Adorable 1+ bedroom single family cottage in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle. Enjoy sitting out on the front porch or take in the local sites. The #5 bus picks up 1 block away and will have you downtown in a matter of minutes. Within 5 blocks are some of the best restaurants Seattle has to offer, as well as numerous boutique stores, grocery store, and coffee shops (of course!). If you aren't familiar with the neighborhood, you will not be disappointed to discover it. The Woodland Park Zoo is a manageable 15 block walk or a quick hop on and off the #5 bus.
The home features a queen size bed in one bedroom and an uncommonly comfortable queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. The upscale sleeper sofa has no bars to wreck a good night's sleep and a very thick foam mattress for the ultimate in comfort. The 2nd sleeping area features two twins with skylights and low ceiling height which makes it ideal for kids but a bit tight for adults which is why we have a maximum of 6 people, only 4 of whom can be adults. Eat in kitchen and a separate office space with a wireless capable DSL modem. Bathroom features a clawfoot bathtub. Fantastic, charming home base for your Seattle vacation!

We have rented this little cottage many times. A guest from Severna Park, Maryland recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in January, 2013 Perfect location in relation to our son and his family - one block away. Ideal little place... much better than a hotel. Grandkids love the sleepovers in the upstairs loft! Property Manager Response: Response from Sea To Sky Hello Stephen! Thank you so much for your wonderful review and continued business. Both are very much appreciated! You're right; that upstairs loft is a perfect little sleepover spot! We look forward to having you stay with us again. |

Charming and cute. A guest from San fransico, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in November, 2012 Phinney Cottage is very cute and in a great location. Only 1 block from lots of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and a great grocery store. The cottage is very cute, with some antique furniture that is pretty, but has some down sides: The antique toilet made noise on and off throughout our stay, the claw foot tub/ shower is charming, but for my 6'-4" husband, he couldn't stand up in it without hitting his head on the ceiling, much less get water on his head. He resorted to sitting down in the tub. (We had a good laugh over that one!). The dressers were pretty full of linens, not leaving much room for our clothes. The upstairs bedroom is up a very steep flight of stairs. It would be fine for older kids, but we ended up not using it for our infant because I didn't want to worry about stumbling down them in the middle of the night. There is a very nice yard that we didn't use because it was cold and rainy, but in the summer, it would be great. It was a nice place, well decorated, and I would recommend staying there, as long as you are okay with the above mentioned issues. Property Manager Response: Response from Sea To Sky Hello Heather! Wow! What a detailed review! Thank you so much. These kinds of reviews are helpful to us and future guests looking to stay at the property. You are absolutely right about the charming features of the bathroom and the steep stairs. We do provide a locked gate at the top of the stairs in the event you want to block entrance or exit from the upstairs bedroom! I will definitely pass along the feedback about the lack of space in the dresser to our Property Manager and Designer. I am so glad you and your family enjoyed the stay. We would love to have you back! Please keep in mind we do offer a return guest discount, so be sure to let us know when you are back in town. |

Comfortable Family Vacation A guest from Everson, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2012 We found Phinney Ridge to be a family friendly neighborhood with a safe feel. We appreciated a short walk to Ken's Market, for impressively fresh vegetables and a good selection of wine, and also had fun watching a Seahawks game at a German pub around the corner. Overall - a pleasant cottage for families with children who are comfortable with modest, non-lavish surroundings - our grandson loved the quality games and toys provided in the kid's loft. The windows with garden views and the skylights rendered an airiness and a cheery atmosphere, especially in the kitchen and loft. (Only suggestion would be not to send automated emails for rental feed-back that arrive in the middle of the night, waking me up, as that is what happened.) Property Manager Response: Response from Sea To Sky Hello Mariah! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a detailed review of your stay. It is helpful for us and also future guests who are trying to decide on a Sea to Sky property! We are in the process of evaluating our customer feedback requests so thank you for sharing your thoughts on the automated email system. Please keep in mind that we offer return guests 5% off their next visit. We would love to have you stay with us again! |

Clean and Comfy A guest from Longboat Key, Florida recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 Very clean with very nice furniture. Great spot for two people. It would be small for a family or more A guest from Southampton, Mass recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in September, 2011 We loved getting to know Phinney Ridge and having Green Lake to run around everyday is always a bonus. we come to Seattle often and will usually choose to rent a house or condo so we will use VRBO again, probably in the winter next. I can see that parking is an issue in this neighborhood, but we were in no hurry and did not have small children to deal with. |

a great stay with one exception A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011 Our family of four had a great stay there with the exception of the 3:00am carbon monoxide alarm. It was cheecked out and dealt with quickly by the management company but caused a very disrupted night. |

Good out of the city location, yet close to public transp/roads A guest from Mohnton, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011 The second floor was cute but not very practical. The clawfoor bathtub is very dangerous for a handicapped person (which my husband is) or for someone with any balance problems. It was difficult to prevent shower spray from the head and foot of the tub. Steps from the yard to the sidewalk would have been safer with a railing. I would not recommend for anyone with ambulation problems. We had to go elsewhere for my husband to shower. |

Cozy, comfortable, and convenient A guest from Fresno, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2011 We loved staying at the Phinney Garden Cottage. Everything was clean and well-maintained. We especially appreciated the well-equipped kitchen. And sitting on the front porch was just lovely. The property managers were incredibly helpful and responsive. Only 2 minor issues: the upstairs bedroom /attic has a very low ceiling, so it's really only appropriate for small children. And finding street parking can be difficult--but I think that's pretty common in Seattle. Overall, a great experience--would definitely recommend Sea to Sky to friends and family. |

Phinney-Phenomenal!!! A guest from Edmonton, Alberta recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2011 Absolutely PERFECT for us: young parents with an 18-month old with three more family members staying 2 of the 4 days. Convenient kids package with pack n' play, toys, and highchair so we didn't have to haul it in from Canada, and child-safe environment! Bottom line, its the way to go if you have young kids who don't do well in hotels (and better value!) Was just like being at home. Wife loved the beautiful backyard and antique bathroom. I enjoyed the location which was central to almost everything in Seattle with a grocery store just around the corner. Will definitely book the cottage again when we go back to Seattle. Thanks! |

Fleas and a broken pull out sleeper.... walker k. from Sherman Oaks, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in April, 2011 I like the staff of Sea to Sky and the property is great but we had an unfortunate set of circumstances. The pull out sleeper sofa was broken and they were unable to fix it. We also had a flea infestation and we were all bitten to bits. The staff of Sea To Sky tried to relocate us but were unable to find something suitable that was available. Oh well. Stuff happens. It would not prevent me from returning to Sea To Sky. |

Pefect Vacation Rental if You Like Older Homes Alice C. from Novato, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2010 This Phinney Ridge home is conveniently located to all Seattle has to offer. The neighborhood is quiet, Ken's Market is close, and there are some fabulous neighborhood restaurants. That said, this cozy cottage is not for everyone. While it is immaculately clean and the furnishings are very comfortable, be aware that this is an old home with small rooms and the quirky features that come with age. If you are someone who likes lots of room to stretch out and level floors then this home is not for you. But, if you want to experience what it is like to live in a wonderful Seattle neighborhood, then this would be a pefect place to stay. |

Thanksgiving with Family Mary S. from Queenstown, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in November, 2010 We have stayed in Phinney Garden Cottage twice--last Thanksgiving and this Thanksgiving. The house is located in a great neighborhood with a grocery store, Starbucks and restaurants within walking distance and not far from Green Lake and the Zoo. It is nicely furnished and has all of the amenities and was perfect for me and my husband. It would be suitable for a couple with one or two smaller children as the upstairs bedroom has a sloped roof and not high ceilings throughout the entire room. The only thing we had issues with was the antique commode which was temperamental. |

Seattle Thanksgiving Mary S. from Queenstown, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in November, 2010 We totally enjoyed our second stay at the Phinney Garden Cottage. It is close to Green Lake, walking distance to good pubs, Starbucks and grocery store and not far to drive downtown, Freemont and Ballard. The property is large enough for two adults and two small children but not four adults (we were only two and it was perfect) as the upstairs is only adult height in part of the room. The property is well-furnished and cozy. We were there during the snow storm and were definitely warm enough. We want to thank management for coming by at least twice and clearing off the snow for us during our stay. Our only issue was the antique commode which ran for some time after flushing no matter how careful we were. It's cute and fits in with the decor but perhaps it's time for a replacement |

Nice neighborhood, small cottage Diana Z. from Grosse Ile, MI recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2010 The house is quite small and aged but cleanly kept. The keypad entry system is convenient. We had trouble with the toilet flushing system throughout the stay. The bathroom floor board also needs repairing. Two other things to know are: 1)the washer really rattles the entire dinning room and kitchen area when it's spinning at full speed. 2) the attic ceiling height can really only accomodate small children. |

Phinney Garden Cottage Review Martyn H. from York, East Yorkshire recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in July, 2010 Great location for us as we have family living nearby. Bus stop a block away for access into the city as well as the local shops (Ken's supermarket round the corner was great). Re the accomodation itself, it was clean and we had everything we needed, furniture/beds etc all comfortable and decor was good. House overall is a bit creaky in places (more just added character as it is over 100 years old afterall) and a very small back garden for the children but pretty flower beds and a quiet location. The children loved the converted roof space bedroom although the adults had a few bumped heads! Main negative was the parking, we hired a full size car and only one side of the street can be parked on and as such you normally had to park a block away from the house, when after a full day out and 2 young children it was a bit frustrating. The other gripe was the antique toilet - looked nice but had to occasionally keep standing on a chair to adjust the cistern to get the water to fill up - minor gripes overall as really enjoyed the stay and didn't detract from the wonderful holiday we had. Would definitely use Sea to Sky again to book a property but will probably try a different property ourselves mostly because of the parking/tired children walking up hill.. |

Great location, Charming and Quaint Cottage A guest from Pacific Grove, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2010 I was little annoyed that upon arrival, we could not get into the house because the combination lock provided to us prior to our arrival had not been properly set. However, the agent staffing the after hours emergency number responded quickly and we were able to get in using the last tenant's code (so much for security!) We wanted to stay off-the-beaten path but not too far from it and Phinney Garden Cottage was perfect with its lush gardens! The house is quite charming but rather tiny. My husband is shy of 6 ft and barely cleared the ceiling in the shower! The bedroom is so tiny that I whacked (and severely bruised)my knee on the slightly protruding bed leg because there was so little room between it and the wall and the bedspread covered it up. I don't mean this as criticism-- just a warning to move carefully. I wouldn't recommend that more than a couple and a small child or two stay here but it had everything we needed for a lovely week-long vacation. The neighborhood was awesome with quite a lot to do without going into the city center: the zoo and Greenlake are within (longer) walking distance, the seasonal Friday Night Art Walk and Phinney Ridge Farmer's Market were wonderful experiences. There are many great restaurants in the area (highly recommend Carmelita's and Mae's Phinney Ridge Cafe), a nice grocery store to stock up on pretty much any supplies and lots of interesting shops. When we wanted to get to the city center, we were able to catch the conveniently located No. 5 bus around the corner which took us straight downtown-- thus avoiding the expense of a rental car and parking fees as well as the headache of finding parking. If you go the bus route, be sure to buy a booklet of metro tickets at Ken's grocery store to avoid having to always have exact change.... and don't rely on the bus drivers to help you find your way. Seattle's public transpo system is one of the most confusing ever but my Droid smartphone cam |

A quaint cottage Daniel N. from Honolulu, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2010 A very quiet and lovely neighborhood. I slept in the upstairs room so my daughter and grandson could sleep on the main floor. The heat vent in their bedroom was not working and my 22 month old grandson caught a nasty cold as a result, kinda dampened the week. The upstairs is cute for maybe 6 - 10 year olds. I banged my head at least 3 or 4 times on the low ceilings! The house was nicely furnished, though I was disappointed that there was no coffee bean a home in Seattle! LOL I would also suggest they put in at least one larger fry pan, hard cooking in an 8 inch peeling teflon pan. All in all, if it were just me, I'd rent it again! Property Manager Response: Response from Sea To Sky Thank you for your feedback on the quaint Phinney Cottage! We were not aware that there was a problem with the bedroom vent until we received your comments. We had the vent repaired and it is now working properly. We apologize for your discomfort and would have sent a technician to the house immediately if you had called to inform us. The upstairs is indeed a bit tight for adults which is why our website clearly states that the ceilings are low and best suited for children, not adults. We appreciate your comments on the pans; we will definitely make improvements and purchase new pans for the home. |

Stayed for 3 days in May, 2010 Phinney Garden Cottage lived up to its description, although the gardens were even more attractive than anticipated. The upstairs was a perfect area for our 4 and 1 1/2 year old grandchildren to play when they came to visit. The location was convenient for us, a quick walk to the grocery store and restaurants, and less than a mile from our son and family. If our son stays in the area, we will return to Phinney Garden Cottage. |

Spring break visit. Teresa C. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2010 What a great little house. Good location and access to public transportation. But bring your own pillows the ones there need to be more comfortable. Property Manager Response: Response from Sea To Sky Thank you for your comments! We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage in Phinney Ridge. We have recently replaced all the pillows in the house with hypo-allergenic high density pillows, and do so with all of our properties on an as-needed basis. Lovely cottage in a small neighborhood close to downtown Seattle Mary B. from Camarillo, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2010 Suggestions: First, improve the bathroom. The bathtub is difficult to get in and out of for older people, and this could be dangerous. Secondly, there is no hair dryer in the bathroom. Finally, there is a leaky drain in the sink causing water to drain onto the wooden floorboards. If you do remodel the bathroom, the present lighting is too direct for such a small space. Lastly, the sound on the television does not work on all stations. |

Month Long Stay A guest from Anchorage, AK recommends this property. Stayed for 31 days in December, 2009 We stayed for a month here and the bus access to MT5 was easy 1 minute walk to go downtown. There is also very easy access to stores and a grocery store, library, etc.The owner was wonderful and installed a baby gate for us at the top of the stairs it was not an easy normal opening. Even though our toddler is used to using stairs at home, this gave us tremendous piece of mind as the stairs here are VERY steep as it is an older house.I also loved that there were lots of towels. There was way more than we needed, but was great when we had guests come and stay with us. We did not have to count out towels for everyone. We would definitely recommend staying here. |

Phinney Ridge Mary S. from Queenstown, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in November, 2009 This cottage was just perfect for our stay--just an adult couple. It could work if you had one or two small but not really young children with you (steep steps to upstairs). We used the upstairs to store luggage. Lots to do in the neighborhood and close to much more by car. The only inconvenience to us was the lack of parking. There is only parking on one side of the street and if you are returning later in the evening, you might have to walk a block--we always found parking within this distance. We would definitely rent the cottage again. |

Good for a couple or small family only A guest from Asheville, North Carolina does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2009 Other properties in Seattle would suit our desire for a pleasant stay better. Owner lives next door and will appear out of nowhere to water garden...kind of too much. Bathroom celing and upstairs ideal for those under six feet in height.A few key things needed repair. |

Barbara W. from Jim Thorpe, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in May, 2009 We did not spend much time there, only to sleep and eat breakfast. I found it disconcerting to see so many notes stating that if we didn't do this or that correctly, we'd be charged $50.00 hr. for not sorting the trash properly, etc......that was not welcoming to me. It seemed like you just wanted to collect more fees for this and that. Believe me, I was glad to hear that we left it in proper condition. I felt like I had to clean or I'd be charged $50.00 hr. for having a piece of lint left on the floor so I did clean and hopefully, left it almost spotless. I doubt if it took the cleaners much time to clean after we left. Our coffee pot never worked, but we didn't charge you for the coffee we had to go and buy. However, when we called, there was a new coffee pot that day which we greatly appreciated. |

Home away from home A guest from Tahoe City, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2009 Phinney Garden Cottage was a dream come true. We stayed 5 nights in May, had beautiful weather, and loved the garden! The cottage is in great shape, and had lots of character. The space is comfortable and charmingly decorated. We made great use of the kitchen and found it equipped with everything we needed. The barbecue was excellent as well. We loved the neighborhood, and enjoyed being on the ridge with a view east and west. The local shops and restaurants are great! Such easy access! Bus line to downtown super convenient. Parking easily available. Easy freeway access, close to Ballard and Fremont and Green Lake. We couldn't have asked for more. Very very tall people (over 6'3") would have a hard time with the shower, but my brother managed, and he is 6'1". All the beds are very comfortable, especially the pull out couch. Our experience was better than perfect. |

Excellent alternative to a hotel, esp for families A guest from Highland Park, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2009 Loved the neighborhood and enjoyed staying in the cute little cottage that was very "Seattle". Great coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. Upstairs room is GREAT for kids, and the place has nice outdoor space. This is definitely a cottage and not fancy, but clean and tasteful and great for a more comfortable stay than would be possible in a cramped hotel room. We would stay here again if in the area and would highly recommend the cottage itself for families, and the neighborhood in general for anyone. |

Phinney Garden Cottage had it all! Robyn L. from Philomath, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2008 We couldn't have asked for more comfort in a home away from home. As a couple with teen kids, we needed a convenient, private retreat while visiting relatives in Seattle. The Cottage gave us walking distance to family, all the amenities of Phinney Ridge including the excellent Beauty College located 10 blocks North. We especially appreciated the thoughtful, simple furnishings within this ultra-clean house. The upstairs bedroom is tight, but functional for kids. We will be back. |

Stayed for 3 days in October, 2008 I could not find all the recycling bins at one house and none at the other. (We rented two houses this time.)It was a very minor complication. This was the second time I have rented from the agency and everything was really perfect. |

Stayed for 7 days in July, 2008 We had a very pleasant stay and our twins (6 year olds)enjoyed having the attic/secondfloor to themselves. Nice yard with covered porch and lush landscaping etc. Nice neighborhood with fun restaurants, pubs and cafés. I have already recommended the cottage to a couple of friends. perfect size, great location A guest from New York, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2008 I banged my head too many times in the upstairs second bedroom, but it was perfect for our infant daughter. I'd put shades on the windows upstairs, and get a real cutting board that is large enough to be truly usable. Otherwise everything else was really great. We loved the price, location, and the look of the house, especially the front porch and light-filled kitchen. |
