Wedding Guests Weekend Celebration
jkdolan-slc from Salt Lake City, Utah,
Stayed for 0 days in September, 2013
The Dolan family rented the Bear Trap for a long weekend for the wedding party and friends to stay from out of town. The bride and groom and the groom's parents, Kevin & Lisa Dolan, met with Dan Knopp in the Spring to reserve the Sliver Fork lodge and to reserve the Bear Trap for guest. This is a terrific place to host a weekend of celebration with most comfortable lodging and access to so many activities. The Bear Trap comfortable accommodates 20-25 people with two kitchens, pool table, ping pong, hot tub and fire pit right outside. Also includes wifi, big screen tv with game access and fire places. Dan Knopp and his crew were most helpful over the entire weekend for any questions or assistance with appliances, ice access, or virtually anything else. We would highly recommend the Bear Trap to any group for any season - what a great place for the ski season!

Best Memories of My Life
Tristanski from The Woodlands, TX,
Stayed for 0 days in August, 2013
I've been lucky enough to spend Christmas at the Bear Trap Lodge many times over the last 30+ years. I've seen the cabin progress, develop, and improve. I hope it never outgrows it's amazing mountain cabin feel and presence. There are too many empty mountain mansions overpriced and underused by the ultra rich. Bear Trap maintains a level of affordability while still providing Viking stoves, Sub Zero fridges, new couches, top tier hot tub and sauna, and other fun amenities. Bear Tap has been the setting for thousands of families to re-connect, recreate, and rejoice. It is unique and wonderful. And all my cousins agree - our favorite memories of our entire lives took place at Bear Trap Lodge.

Great Family Reunion Place for lots of activities indoors and ou
Bob Barker from La Palma, California,

We stayed at this lodge 21 years ago. It has been upgraded and some additions made. We had a few clunkers like a small water leak from an ice maker water line and an oven that didn't work just right, but with 2 kitchens we made out ok. Just a lot of walking up & down stairs between kitchens. Outside fire ring was a hit. Lot of table space for games and the beds were much better than we thought they would be. Just far enough off the main road to be out of the traffic noise up the mountain. Very enjoyable!!

Property Manager Response:
Thanks for the review Bob. We're glad you had a great time. We will take care of the "clunkers".

We have stayed at Bear Trap multiple times. It is our favorite family retreat. Plenty of room for a large family or group of people. It even has a hot tub! Minutes away from Brighton or Solitude ski resorts. We will definitely be coming back for more.

Family Fun
L. Bennett from southwest Iowa,
Stayed for 0 days in August, 2012
Our families came from Iowa, Arizona and Utah to meet at Bear Trap Lodge. The lodge was large enough for 14 grandchildren and 9 adults to have their own space and bedrooms. The atmosphere of the lodge and surrounding area is very pleasant and relaxing. We had pool and ping pong tournaments which was enjoyed by all ages. Our stay at Bear Trap Lodge was very comfortable and well enjoyed by all.

Dated and Dirty
Unhappy from Salt Lake City, UT,
Stayed for 0 days in August, 2012
The location is very nice. The views are great. It is a very large rental that easily accomodated our entire group. Plenty of space for dining and socializing. The cabin is dated and was not very clean. Their were mice running throughout the place. The maintenance on the cabin has been lacking. The dishwasher did not work, and it was apparent that it has not for some time because the inside of the dishwasher was coated in soap as well as all of the dishes in the cabinets. Someone had taken the cable to the DVD player. Only 1/4 of the hot tub works. The decks need to be repaired to be safe. We had lots of fun with outdoor activities, but for the cost of the cabin We were expecting more. I think it was a bad value and would not recommend it.

Not super clean, but what can you expect when you have large groups going in and out. It was clean enough, and there was a lot of room to move around. Lots of fun for our family (7 adults and 10 kids).

Disappointing
Peggy from Utah,
Stayed for 0 days in July, 2011
This lodge was in a great location and the staff who came to help us get in the lodge and fix some of the issues were great. It appeared, however, that several things needed repair and was just not the quality we were expecting based on the cost. The microwave had to replaced, the hot tub was not working (no jets), carpets were stained and not clean, (staff was willing to come and clean them, but we didn't want to worry about the chemcials, and staying off the carpets duriing our stay), rodent droppings were in the kitchen cupboards, but, again, the staff was great to come and clean up after the critters... some of the windows did not have screens on them, so, because it was hot, we had to put up with the bugs that would enter through the open windws. We had safety concerns for the kids who loved the upper loft, because the screen was not secure on that window.

Property Manager Response:
We are also disappointed. We work with a local company to provide cleaning, guest services, and property maintenance for the Beartrap Lodge. They have a good track record - as other reviews will show - but in this case they dropped the ball. We have contacted them and required improvement. We will follow up to make sure guests expectations are met. Thank you for letting us know!

Everything was great except one night the alarm on the fridge buzzed all night long, keeping everyone on the main floor awake. My husband sat up in the kitchen all night to keep hitting the off button when it would go off. Other than that everything was great.

Utah Reunion from South Jordan, UT,
Stayed for 0 days in May, 2011
We loved the home overall - but there were a few problems that we have found are common in rentals. The dishes, kitchen equipment, etc. were sadly lacking. We were missing common items, but had multiples of things we would never use. It could have been cleaner, but was acceptable. When we called for dishwasher detergent, etc... the property manager was kind enough to come within a few hours (it was Memorial Day weekend - so we appreciated that) Good access - even with snowy weather - and beautiful area. Good value for what we paid.

We loved staying at the Bear Trap lodge. My whole extended family stayed for Thanksgiving. Having 2 kitchens was great we were able to prepare a meal for 30 people and do it together. They also have a huge dining table plus another table so we were able to all sit together. We loved the scenery the kids could sled right outside the front door, they loved the hot tub as well. We would like to make it a family tradition every other year we liked it so much!

The Greatest Ski adventure of all Times...
Bugsycat from Honolulu,
Stayed for 0 days in January, 2010
Whoa... this place is super super super hard to find. We had to go to the Silverfork Lodge on the main road to ask for directions. As it turns out, the manager of this lodge owns the Bear Trap Lodge. "How Convenient!" So with his help, our large group of family and friends were able to finally start our very special winter vacation. The place is tucked away behind trees... on a hidden road that is off the main road, maybe just a quarter mile down the road from the Silverfork Lodge. It is secluded and away from other homes so it's almost like being completely away from civilization. When we finally found the place and opened the doors, it turned out to be bigger than what we had expected. Lot's of space for everyone with room to spread out and relax. At night, the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful with the brilliant night sky putting on a planetarium show for us. We had a perfect blend of snowfall and clear nights for the week that we had the lodge to our selves. Everyone had a fantastic time enjoying the house and the nearby ski resort. Being only a few minutes away from several really great mountain resorts made this an incredibly convenient base camp. Some of the really enjoyable aspects of the Bear Trap Lodge were the sauna, jacuzzi, cozy fireplace, and large surrounding yard that gave us a lot of space to make our snowman and to have our snowball fights, and to have our outdoor camp fire where we could roast our marshmallows. On our last day there, it was so very hard to say goodbye to this place. We do want to come back some day... and all of us can thank the Bear Trap Lodge for giving us some of our fondest memories of our lives.

Property Manager Response:
Thanks for letting us be a part of your vacation and memories. We look forward to your returning visit.

Stayed for 0 days in December, 2009
We had 23 family and friends for 9 days. It snowed 2 of the days so we skied some powder. That was awesome. The house was huge but I would like it a little cleaner and updated. Sauna did not work the whole time and the owner did try to fix it and was waiting on some parts. The first day we were there we saw a vehicle down the valley and turned over so that made everyone slow down. Be careful. Great time had by all.

Weber Family Reunion from Elko, Nevada,
Stayed for 0 days in July, 2009
The lodge was perfect for our family reunion. It provide enough space for the entire familiy and had great activity options (pool table, ping pong, tv) for all the kids. The two kitchens were ideal for a large group. We used one for breakfast and lunch and the other (along with the grill) for dinners. The lodge is in a great location by being close to summer activity areas at the top of the canyon (Brighton, lakes, etc.) and also close enough to other activities in the Salt Lake City valley. My only suggestion is to have wash clothes along with the towels. Thank you for letting us check in early. The folks at the Silver Fork lodge were wonderful as well. Thank you for a great time at the lodge. We will certainly recommend it to others.
