but when you spend an amount equal to a month's rent for one weekend it would be nice if they said "Welcome" and "Thank You for choosing us", other than that it was a very relaxing stay although it right next door to Gummy Bear you would never know it. She is older, very docile and rarely barks. The 4 year old corgi that i was allowed to bring is much more likley to get into mischief. Please remove the weight limit. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2007 THE PLACE WAS GREAT,,,EXCEPT THERE WAS A ABONDONED DOG THAT REEKED FROM NEGLECT PROPERTY MANAGER SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT CALL HUMANE SOCIETY THEY SENT THE COUNTY POLICE DEPT OUT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WE ASKED FOR A DIFFERENT CABIN NO LUCKTHERE EITHER WE BROUGHT OUR DOG ALONG TO ENJOY THE OUTDOORS,,,SORRY COULD,N'T DO THAT EITHER DUE TO OTHER DOG,,,MAYBE Y'ALL DIDN'T UNDERSTAND OUR SITUATION,,,IF YOU GOT WITH IN 30 FEET OF THIS OTHER DOG IT REEKED HAD SORES ALL OVER BODY AND ACTED LIKE IT MIGHT COME AFTER YOU,,,WE THOUGHT ABOUT COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE BECAUSE IT WAS PERFECT FOR MY MOTORCYCLE TRAILER????? A bit of room to ramble, enough off the beaten path for traffic to not be heard, but not so far that getting anywhere was an issue. Close enough to things, and yet far enough to have peace and quiet. I loved the dog friendly cabin ability and the decor and special touches were just right. The cabin was very welcoming when we came back from long days of shopping and other activities. The beds were very comfortable. The Jacuzzi was very easy to operate and extremely clean.
