My biggest complaint is the high speed internet was misrepresented as well as satellite tv. The internet wasn't very good at all and only got some channels on tv. This property was really nice and we loved the extra touches to the outside area around the cabin. Even though it was only 45 degrees we couldn't resist the hammocks and walking the trails. There are a couple trails and creeks on the property worth mentioning, that made for great photos, they were a pleasant surprise. We lost power twice and ultimately wishes we were better preppared for that, as spending a whole night without power in 20something degree weather wasn't so much fun. With all this being said, we had a blast and spent most of our time enjoying the cabin, and of course, the snow. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2012 We did enjoy our stay, the cabin was nice, it was a little smaller than how it looked in the pictures online, so we may go with something larger next time. The ladies at the front desk were pleasant and helpful. I do think taking the towels to swap out at the main office is way to far to drive, maybe you could have this service offered at the Brother's Cove office. The firewood would barely burn, we purchased just two of the bundles.Luckily we brought our own wood or we would have really been disapointed. We did really enjoy the fireplace and the cabin though. The only real issue was that the TV in the second bedroom did not work, we called for service and were told basically they didn't know why it was not working so my daugher and son-in-law were not able to just watch TV in there room. Overall the cabin was clean but it could use some general house keeping done, the windows were not all clean and it was noticeable when the sun would shine thru the windows. Oh and our dog really loved it there, he enjoyed our morning walks down toward the office and just roaming around at our cabin. We will be back for sure! Beautiful property! A guest from STURGIS, Michigan recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2012 This property is probably one of the best in brothers cove it has so much to offer! The grounds are beautiful, a mountain stream runs right past the cabin, you can listen to it bubble while having an evening campfire in the fire pit. The many small trails and bridges throughout the property were awesome too. The house doesnt have a "view" but you won't really care. I'd rather have more space to be outside than a view. If you need to experience the "view" it's just a short drive up the mountain. This property would be ideal for winter since there are no steep grades to get to this cabin. The porch was amazing with huge rockers, a tv, grill and hot tub. You really don't need to go inside!! The interior was nicely decorated (fall and Halloween theme for us) a huge flat screen in the living room and newer furniture. The wifi in the cabin saved us since there is little to no cell service in the area! The kitchen is newer with all the pots and pans we needed to make all of our meals. The bedrooms were a little on the small side with a huge soaking tub in both, but we really only used the bedrooms for sleeping so the size really didn't matter. The bathrooms were also on the small side, it was kind of difficult for 4 people to try and share those small spaces trying to get ready in the mornings. My only complaint about the whole place is that it could use a really good cleaning there were many stains on the upstairs carpet, it was quite dusty in places, and the bathrooms smelled like old urine. I am very picky when it come to things being clean and those few things wouldn't stop me from staying there again or encouraging someone else to enjoy this cabin!! We take great pride in all the wonderful surrounds afforded to each guest that stays in that unit. I also appreciate the maintenance tip, it turns out that we needed to change the wax ring seals at the base of the toilets, they seal the plumbing from venting. We arrived at the cabin and started the whirlpool tub in bedroom two and it leaked downstairs; called the rental office they sent out someone to look at the problem. Said we could not use it he would have to break it down to see what was wrong with the tub at a later date. I was disappointed but enjoyed the hot tub outside as well. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 We had to call maintenance multiple times to fix things, such as the tv in one of the bedrooms and a leaky toilet which never did get fixed despite alerting maintenance after every time they came to the cabin. Also the hot tub was dirty so we could not use it and the jacuzzi tubs were dirty and after we cleaned them the water we ran to fill up the tubs was brown. The check in/out process was fine, the location was ok, the cabin itself was cute and we loved the trails but could have been a lot better experience if we could have used all the amenities promoted, which were the main reasons we chose this cabin. The brown stuff you speak of are water stains from the high iron content we used to have with the water at Brothers Cove. This past Spring the Home Owners Association, the folks who provide water for the community, installed a $100,000.00 state of the art water treatment system to remove the iron from the water. Iron is not harmful, but can leave a rust stain that is very difficult to remove on certain surfaces. We are hoping during the winter we can come up with a solution to improving that issue. The cabin was in a resort style development but it still feels secluded. You could see a few lights through the trees at night but you couldn't actually see another cabin. We spent most of five days in the park or touring the area by car but the cabin was a great place to come back to. We did stay in and relax one day mostly because it was pouring rain. We just sat on the deck and watched it rain. The rain on the metal roof was very cool for a while but when it rains for 36 hours straight you eventually just wish it was quiet. The cabin is in a valley which helps it feel secluded but it means the view is not exactly spectacular. We knew this before we booked it though so it was not surprising. We were not able to get into the cabin until after 5pm on our arrival date. This did not give us a good feeling about how the rest of our stay would be since we timed our travel from Indiana to arrive at the specified check-in time. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2011 We have stayed in Bear Paw Trail a couple of times before, but I was pleasantly surprised this time around. This cabin has changed owners since the last time we were there, and there were a lot of things that were different. The appliances are new, the dining room table and living room furniture were new, the flat-screen TVs in the bedrooms were new, and the cabin was in great shape. American Mountain was excellent to work with and was very prompt at responding to a problem with the hot tub. The tub's motor went out and had a leak in it, but the maintenance staff took care of it quickly. As is the case with many cabin rentals in the Smokies, there were some "critter" issues, mainly with mice. Be sure to put your dishes in the dishwasher before going to bed. New ammenities, pool table was nice, great hot tub. The cabin was a little dusty but you are in the woods and that should be expected! It did not look dirty by any means just a little dusty. Bugs were not a huge issue either. Couple of spiders and lots of moths but nothing you couldn't handle.Over all we had a great stay. We did not have a view of the mountains from our cabin but we drove up to the pool and to some cabins that were not rented and were able to take a lot of great pictures. The staff were very friendly when we checked in. I would reccommend Brother's Cove and Bear Paw Trail #15 to everyone. You can definitely tell the owners really care about their property!! Out of all the one's we have stayed at before this is certainly in the top 3. The only problem we had were that the remotes didn't work with the direct TV downstairs. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2010 We had a wonderful time in our cabin, it was very cozy and we loved it. The only issue that we had was getting in. We were told that we had to check in after 3pm and arrived at 3:30 pm only to find out that we could not check in until 6pm. We had already purchased all of our groceries for the week and had no place to put them. Once we got to the cabin at 6:30 pm, it was still almost 8pm before we got settled in because the battery on the lock box had died and the cleaning staff could not even break in to clean the cabin. Other than that issue, the trip was awesome and we would recommend our cabin to others. The location was secluded, which was nice. The pool was very nice and clean. The outside yard area around cabin could use some work, seemed really over grown with weeds and had a let go appearance. We had alot of rain during our stay, so it was nice to have a large area for the kids to play. They loved the pool table(needs new pool sticks). Worst vacation EVER at Brother's Cove A guest from Salisbury, NC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2010 My husband and I traveled to Brother's Cove from four hours away expecting to enjoy our stay as we have two previous times. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time. Upon arrival, the grill was absolutely disgusting and after calling the office, we had to go out and buy tinfoil in order to even thin of cooking on it. Secondly, as I was taking a shower in the 2nd floor bathroom, the drainage pipe had an obvious problem, as it started pouring out onto the first floor, covering the couch and wood floors. Thankfully there was a full bath on the first floor, but now we had to go downstairs to shower each morning rather than using the bath next to our room. Thirdly, a racoon (I'm hoping so) woke us up each morning (4:30 am) as it was trying to claw it's way into the cabin (leaving sawdust on the TV in our room). I am aware that we are in the wilderness, but none-the-less the racoon definately needs to be relocated. He is destroying the cabin by taking huge chunks out of the overhangs. I'm sure the property owners would not be happy about that especially since they are trying to sell their cabin. Fourthly, we followed the directions for garabage pick up and after putting it out at 10 am exactly, we headed to town only to return at 4 pm to see our trash spread all over our driveway and the road. In total, I had to make four phone calls to the rental office about problems with the cabin, which is an all time record, since I've not made one call in my previous stays. I feel that I need to be financially compensated for my waste of time at Brother's Cove...the ball is in American Mtn Rentals' court to make a decision if they ever want this customer back (we have stayed there the past three years). There is a serious lack of customer service with the new property manager, as it was much better when we used to checked-in on site at the office located at the bottom of the mountain. The water was yellow and looked like lemonade in the bathtub. The washer/dryer were useless unless you wanted your clothes ruined. There was a disclaimer in the house telling you about the water after you checked in and paid. The upstairs shower had black mold all around the door. The entire house was very dusty and blinds were filthy. The cleaning fee I was charged should be used to really clean this house. The layout of the house is good as well as the furnishings and location. Someone just needs to pay attention to the details and tell people about the water upfront. Also the septic tank was giving us issues since day one and it took about 3 days for them to act on the problem. They did not take the complaint seriuosly it only took 3 days of complaints for them to act on it. Also the management was not helpful with the problem there resolution was for us to leave, however they did not understand were from Florida and we had no place to go after we had made our plans to be there for the week. We end up staying in the cabin only because we could not get another hotel for that time. But besides the issues I do look forward to going back to Tennesse but I will defintley stay else where. We did however have two experiences with the same bear. He was no afraid of us and he kept raiding the garbage. We tried putting rocks on top, but he would knock it over and run off with a whole bag. The feeling was cozy and relaxing. Inside was clean the unique stair rail was special along with the etched glass. It is perfect for a family. We enjoyed the jacuzzie surrounded by the outdoors and the tv to watch outside. There was enough furniture inside to set six some cabins only have a couch. We were very pleased and relaxed even though we were there for our daughters wedding and it rained every day. It was a little far out of town then we were used to we would stay again. The hot tub at the end of the day was excellent, as was the fire. The beds were very comfortable. There were a few problems though. The upstairs shower had no hot water and the toilet leaked, through down to the first floor, which we had to keep mopping up. We called the office , which was supposed to send someone out tne next day. never arrived. The a.c. unit was very loud also. We had to clean the hot tub and sanitize it before getting in, and the cabin needed dusting. There were alot of nice decorations ,but keeping them dusted wasnt one of their strong points. We ( husband child and me)still had a great time. The great time we had out weighed those things by far. There are too many good things to list and I would go back again. Very relaxing vacation. This cabin was located in the woods, so we had seclusion, but no views. It was charming, clean, and everything we needed. There was a problem with the jacuzzi, but things happen and it doesn't effect my opinion of the company. We loved our visit, and plan to stay with this company again. I would stay somewhere else next time, but only because I would like to stay on a mountain. If you want quiet, a relaxing vacation, this is the place to stay. There was an outdoor hottub with tv, and it was secluded so it was open. There were 2 jacuzzis upstairs, one in each bedroom. There was a lovely fireplace, and a huge tv. Also, a room with a pool table in it. Photos Misleading A guest from Macon, Georgia does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2007 I had two problems not so much with the property as the management. First upon arrival the office charged the stay to the wrong credit card and I had to wait until Monday for someone to strainghten out their mistake. It then took an additional 4 days to get the total amount credited back to my card (it would have been done instantly had management been smart enough to use the credit buttons on the terminal to credit the account immediately after the charge). This is not the way to start a five day stay, especially when due to managements negligence we now had about $750.00 less to spend to enjoy our trip. To top it off, management never appologized only offered the excuse that most people keep the charge on the card. The second problem is - DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY THE USE OF WIDE ANGLE CAMERA LENSES IN THE PROPERTY PHOTOS. This property looked big and roomy in the photos, but what a JOKE. It would have better been described as a quaint honeymoon get away with cabins surrounding you - very SMALL cabin and NO PRIVACEY.
