A guest from Calabasas, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2014
While this property isn't fancy or luxe, it is like-new, sparklingly clean, incredibly well-stocked (from kitchen wares to beach accessories), and very comfortable. The location simply could not be better - it's super close to the Princeville center and the best beaches on the North Shore. And we are convinced there isn't a rental property with a better view anywhere on the island - out the living room and bedroom windows is a sweeping, breathtaking, totally unobstructed view of verdant shoreline, turquoise water and coral reefs, and the historic lighthouse in the distance, and at night from the patio or the bed you can see a jet black sky absolutely encrusted with stars. No need for AC - the ocean breezes keep it cool and lovely all day long. It's a top unit, so very quiet and private - just you and the sound of the surf! And the Sealodge complex is quiet, uncrowded, and well-maintained. Thank you, G9, for an ideal, affordable week.

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 8 nights. The first thing we noticed was how immaculate it was. So clean and welcoming. The breeze when you opened the windows, delightful. The unit had beach chairs, beach towels and boogie boards. The property was quiet the whole stay. The view is the main reason we will return! We miss it already! So happy with our choice to stay here!

Absolutely loved staying in G-9, aka 38 steps, for my all too short stay on the north shore of Kauai. The condo was a great place to use as base camp for a couple days of running around, but even better, a fantastic place to just hang out for a quiet relaxing day. Never a dull moment there with the most interesting weather to witness, birds to enjoy, ocean views to mesmerize, trail to a near private beach to hike and then shell search (and I saw some younger folks snorkel right there).... And can't forget to mention sunset to marvel at, followed by the twinkle of the Kiluea lighthouse for a nightly light show. Just perfect for us! Private, yet nestled among other similar units, the architecture was also an interesting bonus. As far as furnishings and tools to make the stay comfy - yup, everything you could possibly need was there. (One exception, paper products i.e. Toilet paper, was a bit scarce so just be forwarded on that one.) Hope to make my way back to G-9 one day. It's back on the bucket list, not crossed off!

A guest from Los Angeles, CA recommends this property.

We had a great time in Princeville. The condo was a relaxing way to end our vacation. We spent the first few days on the western side of the island hiking in Waimea and beach hopping. We hiked and camped at the Na Pali coast for 4 nights. So our last week was spent in this condo. There were beautiful views, great location and the upstairs unit was quiet and private! The deck could use some upgrades. (Honestly, I had to fix some of the flooring because of old rusty nails that were exposed because the wooden tiles were off and the shower head could be replaced with something more modern. The apartment was great otherwise. Those are minor in the grand scheme. Comfortable bed and the overall cleanliness was positive.

Our unfortunate timing.
Robin L. from Huntington beach, California recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in February, 2014
These comments should not be used to rate this condo. Normally it would have been fine. Unfortunately we had cold wind and heavy rain our whole visit so we were stuck indoors the entire week. The windows are not sealed very well so it was drafty and wet. Water actually pooled up near the glass door and filled the window sills. The furniture is fine for short term. Normally we wouldn't be staying indoors for much time but after awhile it was difficult to find a comfortable place to sit. It was cold at night and in the morning so a small space heater would have been nice. Like I said this was not a typical situation but I would not be truthful if I said we were comfortable. The view would have been great if the weather had cooperated.

Fantastic views
A guest from San Diego, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in December, 2013
This property has unbelievable views from almost every room. If you like the less touristy side of the island, the location of the condo is also very good. (Traffic in and around Kapaa and Lihue is brutal during the week). Decor is also very nice. Plenty in-house plates, bowls, etc to cook in. Parking is also easy and close. Sealodge units themselves are a older, so that is a downside if you are looking for something modern. My only two recommendations are for replacing the screen in bathroom as fruit flies made their way in the hole; and I'm not sure if it were do to spraying when I was there but there was a 2" red centipede in the kitchen I had to show a new home. Overall, a nice property with great views and a good price. I would recommend staying there to others.

This is a very nice apartment, with great views, a full kitchen, and everything you need for your beach vacation (including towels, snorkeling gear, and buggy boards). The only (minor) issue was that the internet did not work out of the box and it took some back and forth to get it working, but everything else was fantastic.

Amy M. from St. Louis, MISSOURI recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013
You couldn't ask for a better view than this lovely condo! Very comfortable, perfect for a couple. The many windows set up a cross breeze that cooled the place down perfectly. The lanai was windy, but the sitting area facing the ocean was almost as good as sitting outside, without the wind and rain! The snorkeling and beach gear was very convenient. On the negative side, there was no coffee, no sugar, and no soap or shampoo for the shower. Also, the sheets were very musty/ mildewy. Maybe this is because they hadn't been used recently (the air was very humid and everything had a dampish feel), but I suspect housekeeping got impatient and put the sheets back on before they were completely dry. Fortunately with the in-unit washer and dryer it was easy to wash the sheets, and subsequent nights were more comfortable!Bottom line, this is a great budget condo with a great view, but a few more basics would be welcome (coffee!!).

Jim H. from Winnipeg, Manitoba recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013
The property is very comfortable and has great ocean views from the Lanai and the front window which was our preferred location as it was often very windy on the Lanai. Great views from the bedroom as well and when the windows were open you were afforded great ocean breezes which cooled the condo quickly,Only negative of the property would be the BBQ facilities which were not gas or convenient for condo owners. Well I guess one could also say reception to Internet was inconsistent as well but we were there for the scenery, the hiking and the access to Hanalei Bay which is beautiful for morning and evening walks. Also has amazing sunsets. We were pleased with our stay and when we had a monor issue with the patio door it was fixed that day.

This place was so clean and well-equipped...very charming.Loved the feel, welcoming and warm. The view was breathtaking!Sunrise over the ocean straight out through bedroom window..what a pleasure. Great outside deck..magnificent view.It was hot first night without a/c, but we figured out how to keep windows and fans on to make it cool..then it was fine. Rooster woke me up 1st night at 4:30Am until 7 am..really annoying. Couldn't close the window because it would be too hot. My only real complaint..next 2 days it rained so I guess the rooster wasn't around ,but really? Surprised something isn't done about that..I can't be he only person who lost sleep..surprised if the entire Sealodge got any sleep that night. Ridiculous! Loved the unit though and surprisingly would return, in spite of the rooster. Btw, they are all over the island! The island is the most lush, gorgeous place I have ever seen..can't wait to return someday.

Outstanding view. Beautiful location. Place was well equipped, clean, comfortable. Despite being on a cliff, could easily hear the ocean. Very peaceful. Relatively short and easy trail down to the beach. We were on the top floor which gave us a great view of the water, but of course was a chore hauling luggage up and down the stairs. Princeville area and north shore is much quieter and less hectic than the busy areas of Kapaa and Poipu. Management people were never seen. The one time I went to the office, no one was there. The TV hook-ups for HDMI and video were on the back and very hard to access. Overall, a great place. One of our all time favorites.

A guest from sunnyvale, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in February, 2013
Very nice view of the ocean. It was too windy to sit outside. No noise from the neighbors, but the wind was very loud. More stairs than expected. Kitchen was small and oven fan was very greasy and smelled. Cooking equipment needed updating and we ended up eating out more instead of using the kitchen. Queen size bed was comfortable. Not a luxury condo, but for the price it was a good value in Princeville near the golf course and shopping center. Trail to beach at the bottom of the cliff is hazardous, two mile walk to beach at the hotel which is accessible from stairs behind the hotel, many beaches a close drive, but parking can be a problem.

A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in December, 2012
G9 was bigger than I'd expected from the photos. Not that it mattered because any time we spent in the place was spent out on the balcony. What an amazing view! And the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep at night. The decor feels a bit to me like your Grandma's place in the late 80's if she lived in Hawaii. And I don't mean that in a bad way! It's a wonderful place at not a bad rate that I'd highly recommend to anyone. My only complaint would be that the comforter and the pillow shams, especially, need a good washing. Other than that, it felt clean and well maintained. P.S. A helpful tip, keep your food in the fridge as those tiny little Kauai ants will help themselves to it!

Great deal at a wonderful property
A guest from Alyso Viejo, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012
This review is for Sealodge G9.What a great deal. I found this unit last minute on VRBO with Ahh Aloha Rentals. I too was nervous after reading trip advisor reviews about mold and a noisy couch and construction, however NONE of these problems existed. The unit was very clean and well stocked. There were boogie boards, snorkel gear, bug spray, hairdryer, pots, pans, baking pans, very cute dishes, beach towels, chairs and more. The bed is amazingly comfortable, reminded me of Westin's Heavenly Beds. I also liked the pillows and the sheets smelled nice too. The couch was comfortable enough and not noisy, to refute one of the previous reviews about this unit I read. It's a small 1-bedroom unit, where part of the bedroom wall is a fold up screen, so the room opens up and makes the unit more like a large studio, kind of. Hard to describe, but was great for myself and would work well for a couple or maybe a couple with a small child. The view of the ocean is astounding from this unit. I sat on the lanai to enjoy coffee over the ocean, saw the waves crashing through the living room windows, and woke up in the morning with the sun coming up over the ocean through the bedroom window. Awesome. There is a view of the mountains from the kitchen and you can hear the birds sing in the morning.I was a little skeptical about the blue countertops and mint green walls from the pictures, but when you see it in person it really is very cute. This complex is in the high end Princeville resort area on the north shore. A beautiful area close to great beaches and the NaPali coast. Heaven on earth in my opinion. The condo was so nice for me I could have lounged around it for my whole trip! The exterior of the buildings are kind of ugly and outdated, but the interior was very clean and cute which well made up for that.I would recommend this property to anyone.

Overall this place is absolutely amazing -- the view is gorgeous and it is lovely in appointment -- that is the color scheme of the decorations etc are very nice. The expansive view is unmatchable. I found the kitchen to not be well equipped -- definitely missing some things. Also, I have rented a lot of condos and there are usually some staple spices etc -- there wasn't even salt here! My last complaint is that the mattress and pillows along with the couch are not 100 percent comfortable to sit in or sleep in. I think some new high quality pillows on the bed could change everything. all that said, I will return because its a stunning spot that I could hardly tear myself away from and the value is beyond amazing. Sealodge beach is great. Its a bit of a hike but a wonderful spot. I love this place.

The unobstructed views down to the lighthouse and of the ocean right from the cliffs really made this unit (G-9. While not large and not luxurious, it had everything we needed located in a clean, well cared for and very quiet complex. If I could wish for anything it would be a BBQ area for each cluster instead of the single small facility, but we managed anyway. We would go back and recommend to a friend. The owners kept a great logbook and you got to know them and get a family feel as they remodeled and worked on the place over the years. This was our 3rd trip to Kauai and this was by far the best place we have stayed in.

A Great Place to Stay on the North Shore!
Tim - Naomi F. from Elmore, VT recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011
We chose this condo for our honeymoon stay on Kauai, and it was wonderful. The views were almost unreal! So beautiful to watch the sunrise every morning and to listen to the sound of the waves each night. The sunset can also be seen from the front steps, and the mountains out the kitchen window. Everywhere we looked it was something gorgeous! The condo had everything we needed and was just right for us. It was within good distance to many beaches and the stores too. Wish we could have stayed longer! And would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Kauai. Aloha.

Great place to stay on the North Shore. Very convenient to Hanalei town and north shore beaches. Million dollar ocean views. Very quiet, secluded unit with great tradwinds that sweep thru the unit to keep you cool. We wouldn't stay anywhere else on the North Shore.

Sunrise over Kiluea
Kent P. from Bothell, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in April, 2011
We had a wonderful stay of 3 nights at Sealodge G9. The pictures did not do it justice. It was easy to get to, quiet, wonderful and felt like home and the view is spectacular. The second day of our stay there was my wife's birthday and we awoke to the most beautiful sunrise over Kiluea lighthouse. It was a most unforgetable moment and and also our whole stay. Thank you and we plan to come stay again.

Dramatic ocean and mountain views, pleasant grounds, private yet accessible
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in February, 2011
Sealodge G9 exceeded our expectations. We will have this property on our preferred list for future trip planning. Very clean and uncluttered yet with just the right kitchen, laundry and bathroom supplies available. Nicer perks compared to other higher-priced vacation rental condos.

Great Views, Great Value!
Doug W. from Pinckney, MI recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in February, 2011
The unit was in great shape and very accommodating for two people. Very quiet, and great views. We saw whales in the water every day and watched the sun come up each morning. The location was a bit far from Kapaa/Lihue, but well worth it once we got back to for the evening. This is a bargain compared to any other lodging with ocean views. Strongly recommend!!

Beautiful Oceanside Condo in Quiet Location
A guest from St. Paul, MN recommends this property.
Stayed for 12 days in January, 2011
This condo was in a perfect location with spectacular views of the ocean. The actual condo complex is extremely quiet at all times of the day and night. The condo was pleasantly decorated and had everything a visitor could ask for. The contact for the condo was helpful in arranging for tours and activities.

Love the upgrades to G9 - nicer linens and new coverings on furniture. Would be nice if closet area wasn't so crowded with stuff - no room for our stuff! But other than that, this place is just delightful. The view, the furnishings, the comfort and the quiet of Sealodge make our stays in Kauai exceptional.

Great Sunrise View!
Patti C. from Lombard, IL recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in September, 2010
This is really living in Paradise! The unit doesn't look great from the parking lot, so we were a little nervous, but it had everything you could possibly want inside, and an amazing view of the sun rising over the Lighthouse. Snorkel gear, coolers, chairs, umbrellas, coffee grinder, comfy bed with sound of waves all night, laundry. And Jeanie rocked for talking over ideas of what to do and for setting trips up for us! Can I give this place 10 stars?

Excellent Visit In A Wonderful Unit
Teri H. from Burlington, KY recommends this property.

The vista from this unit was wonderful. The unit was stocked with everything we might need. The only problem we had was the combination lock to the door was faulty and needed to be fixed. David responded quickly and it was fixed. Thank to all who made this visit possible.

No key under rug, found out that door had cipher lock and we did not have code. Finally got it from the condo manager.

Property Manager Response:
Response from Ahh Aloha Kauai Vacation Rentals
Sorry Jerry, you were the first guest when we switched from a standard key to keyless entry system, and you went with old check-in instructions. Our oversight :-( It's much easier for guests not to have to worry about keeping track of a key, and fortunately we have a 24-hour emergency number for unforseen events like yours. Warmest aloha and hope you'll return soon.
