Property Reviews
634 Garcia #3
Catherine D. from Dallas, TX does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 8 days in December, 2012
The property was not clean, specifically the kitchen. The counters had not been properly cleaned, glasses had been put away that were not washed. I re-washed the linens, cleaned the kitchen, re-washed glasses and silverware and dishes to be sure. The bed in the master was so hard I had to buy a featherbed to make it a bit more comfortable. There's a problem with the radiant heat. The kitchen floor was so hot I nearly burned my feet. There was no way to regulate the heat so we had doors and windows open. I did report this to Carol. The house is well-situated; we were very lucky with that. It's a beautiful, well-appointed house that needs some TLC before it gets rundown.

This is in a great location, your not 4 miles from everything, and maybe a mile or mile and a half to town. Fully equipped, clean and a wonderful private yard. We would stay here again.

634 Garcia St, #3
A guest from Seattle, WA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 5 days in September, 2012
We loved the location of this property, its condition was okay, but the cleanliness issue was troublesome. On our arrival we found a layer of heavy dust in all of the shelves of the master bathroom and discarded tissue by the bathroom garbage can. Cleaning had happened but on a very superficial basis. The beds however were very compfortable and the outdoor spaces were better than expected.

Great month at Garcia Gardens!
A guest from Stephenville, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 31 days in July, 2012
This home is decorated beautifully and very comfortable. We walked to the plaza or Canyon Road every day. Upon arrival we found dirty dishes (coffee cups and plates) in the cabinets, but that was the only cleanliness issue. Rhonda, Marcia and Kokopelli were very helpful and resolved minor problems within hours. This was our second vacation with Kokopelli and we are in the process of reserving another month next summer.

Garcia Street Gardens Challenges
Leslie J. from Bethesda, MD recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in June, 2012
We arrived during one of the hottest summers in memory in Santa Fe. Had we known how bad it was, we would have rented a place with AC. That's not Kokopelli's problem, but property management is. When we arrived it appeared as though the house had been unused for a long time. It was musty, the fridge was warm, and there was clothing filling both of the closets. The property advertised evaporative coolers, but Kokopelli delivered them after we arrived. One leaked and had to be replaced. Several of the windows did not open. The home and its fixtures were lovely. With a little TLC it could have been a great stay. In the future, and particularly given the severe weather in the Southwest, I would recommend that Kokopelli do a better job of airing the house and ensuring that all appliances and windows are working properly. I would also ask that the resident's clothing be placed in storage - it is very off-putting to find someone else's clothes in the closet.

Stayed A Month

What a wonderful place to test drive Santa Fe living. Garcia Gardens gave us a delightful taste of what it would be like to call the Mystical City home. Not only did we enjoy our stay as tourists, we even met the neighbors! The quaint casita was authentically southwestern and exquisitely appointed with the owners' eclectic furnishings and artwork. It was smart and stylish, yet perfectly unpretentious. After four weeks, it truly felt like home. The two bedrooms were cozy and comfortable and the bathrooms and kitchen were clean and modern. Best of all, the location near the heart of the historic east side, allowed us to explore one of Santa Fe's most interesting neighborhoods on foot and experience it like natives. The property offered a beautiful walled yard that was ideally suited to the two dogs that the owners generously consented for us to bring along and the huge flagstone terrace afforded great space for outdoor dining and socializing.Even the couple of nuisances (an old grill and faulty fridge) were quickly remedied by the helpful folks at Kokopelli. The best test of a rental like this ... would we do it again? The answer, quite simply, is in a heart beat.

Done with Kokopelli
Brett & Diane A. from Santa Fe, New Mexico does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 4 days in February, 2012
We have used Kokopelli a few times in the last few months. Though Marcia the reservation specialist is excellent, the housekeeping and maintenance staff are incredibly disorganized and dysfunctional. We had to request half a dozen times that people not just show up with no notice to work on the house, but we were ignored. A few days ago, someone tried to enter with a key while I was sleeping. All three times we stayed with Kokopelli, we had to clean the houses on arrival and even replace out dead lightbulbs, etc.. Sadly, I cannot recommend them anymore.

Garcia Street Gardens -- Small House in 1920's Artist Community
A guest from Burlingame, CA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 7 days in October, 2010
This house is well situated on Garcia St to the Santa Fe attractions. Its at the end of a small cul-de-sac which started as a Artist's Colony at the beginning of the 1900's. If you look closely you can see for example the horse stalls that were later turned into Casita's. The house itself is small but has a spacious yard. It has been somewhat modernized but does not have any cooling (swamp or AC) which made it hot and uncomfortable during our stay. We had to run noisy fans all the time. We ate outside on the patio almost all the time, to avoid the heat. The large yard, patio and cement floors of the house made it ideal for our canine friends. The decor of the house was an eclectic mix of pueblo, old and new Santa Fe and something best described as Spanish Inquisition. Being sensitive to our surroundings, we improved the situation by selectively covering some of the paintings with towels. The next greatest fault of this rental is that the master bedroom and kitchen is tiny and cramped. We ended up putting all our clothes and suitcases in the guest room located all the way across the house. The guest or kids room should really be the master. Lastly, when we arrived there was a large 16x12 rug rolled up in the middle of the living room (meant to replace the old sissel rug that was on the floor). With a great deal of effort we shoved it into the kids room, where it blocked our movement only part of the time, and only tripped over it once or twice.

Every thing was great except the cleanliness, especially in the kitchen
Reviewed by: Cynthia W. recommends this property.

The property is very nice, and Kokopelli is an excellent company to work with. The only negative was that the property was not clean, especially the kitchen. There were blobs of food and grease on the cabinets, light switches and appliances. I cleaned all the light switches when we arrived because they looked so dirty. The cabinets with the dishes were clean and organized, but the pantry, under the sink, and the pot & pan cabinets were both dirty and disorganized. The table had blobs of a previous meal on it.The bathrooms and bedrooms were pretty clean. The house and yard are wonderful, and a good cleaning would work wonders, particularly when guests are charged a cleaning fee as part of the lease.Thank you, and have a Merry Christmas.
