El Otro Mundo in Las Campanas is a 5000 sf ft home comprised of a Main House and a Guest House, located on 2 acres with beautiful views of all surrounding mountains. The main house has three bedrooms. The master bedroom with a king bed, large walk-in closet, large bath with spa tub and separate walk in shower. The guest suite has a sitting room, cable TV, DVD, video with bedroom with two full beds a walk-in closet, and a full bath with a walk in shower. Third bedroom with a queen bed and full bath with a tub and shower. The AC in the home is only available in the 2 upstairs bedrooms.The living room has a gas log fireplace with an adjacent dining, seats up to 14 and a game room. There is a large chef's kitchen with a commercial stove and an indoor Hibachi grill. An office room has high speed internet hook up and cable TV. The main house has a very large portal, surrounding 180 degrees of the house, outside commercial grill, two outside gas fireplaces, large outdoor table, seats 8, rocking chairs with a 50 mile view, an outdoor jacuzzi with the same 50 mile view.Nearby, but separate, is a fully self-supporting guest house with isolated privacy. It has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with 2 sets of twin bunk beds, a full bath with walk-in shower. A complete kitchen, a dining and living area separated by a two sided fire place, a washer and dryer, a great portal with rocking chairs that has a most wonderful view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountians.

Family ski trip A guest from Midland, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2013 This was a great place for a ski trip for a family. It is close to town and in a gated community. View was phenomenal! Hot tub was nice 2 of the 4 jets didn't work though. Lots of great spaces outdoors would like to go back in warmer weather. Downside was the bed in the guest house needs a new mattress. The indoor fireplace doesn't work well. It smoked up the entire house. We had 2 firemen with us so I don't think it was operator error, maybe it just needs to be cleaned??? Anyway it was a fantastic place to stay and we enjoyed it. Some of the house it update and some not, but overall it is a great property and really pretty. Also the staff at Kokopelli was very nice and helpful. There is a person who takes care of the property and we had trouble with the hot water the first night. Next day while we were skiing that got it taken care and they made several contacts to let us know they were on top of it. Stayed for 4 days in January, 2013 El Otro Mundo in Las Campanas was a great house for our ski vacation.The had around 18" of snow the day before we arrived so we timed it perfectly!The house was in great condition when we arrived and we spent the first night looking around at the scenic views. The house was just right for the number of people we had(13). We did use the guest house right next to the main house for one family of 4. Each bedroom had it's own bath which was nice. We cooked steaks on the outdoor grill. The kitchen was setup nicely and the living room was spread out enough for us all to relax after a day of skiing. One drawback was the one TV in the back bedroom. It would have been nice to have one in the general living area, but it was ok.We had no isuues during our stay. We had a easy check-in and check-out. There was room for us all, and the hill behind the home was perfect for sledding.The views from the home were great and we wereonly 10-15 minutes from town. The skiing was atSanta Basin was excellent.There were several roof leaks..on the stairwell, in two of the bathrooms, one in the mainroom on which one of the grandchildren slipped and fell (no injury!),etc Other than needing a roof fix, the house was superior. Some of the online listings listed a rate of $400 daily until 12-15, but the rate I received was $800 per night beginning 12-12.All personnel involved were nice and professional. It is a spacious executive home quietly tucked away in the hills with great views and many nice amenities. For the most part, we enjoyed our stay. Since you are asking me what can be improved to allow future renters to enjoy the property even more than we did....there are a few items which I want to mention:...though the two upstairs bedrooms have air conditioners, they do not adequately cool those rooms during weather in the mid to high 80's. The other rooms do not have AC and many of the windows have signs that say "Do Not Open", so it is difficult to get a cross breeze. Bottom line...If you are a person who needs to feel cool all the time, do not rent this property during hot weather....there is only ONE, yes ONE, TV (in a bedroom) of the main 5500 sq. ft home and no stereo system. This is stated in the rental description so it was not a surprise to me but be aware....the main outside patios are spacious but the portals above them do not have any lights or minimal lighting after sundown. ...the barb q grill area needs stronger lighting as well for grilling after dark...the home is 18 years old and thus the lighting throughout is very dim, especially in the kitchen...the ceiling above the laundry room is still under repair. I saw this condition mentioned in previous reviews. Same for the ice maker in the main kitchen. It is still not fixed either.Why not?...the indoor waterfall was permanently shut off, but was listed as an "operating" amenity in the rental write up. So, this was a surprise to us...the refrigerator is old and many of the appliances ie...toaster, coffee maker are old fashioned and are an inexpensive replacement optionsA few more pleasant items...the property caretaker, Fred, is available to come over, answer any questions and tell you how things work. He was very friendly and helpful...the housekeeping service delivered an iron and ironing board quickly after we requested them... Stayed for 5 days in May, 2012 This is a difficult questionaire to complete as the home and setting was beautiful and we enjoyed it immensely. It is obvious that no expense was spared in the building and furnishing of this home. It is by far the most well appointed and stocked home we have ever rented. We were there for a wedding and were able to entertain 30 for dinner without any trouble. The kitchen was amazing. Maintenance was a little bit lacking. The weeping wall was not working, light bulbs needed replacing,minor things that did not affect our stay to any great length. My main complaint was the management co. When we arrived there was a distinct odor of gas in the casita. Emergency numbers provided were called and not answered for over an hour. Although the person responding was very nice, I did not feel an urgency in responding. Instead of contacting the gas co. a plumber was sent who told us the odor was from the drains in the bathroom due to not being used in awhile. Against our better judgement we accepted his reasoning, and slept with the windows open and a determination not to use the gas stove. In the am the odor was stronger dispite showers taken and windows open. Again the mg. company and caretaker was called along with the plumber with a urgent request to send the gas co. Again messages left with all of the above received no immediate response. The plumber finally arrived and found that there was indeed a gas leak in the tubing leading to the stove. This situation could possibly have been fatal and little concern or action was shown by the management co. for our safety or for the owner's property and liability. The house was wonderful and I would definitely recommend it. The management company NO Way, they chose their financial reward over the safety of their clients, both renters and owners. Not allowed to open windows in majority of home (those that did open had no screens and it was quite hot. No remote for upstairs AC and advised not to use. ??? Sofa sleeper was broken. Internet range was limited. Only one side of oven and stove top in main house worked which limited cooking for large group. Some light bulbs burned out. Average cleanliness. However overall everyone had room to move and enjoyed the home. Big plus dining and outdoor seating for a large group, as well as dishes, glasses, utensils. Management did call to check our satisfation within 24 hours. Did not return call with observations because we were enjoying our multiple whirlwind vacation excursions at the time. In fact, our grandkids said they never wanted to leave! The facility is quite impressive and amenable to large groups like ours. There are a couple of nits, however. 1. Your website advertised the facility as having multiple HD TVs. We could see where there appeared to have been TVs mounted on the walls (the wires were observable), but they had been removed. The one remaining TV (in the den, which one of our grandkids used as a bedroom) was really not sufficient. We compensated somewhat with our laptops, but the bottom line is that your website was misleading. 2. The lighting in the main house was an issue. Some light bulbs were missing, and some lighting was simply insufficient (particularly, in the kitchen). I never did fully figure out how to turn some of the ceiling lights on/off. Also, the decks were blocked off, which prevented us from fully realizing the views that, I presume were gorgeous had we been able to stand on the decks and view the scenery from a high point. These are the reasons I'm not giving you a 5 rating on the property's general condition. I'd give you a 2.5, if that option were available. 3. There was dust over almost everything in the 2nd upstairs bedroom and dead bugs in the light fixtures. Evidently, it hadn't been used or cleaned for some time. So, Im giving you a 3 rating on cleanliness.Overall, however, we had a great time in NM, visiting old friends, enjoying the spectacular scenery once again, doing some hiking, and gorging on the NM-style food, which we can't get here back east. So, in the end, I'd rate our trip as a 10.A few minutes ago, I discovered a single key on a ring in a pocket in a pair of my husband's pants. He evidently forgot he had it there. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2011 Well, first off, I accidentally rented this house for February when I needed it for March. The two months had the same days on the same day of the week. My bad, I'm out alot of money. I didn't find out my error until getting an email asking me to rate my stay. I'm irritated I had NO contact from the property manager asking me if I had some kind of problem DURING the time I had it rented since obviously no one had shown up to occupy it. I'm irritated that the property manager made no reimbursement of cleaning or other fees that were obviously not used. It is nice she after the fact offered "help" but I didn't want to pay another $3000 for the same vacation.
