Walk up into the past with all of the luxuries of modern day living and convenience. This tastefully refurbished Habersham home is housed in an historic office building built in 1848, across from the original Court House and what is now the Savannah College of Art and Design's Habersham Hall. The building was originally constructed for Alexander Robert Lawton (1818-1896), a Harvard law school graduate who became a confederate Brigadier General in charge of the Georgia coast defenses. The blending of antique wood floors and beams, and brick, melded with stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops in the gourmet kitchen make for a perfect blend of old world charm and modern convenience. Safely located just up the street from the Savannah Police Department Headquarters.

Like most Savannah homes, to take advantage of prevailing breezes and street views, the main entrance is above street level and the front door opens to a broad staircase flanked by Savannah brick leading up to this luxurious two bedroom, two bath home that in addition to the gourmet kitchen with breakfast bar, a sitting parlor with a beautifully detailed fireplace complete with a tapestry, built in bookcases with a wide variety of titles, the requisite electronics including a large flat screen TV, stereo and DVD player, wide-plank hardwood floors, wood rafters throughout, and charming old Savannah exposed brick walls. Private bedrooms with comfortable queen size bedding in each, one includes a tiled master bath and the second highlighted with a second brick fireplace and built-in bookshelves with its own tiled bathroom adjacent. Lots of light and air with the many windows on the front, side and rear elevations and at the same time the white plantation shutters make for a quaint and quiet atmosphere. Catch the river breeze from the back porch and enjoy the shade from the live oak trees out front.

Located in the "heart of the landmark historic district" with easy access to the River, Squares, downtown shopping, historic and noteworthy buildings and architecture, restaurants, cafes, museums, trolley tour pick up, and all the points of interest that Savannah has to offer our intrepid guests.

Additional amenities include dedicated off street parking, high efficiency front load washer and dryer and high speed internet access with a computer and printer.

The Loft was a great location with everything what we needed and more. From here we could go to the beautyfull historic district. Nothing was far away.

Great location. It was a little hard to find as we came into Savannah. I think the driving directions could be a little better explained. The rental is super clean and very charming. There are a lot of stairs to climb to get in the unit but that was fine for us. It had all of the extras that are sometimes needed, such as extra pillows, towels, hair dryer and computer. I would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic Time in Savannah
Pete & Jane from Fredericksburg, VA,
Stayed for 0 days in September, 2012
Our rental and time in Savannah was fantastic. Our home away from home was outstanding. It was well located and allowed us to park the car, get all necessary services and walk to everything we wished to do or visit in the center of Savannah. The accommadations more than met our expectations. Our rental provided a very comfortable and well appointed end to each day. Setting up the rental arrangements, arrival and departure instructions were easily handled. We had a great time in Savannah. We will use Savannah Getaways for our next visit!

We had a wonderful time in Savannah again (2nd time). We were so impressed by the management of Savannah Getaways. They answered all our questions before our trip. Thought they'd get tired of me bugging them so often. We loved the Habersham Hall Home. It was close to everything, roomy, clean and beautiful. Felt it was in a safe location and down the street from the police station. Stairs weren't too bad either. Hoped to make breakfast smoothies every morning but the blender didn't work. Called the management on Easter day and was so shocked to see a new blender at our entrance. Great service!!! Perfect place for two couples or a family of 4. Krogers was just a mile away and a market was a block away. Don't miss Harris Bread Shop down the road. Opens at 7:30 and closes on Mondays. Must see the Ships of the Sea Museum and Harper Fowlkes House (Wed.-Sat.) Thoroughly enjoyed the Higgins and Sellers tour. Smaller tour and they really are funny with lots of surprising facts. Mrs. Wilks Boarding House is a place to go when you're very hungry. They close at 2:00 so if you go there around 1 or 1:30 you won't wait in line too long. Excellent southern food! jazz Festival is worth taking in too. We love the friendly people and beauty of the homes and squares. We can't wait to show off this beautiful city to our friends next year.

Best vacation ever!
B Kimbrel from Griffin,
Stayed for 0 days in March, 2012
My daughter and I had the best vacation ever in Savannah. Our stay at the Habersham Hall House was wonderful. The photos online don't do it justice. It is such a nice place and roomier than you'd think from the photos. The kitchen is very well equipped. When we travel we like to cook some really good meals, dishes that our "fellas" at home don't enjoy. We stayed in a couple of nights and did our own cooking - no problems - they had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we each had our own room and bath. The location of this house is great. We barely used our car at all; we were able to walk nearly everywhere. The house is located so that you can go out walking, come back and take a rest, and go again. Savannah is such a gorgeous city. We also found a tour guide book in the house that layed out several walking tours of the histiric district. This book was so helpful and we liked it so much that we bought one for our own. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to be able to go back again. Thanks so much to Savannah Getaways for providing such a wonderful place to stay!

I found it very easy to book with Savannah Getaways. They have a lot of properties and the people that I dealt with on the telephone helped steer me to this particular property. This property has free reserved parking which is a very big plus. It was well furnished and comfortable. It was within easy walking distance of just about all of the wonderful squares and parks of Savannah. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.

We shared this apartemnt with another couple for a long weekend and this apartement was great. It was clean, perfectly located and charming. We always prefer to stay in small apartments when traveling, definately saves you money and you always have a full size coffee pot!

Fabulous Time
Robin from Englewood Fl.,
Stayed for 0 days in December, 2011
We had a fabulous time staying at Habersham Hall. The location was perfect just a short walk to Broughton & Bay St. It was great having a parking space and not having to carry luggage from a parking garage as we have done on previous occasions. The home has a nice open floor plan, updated kitchen and bathrooms while maintaining the feel of an older historic home.

Nice but could have been better...
KarylAnn from Chicagoland,
Stayed for 0 days in November, 2011
I rented this place because I liked the way it looked. The kitchen area and sitting area were nice. There were plenty of books and some movies. It was nice having a TV in the sitting area as well as one in each bedroom. There also was a computer in one bedroom. Internet connection was quite slow but served our purpose while we were there. It was nice having two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one in suite, one in hall). The shower in the hall bathroom was quite large. The shower in the suite was triangular in shape and a little cramped. The place is located about two blocks from the police station and within walking distance of the squares, the city market, and the shops and restaurants downtown and along the river. With that said, we never felt safe walking around after 8 p.m. While we generally liked the place, we did have a few issues. It smelled like rotten food when we arrived; fortunately, there was a can of Febreeze in the bathroom and a few sprays quickly took care of the problem. There are a lot of stairs. You have to climb a full flight outside of the building from the ground to the second floor. The door to the condo is on the second floor but, upon entering, you have to climb another full flight of stairs to the third floor. In view of the stairs, I would not recommend this place for families with small children, elderly people, and people with walking disabilities. My biggest issue was with the sheets. The sheets had nubbies on them so I presume that they were some kind of cotton/poly blend. Sheets can be clean but, in my opinion, nubbies make them feel dirty, not to mention uncomfortable. Also, the pillows were too firm for our comfort. I would strongly recommend that the owners spend money on better, preferably 100% cotton, sheets and offer at least a couple pillow options. In spite of the foregoing issues, we recommend this place.

Property Manager Response:
Comments have been passed on the owners. Walking around in the Landmark Historic District at night is not for every one from a perception stand point.. In this instance, even those properties that are in the same block as the Savannah Police Department are also in an downtown urban area.

Recommend walking during the day and taking a pedi-cab or carriage at night if there are concerns of walking alone at night.

even better than we expected
Kay Ray from Cincinnati, OH ,

The pictures are great, but the actual apartment is even better. The place has everything you could need. The place is in a quiet neighborhood, with friendly neighbors. This apartment has a nice cozy feel and the beds were so comfy, it was really relaxing, including some restful sleeping after a long day. Everything is so walkable, so we hardly had reason to drive the rental car, even though the parking slot is right next to apartment's back entrance. If you're staying w/ another person, this is a much better deal than many area hotels; it also gives a better feeling of Savannah. Some of our colleagues who opted for hotel felt it lacked the charm of the city. Also, with the fully furnished kitchen, it's great to prepare breakfast at home, although there's a fantastic place to eat b-fast/ lunch just around the corner at Harrison's. There's a market around the corner as well. We plan to stay here next time we're in Savannah. Big thumbs-up to Habersham House!

The correspondence for rental was very easy to complete. Rates were competitive for the market. Key to enter was readily available and we had no problems. We enjoyed the home very much...relaxing furniture and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. My husband enjoyed the kitchen amenities and I enjoyed his cooking. Ideal location close to historic Savannah and River Street. Loved the walks and sightseeing. The stairs were a surprise to us but once up them we were fine. Enjoyed everything about the home. Thanks!

Our 3rd Visit to Savannah. We had another couple with us that had never been to Savannah and they loved it. Savannah has so many great places to eat and hang out. It's a absolutely beautiful City and we love it in the Fall. Food .. Food.. and more Food.. you name it Savannah has it. I suggest Huey's on River Street .. the Shrimp & Grits are some of the best.. everything there was great. Pirates House was also really good... alot better than Paula Deen's with the same food. For fun time go to The Bohemian Rooftop Bar... kinda pricey for drinks but great atmosphere. For just hanging out watching games.. drinking.. great Beer prices .. Jj Bonerz. ..Dont go to Tony Romos .. Service terrible.. overpriced.. and the food was not that good. This Loft ... I cant say enough...Extremely Clean!! Wonderful location and what a great loft!! Had everything we could ever need or want. Extremely nice.. I give it 5 stars .. and we are very picky. Comfortable beds, great linens. Well equipped for cooking, hanging out, reading, books galore .. wish we had more time I would have definately read a book or two. We stayed over Halloween weekend and had a ball, We loved this location.. close enough to walk everywhere but away from all the hustle. We will definately be booking this location again. We will be coming back soon!!! Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Heather D from Orlando,

Two couples were visiting Savannah for a long Labor Day weekend. It was perfect set up with a beautiful kitchen. It was close enough to River Street (the main strip) but far away enough to not be in the middle of the rowdiness. None of us had any disabilities but there several stairs that must be used to get into the unit. There were no other disability-friendly entrance ways. So that may be a concern for a few people. Other than that we had an awesome time!

Habersham Condo is Beautiful!
Mary Lou from Winter Park, FL,
Stayed for 0 days in August, 2011
This property was delightful. We came to Savannah to get away for a few days and that's exactly what Savannah Getaways helped us to do. They were available and prompt with all communications and check in was simple. This is a quiet third floor condo in an 1840's converted office building. It's on a quiet street near one of Scad's many beautiful downtown buildings. just around the corner from the police station and the historical Colonial Park Cemetery. Literally everything in the Historic District is within easy walking distance from this location. The unit is clean, beautifully furnished with lots of conveniences; microwave, dishwasher, computer, large TV, full bookshelf. We were four adults who immediately felt welcomed and stayed there comfortably. Nice mix of old (exposed bricks, wood floors) and new (granite counter tops, stainless appliances). You can tell that the owners love this unit, as well, and it isn't just an income property for them. Good off-street parking. We all love to walk and don't mind stairs, but if you have difficulty climbing keep in mind that it is two flights up, one to the front door landing, one when you get inside the foyer up to the living space. If you can't do the walking, coming and going by car here is not a problem. We were so happy to have switched our plans to a home instead of two hotel rooms right before booking the hotel! We felt immersed in the Savannah culture. If you choose this property, be sure to read up on the history of the original owner of the building. It makes you feel even more connected to the history of the area.

Our family, my husband, myself, college student daughter and active duty son, stayed at 230 Habersham, and were delighted with the accommodations. Close enough to walk to all of the downtown attractions, yet far enough away that the street noise was almost non-existent. The apartment was charmingly furnished and we immediately felt at home. All of us like to cook, and we found the kitchen very well stocked with cookware and appliances. I can't think of anything that we lacked; everything was perfect. We even found a little Christmas tree on one of the bedroom shelves!

I absolutely loved my stay in Savannah - the condo was centrally located and convenient to everything, but far enough away from the main tourist areas. I felt like a local coming and going without the hassles of hotels. I will definitely use Savannah Getaways on my next trip to this perfect city. The checkin/checkout process was simple and seamless. The condo was beautifully decorated with everything you needed for your stay. I may never stay in a hotel again.

My daughter graduated from scad and my husband, my son and I came to Savannah for a week. My daughter was in the process of moving out as well so she stayed with us too! That being said, 308 Habersham St. was incredibly accommodating to all of our needs! The kitchen fully equipped for use, coffee and Splenda as well as to -go cups, cascade and washing detergent for that emergency wash load, quality shampoo and cream rinse, and liquid body wash and hand soaps for hygiene, plenty of closet space, great tv, wonderful natural lighting in the third floor apt. but could be a problem for the physically challenged with luggage and the stairs. We had no problem and we loved the horse carriage tours passing! The back door for fresh air and or coffee on the steps was great! There is no dinning table for more than two so if there is a crowd you have to improvise around the coffee table, which for us was also no problem. There is a great high table that if 4 to 6 chairs were available would make dinning in for more that two possible! The parking in the back was a wonderful advantage for us, and we would definitely stay here again if visiting Savannah.

We were visiting our child, a student at scad. The location was perfect for getting around the area and very quiet at night. The apartment itself was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was so much better than staying in a hotel. You do have to climb stairs so that may not be for everyone.
