Stayed for 3 days in March, 2013 Either by ourselves or with other family members, we have stayed a total of seven times in Brother's Cove rentals. For the most part, we have been satisfied with the accommodations. When we stayed in Scenic Serenity, the outside temperature was in the 30's at night and the daytime temperatures in the 40's. The thermostat was located on the second floor and we had no problem keeping the second floor around 70 degrees. However, the temperature on the first floor stayed down close to 60 degree's the entire stay. We tried raising the thermostat - only made it hotter (80 degrees) upstairs with no effect downstairs. We checked to make sure all registers were open and even ran the oven and fireplace downstairs and still coludn't get it warm. We had a problem with the drain being stopped in the bathtub and when the maintenance man came to work on it, we mentioned the heat problem He told us it was the way HVAC was installed. No solution. The surround sound on the TV downstairs didn't work and two different times we could only get sound and no picture for a lengthy periods of time. Stayed for 10 days in July, 2012 After a reservation mixup that was not the fault if Brothers Cove, we were given a free night in a larger cabin and another at the end if our stay in Serenity. The cabin is very private and well laid out. We enjoyed every part of this beautiful cabin. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom very spacious. The hot tub was large and comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the main balcony because of the beautiful views and privacy. The furniture inside and outside the cabin are also very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. The decor as very Northwoods and quite appealing. Overall the stay was very relaxing and enjoyable. We were impressed with both the property and the management co. The view from the porches (and from inside, thanks to the many large windows) was great, and we really enjoyed the swing and rocking chairs outside. Everything was well-maintained and ready to use. This cabin gave us the best of both worlds, so to speak: we got to stay in Tennessee in a very comfortable home, and be immersed in nature at the same time. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2012 first night hottub was 92 degrees with an oily layer on top (supposedly cleaned).DVD and television didn't work. No internet. At 3:00Am woke up by a squirrel or something that sounded like it was at our bedside. Later noticed a nest in the roof. 2nd night fire alarm went off at 3:11 Am for 45 minutes. No way to turn it off and no one to call at that hour. Decided to grill 3rd night and 10 minutes later grill ran out of propane.Outside windows were not cleaned with spider webs and wasp nests and film on windows. Outside porch had wasps to contend with. No shades so sun glared on TV when it finally got fixed.We had place till Sat but left on Thurday morning. For fresh towels we needed to go into town if we wanted to trade towels or pick up laundry detergent and do them ourselves which we did.Should have had towels at the base of the cabins not travel 7 miles or so to get a nclean towel.Personel were very helpful but the homeowners need to make sure cabin is properly cleaned and all ameneties are working. The cabin unit was updated and very relaxing. Our hot tub was broken however, and it took 4 calls to the front desk to get a repair man out, and it never did get fixed for our stay. Very disappointing. There were also some critters that were living in the walls/attic/ceiling which were very noisy at night. We slept terrible! Still had a great trip, perfect for families with kids, but would probably pay more to stay elsewhere next time to get a better staff and a hot tub that worked. Scenic Serenity is actually the very last cabin on a dead end road, and it is at the top of their property. We felt as though we were the only people for miles, in spite of being able to see lights from nearby cabins. The only 'complaint' we had was that the universal remote for the TV/satellite/DVD player was horribly confusing, and we actually had to call the office to get some help. I know they say they drain it after every stay but I do not believe that hot tub was drained. Even if it was the tub could not have been cleaned. We have been staying at Brother's Cove since 1999. We work it into our budget to try and get there twice/three times a year. T Melissa R. from Roanoke, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2011 Because we have had such a long and wonderful relationship with BC we feel we should let management know that for the first time ever we found a cabin to be dirty. The main floor had not been vacumed. Then we would walk on the floor it was gritty and under tables and benches you could see dirt. The kitchen counters were dirty also. There were ditry washclothes in the downstairs bathroom hanging up on the shower curtain. We did not use that shower at all. I only tell you this because we know this is NOT what we have experienced in the past 12 years. I know the cabin had been rented up until the day we checked in so maybe it was a time factor. The bathrooms themselves were clean as was the refrigerator. We really loved this cabin and hope to return in Nov. for a longer stay. Hands down Brother's Cove is our home away from home and we cherish our time there. Our best to all who keep BC the special place it is. Thank you.
