A Wonderful stay
A guest from YUMA, Arizona recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in May, 2013
Pali Ke Kua 102 is a wonderful vacation is well located with a shopping center and restaurants located nearby. It's very well stocked with kitchen equipment, beach chairs and mats and a cooler. The air conditioner in the bedroom worked very well, we only needed it two nights of our seven night stay. The bed is very comfortable and the linens are very soft. The view is just to die for and the sound of the ocean is very relaxing. Ahh Aloha was very easy to work with and responded immediately to all my emails. My only complaint is you can hear the people in the upstairs unit walking around and there's not much you can do about that. All in all a wonderful place to stay.

Great spot for getaway.
A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in April, 2013
Really nice, clean condo with all necessary amenities. We stayed 7 nights and had most meals on the lanai overlooking the Pacific. Even saw whale spouts off in the distance. Gorgeous sunsets every night. Really great location for chilling out. Only drawback has nothing to do with the condo itself, but with the location in Princeville. It's a bit remote (~2 miles from highway), so you really need a car to go anywhere. Even Hanalei, which looks close on a map, is pretty much inaccessible by any means other than by car. Small (and for some negligible) inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. Would definitely stay here again.

We were very happy with our stay in Pali Ke Kua 102. It was beautiful, comfortable and in a great location. The view was spectacular. The unit was exactly as represented in the text and photographs. The only problem we encountered and one we were not aware of until the last day was the dishwasher being inoperative. We left a message for the maintenance supervisor so hopefully that will be repaired for the next visitor.

Beautiful location, great views, grounds were maintained beautifully. The unit was nicely decorated and updated. We were very comfortable there and used the amenities. We would return and definitely recommend it to others. Only problem was that the unit phone never worked while we were there and our cell phone coverage was spotty at best.

Three day stay
Caitlin D. from Omaha, NE recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in September, 2012
We were very pleased with our experience at Pali Ke Kua 102. Because our other accommodation in Puu Poa (just down the road) was not available for our entire stay, we had a three-day stay here. It is a ground floor unit, on the west end of the first building; the walk out is about as close to the cliff's edge as architecturally possible! Beautiful views. The unit itself is well-appointed and tastefully decorated. The kitchen and bathroom are both lovely and very modern. The Princeville location is perfect and very convenient. The pool and hot tub area is also quite nice, and I had it to myself every time I used it.

Expectations are everything. We expected more than we received. Had the "hype" been less, we might have been more satisfied. Kauai is just beautiful and the sunsets certainly were magnificent. The unit needs some updating as do the kitchen supplies. The timer on the AC was annoying. All in all, it comes down to location and this was certainly among the best.

roaches
A guest from Ele'ele, HI does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012
the rental Location view was beautifulThe living room area could have had an air conditioner as it was very hot. if you open all the screens it helps but the wind comes from the east so if you open the front door ... mosquitoes,, why no front door screen ???Noise from the upstairs guest was to say rude at 6 am especially when you would like to sleep. But the worst thing was roaches. found them alive in the kitchen and in the living room also dead ones. my son is allergic to roaches so at 3 am my wife had to rush him to the hospital as his face got swollen and he had a hard time breathing. when i reported through email after we left the unit the rental agent cathy, or sandy they put different names on the email, told me how come I didnt call the manager? i guess i didn't want roach spray in the unit while i was there to make matters worse (duh)have not received any offer of compensation, only why didnt I call the manager.if they fix the problems in the unit and have better service after the sale they could be a good company.

Property Manager Response:
Response from Ahh Aloha Kauai Vacation Rentals
Yes, different people do put their own names on their emails, and there are several of us in the office. If a guest has a problem and contacts us, we are more than happy to repond as quickly as possible. If a guest doesn't notify us that there is a problem, we can't do anything. And this is somewhat of a does not want roaches, but also does not want pest control. In a tropical climate, those are two fairly mutually exclusive outcomes. We take our guest comfort and contentment seriously and make every effort to insure a positive experience, including providing regular pest control treatments.

A guest from Redondo Beach, CA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 4 days in June, 2012
Although the unit has been updated, it is clear that it is "just a rental." The dishes must have been picked up at a Goodwill after someone else used them for 20 years. There wasn't even a corkscrew / bottle opener in the unit. The linens are old. The mgmt company said to bring beach towels which is absolutely ridiculous when traveling by air and limited space (there were beach towels there). Also ridiculous is to go buy your own toilet paper. It isn't cheap to stay, would be nice to have a few amenities. Location is fantastic at Hideaways beach.

The rental property was in a gorgeous setting overlooking the Hanalei Bay, which was just 10 minutes away. The lounging and relaxing possibilities were wonderful. The bedroom had an AC unit that could have been more efficient and the hot water for the shower did not last long enough. Other than that, the condo was perfect.

Very relaxing, peaceful, romantic. Began and ended our days in the chaise lounges on the lanai. Daily visits from the local birds including the Hawaiian geese. Couldn't imagine a nicer place to stay. And great value too. Woud have paid twice as much or more to stay at Marriott and gotten far less in terms of comfort, ocean accessibility and privacy. Top notch!

The place itself was awesome, clean, equipped, and had a great view. The only issue I had was that the internet service is a CABLE. There's no wifi. I think the owners have a circa-1995 idea of networking. If you have a wifi-only device (like an ipad or smartphone) this isn't the place for you.

Lacked the "Aloha Spirit" of Hawaii.
A guest from Discovery Bay, California does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 7 days in February, 2012
When we arrived we found the phone didn't work. Reported to Rick - Office Mgr who sent a tech out the next day. Was told the Tech should be able to arrive by 11am but after no one showed by 11am we left giving the tech permission to enter while we were out. When we arrived back at the condo we found the phone unplugged, no note about the problem and no info about when it would be fixed. I contacted Rick and he had no idea what they found but said he would get back to us. We never did hear from Rick again and the phone never did work during our stay. Another item is the property brochures say there are barbecues, what it doesn't say is the one on the property is by building 1 and you have to traverse a long steep winding path to get to the barbecue, which is charcoal. It is very hard to get your food down/up the steep path and forget about bringing a cocktail with you. There are other items of issue to consider, pool being remodeled, ice maker not hooked up in condo, no WiFi Internet access in condo (has WiFi but password was not provided). Don't get me wrong, there are nice things about the property/condo but the Wife and I left feeling the property/condo lacked the "Aloha Spirit" of Hawaii.

Kauai is a beautiful island and the view from the condo #102 is perfectly magnificent. Rick, at the manager's office, was most helpful during the first couple of days. A guest from Chisago City, MN recommends this property.
Stayed for 15 days in September, 2011
The view is an A+ and made the stay enjoyable. Some upgrades have been made to the property but it?s lacking in a few areas so we are only giving the unit a B grade, however it could be made an A with a small investment from the property owner. This is what?s missing: 1. Ice Maker is needed 2. Wireless should be installed, never rented a place without wireless. 3. Bathroom fan to pull out the hot steamy air 4. New couch, this has been written in the reviews for the past two years now. 5. Remove the AC timer so it can run all night. 6. The wired internet would not work without resetting it each time and the phone never worked. 7. New dishes, we would not even eat off some of them. The management team was great fixing the AC when it quit the first time and providing fans when it quit the second time. For the view this is a great place to stay but if any of the above mentions items would bother you look for another place until the owner makes a small investment.

Overall it was a wonderful stay. Great views and good location. The bdrm. air conditioner was a plus. Some small items to consider: CD player did not work; couch had Large stain; pillows need to be replaced (lumpy); bed a little lumpy also; small hand towel hanger in bath needs a screw tightened in the round towel hanger itself; not enough spoons, forks and bowels for a weeks stay (only enough for about 3 days for 2 people- had to hand wash them every 3 days).

The Pali Ke Kua condo #102 is a beautiful appointed and well-maintained vacation property. The views from the condo living room, dining room, and lanai are breathtaking, and the location at Princeville is outstanding. Only a minor concern is the condition of the sofa --- very much in need of a good cleaning! Other than that, the condo is comfortable, quiet, and a perfect alternative to a higher priced hotel room.

The condo was beautiful and exactly as it was described on tripadvisor. We could see surfers from the breakfast nook and while we cooked meals. The only complaint I have it that having better lighting in the bedroom and bath would have been great. Having dim lighting made it challenging to put on make up. Location also had a lot of mosquitoes which was an annoyance, but I think that is the common theme anywhere on Kauai as it's the wettest spot on the planet.

We enjoyed the property & location immensely, the problem we had was that the washer & dryer did not work--with no note to tell us it was broken til we used it. We received a phone call to tell us that there was to be a delivery to the condo on Saturday with a new washer & dryer. We were concerned since there is no safe in the condo, but that was not an issue. Instead, the washer & dryer did not get replaced, unbeknownst to the manager until I called her to tell her. Again no note to communicate that it wasn't replaced or fixed til we tried it with some towels. To say the least we rent condos so that we can utilize the kitchen & do laundry to keep our baggage to a minimum. We were unable to do laundry, & had to bring dirty laundry with us to Maui.

Property Manager Response:
Response from Ahh Aloha Kauai Vacation Rentals
New washer and dryer are now in place and working wonderfully! Unfortunately, being a relatively isolated island, many items are not readily available and have to be shipped, with all of the resulting unpredictability in delivery dates. So sorry that this guest had the inconvenience of being in residence when the washer and dryer required replacement :-(

The Pros: This unit is beautiful with wonderful furnishings and a breath taking view of Bali Hai. We loved the decor and how clean the unit was. We spent a great deal of time at the unit (no major excursions this trip) so it was wonderful to have such a nice place to stay. The Cons: Upon deciding on where to stay for this year?s trip to Kauai, it was important that we had a grill to BBQ and even went a step further to make sure the BBQ was gas. We decided it was worth paying more for our unit to have this in particular amenity. We did not want to heat up our condo with the oven every night nor did we want to spend our time in Hawaii indoors cooking! Our final question to the booking agent was regarding the BBQ situation and we were told Pali Kai Kua had gas BBQ?s so we were set with our decision. When we arrived in Kauai, we stopped in Kapa?a to pick up groceries for the week we were there. Everything we purchased centered around grilling each night?.$350 dollar later we were headed North to our condo. When we got to our unit, we found that not only was the BBQ charcoal ? not gas - but it was actually located at Hideaways beach which is a very difficult (and lengthy ? 10 to 15 mins down, more coming up - when you are thinking about grilling dinner each night) hike from the units. The people at the management office were kind but laughed at what we had been told.....unfortunately, with a newborn baby and extensive evening rain showers, making the journey to the one BBQ grill they had at the bottom of the cliffs was not an option. We ended up having to fix all of our meals in the oven which was extremely disappointing! Needless to say, we were very frustrated. It is important for others to know the truth about the situation. Hiking to the BBQ is not only an extreme inconvenience but would not be even possible for many guests. Hence, I figure, the little usage evidenced when looking at the BBQ. Imagine a plate full of hamburg
