Great house, but a lot of stairs.
The Lancaster Family from Durango, CO,
Stayed for 0 days in March, 2011
This house was huge and worked well for 5 adults & 2 kids (three families total). However, we were very surprised to find that we had to climb about 30 stairs to reach our part of the house...this was extremely difficult for the over two aging grandparents traveling with us. There was never enough hot water for all 5 adults to shower in the morning. Only the master bedroom had a TV. The washer & dryer were so handy to have close by...we did about 8 loads of laundry during our 3 night stay! Wireless internet worked great.

Property Manager Response:
This 200+ year old home is a historic home that was built a couple of centuries ago when lifts and primitive elevators were a luxury. While this renovated home has many modern luxuries, elevators would not be one of those amenities.

This accommodation is not for everybody but costs only a fraction of the price to house three families as one would likely pay to stay in a hotel or give free access to a laundry area that can do "eight loads of laundry." Vacation rentals in the Historic District can be a trade off depending on your budget.

The inside of the house was great except for fridge (didn't seal good). We enjoyed the location. We parked our cars and didn't move them until we left. Everything was in walking distance and we had a great time.

It is very hard to find a place for our large family--my husband and I plus our 4 children under the age of 12. We try to cook in a few times a week, so we need a kitchen. Also my mother-in-law and brother-in-law love Savannah, so they join us to make the 10 complete! It is absolutely beautiful and convenient and feels like our second home.

A group of my best friends from college and I rented this house for a long weekend. It was the perfect place -- excellent condition; plenty of rooms, beds, linens; fantastic location (walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go).

Just right for us

We (my husband and I and our adult children) stayed here while we were in Savannah to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The service was great in that it was invisible; everything that we expected--and more--was just provided. We flew to Savannah and rented a car, which we used only twice. The house is located very near the river, where we spent a lot of time, and trolley stops. B. Matthews Eatery is next door, and we ate breakfast there every day. It's a popular place, and there was almost always someone parked in front of the house. This was OK, though, because we had parking in the rear. The only thing we weren't prepared for was the traffic on Bay Street. Most of the time Savannah is thought of as a vacation destination, but it's also a port city, and there's a lot of truck traffic that starts pretty early in the morning. We adjusted, though: by the time we left, I was sleeping through it.

You can't beat this location!!! Right in the heart of things. There were eight women staying in unit #3 and it was spacious and beautifully decorated. I was forwarned that the outside is in need of some sprucing-up, so the rental fee was reduced and we were happy with the exchange. You'll feel like you lived there forever.

Staying at this home was a very pleasant experience. Upon arrival, we easily found the house and got settled right in. All the decor was up to date. The large dining room table made eating in a breeze. Any location we had planned on visiting in Savannah was within walking distance. This saved us tons of parking fees! I would stay at this home again hands down.

We had a wonderful time, the home is located right in the heart of Savanah, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The home itself was bigger then we needed, which made it more than comfortable. The beds were the best! I don't know if it was the mattress or the sheets, but you just slept so well, it was better than being at home. I guess the least thing we liked was it was quite old and the floors were kind of splintery and were not very even, but what do you expect in an older home! Pat was great, she was more than accomidating.

Great place to stay!
Chosen Few from Atlanta, GA,
Stayed for 0 days in January, 2010
We had a group of 10 people for New Years this past year. This was way more affordable than several hotel rooms and we didn't have to separate ourselves. The kitchen was full stocked with everything we needed to cook and we were very impressed with the house as a whole. The only confusing part was parking. I recommend this place for any group!

Property Manager Response:
Delighted that your group enjoyed the entire top floor of the strategically placed Paul Williams Hamilton House. The other two townhouses within the structure had guests as well for this sell out weekend. Dedicated off street parking is a premium commodity within the Historic District like this property provides and the off street parking for three separate vehicles is a rarity.

Three different groups of guests in three separate private homes, each having a guaranteed off street parking slot, sometimes find themselves competing for the parking slots with the other group for sell out weekends. And this is certainly the case when guests show up in several different vehicles.

The City of Savannah's Parking Services provide 48 hour parking passes for on street parking in most historic district areas for $12. Parking is free on the weekends. Our reservation desk will be happy to provide the details.

Perfect Girls Getaway

For the past 4 years a group of me and my closest girlfriends have vacationed in Savannah's historic district and each time we do, we stay at this beautiful historic home. We are a large group of shoppers, so the large home which accommodates over 20 and its proximity to the Broughton shopping district and the river make it ideal. It's always properly stocked with linens and kitchen items and it's very comfortable. The only complaint is that the home is very old and could use a good pressure washing and paint job. Otherwise, it's a great spot that I'd highly recommend.

A Wonderful Place for a Family to Stay
Big Smokey from Tupelo, MS,
Stayed for 0 days in June, 2009
The home is gorgeous. A little scruffy looking on the outside, but absolutely amazing on the inside. The decor was somewhat eclectic, and very interesting. The old floors, stairs, and high ceilings are a constant reminder that you're staying in a place that was part of another time. We had 8 people staying: My mother, her husband, my brother, his wife, my sister, my wife, our 3-month old baby, and myself. The accomodations were very comfortable (except for ALL the stairs). My brother and his wife stayed on the very top floor and weren't thrilled about having to climb stairs to get inside, stairs to get up to our suite, and then more stairs to get to their room. One of the most appreciated aspects was that the air-conditioning worked. Very important in Savannah in June. The location could not have been much better. Right in the historic district just off the river across from beautiful Emmet Park. Within walking distance of everything (Though according to my sister-in-law, not everyone shares my definition of 'walking distance'). I would most definitely highly recommend this home for people traveling/vacationing with a larger group like we did. It would be perfect for a group of friends that included multiple couples, etc. My only hesitation in recommending staying here would be for people with limited mobility that would have a problem climbing stairs. My brother and sister-in-law who dislike 'activity' made it, however, and so did my mother with her knee replacements.

The best bachelorette trip EVER!
Erin Lee from Raleigh, NC,
Stayed for 0 days in May, 2009
10 girls rented this property for a bachelorette trip and it could not have been better! The house was the perfect size and beautiful inside. The porch was big enough with enough furniture for everybody which is where we spent most of our time. The table on the porch is about to fall apart but it didn't while we were there! It's the PERFECT location and the house has so much character. I would rent it again tomorrow and would recommend it to anyone!

Bachelorette Bash!!!
Audrey from Panama City, FL,

We had SOOOOO much fun that weekend! 6 of us stayed here for a bachelorette party weekend. The house was wonderful and the sleeping accomodations were perfect....very roomy. The loft upstairs has 2 very comfortable queens and a lounger....good for kids or at least 4 adults. Main floor has a Huge master bedroom with an even more comfortable 4 poster King. It has a great back porch with a table and chairs to sip cocktails from or just read a book (very quiet). I would definately rent this place again...and it's within walking distance from River Street and the bar district (Congress St.). We opted for renting a white stretch Excursion from David's Limo to cruise through the historic district. Awesome! You will NOT be disappointed in the place :)

Great Savannah location
jdma from Atlanta, Georgia,
Stayed for 0 days in February, 2009
We stayed at this beautifully restored historic home for my daughter's wedding in Savannah. Rather than stay in a hotel, we thought that a home would provide more room for our family of 8 (It was also more economical). My daughter planned to marry in Washington Square which was just a short walk from the home. Restaurants were just around the corner on Riverwalk and Bay Street. We've just finished looking at the pictures taken of my daughter and the wedding party as she got ready that day. The gorgeous master bedroom provided a wonderful backdrop for our bride. The historic architectural features made the pictures all the better. After the wedding, we all agreed that we couldn't imagine pulling off all the wedding preparations headquartered in a hotel. The home was perfect.

Can't wait to go back
KL from Chicago, IL,
Stayed for 0 days in November, 2008
We came to Savannah for a family wedding and at the last minute decided to rent a house rather than hotel rooms. For less than the cost of a hotel, we stayed in a beautifully restored historic home, with plenty of room (and baths and showers) for our extended family of 12 to relax together. The home is located just across the street from Savannah's riverfront and great shopping and dining. My only "complaint" (and it's a small one): the home is right next door to a restaurant (great food!) and they are up and running early so it's a bit noisy outside the lower level bedroom windows first thing in the morning.

This was our first experience in renting a house for our vacation instead of staying in a hotel. It was fantastic. The location was convenience to the riverfront and Bay street and was in easy walking distance to all the historic area. The comfort that a house provided to us was so much nicer than a hotel could afford us. We definitely will be back.
