Resort Amenities, Neighborly feel David C. from BALTIMORE, Maryland recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2012 Princeville is a great location to hang your hat on the North Shore. Short drives to a dozen great beaches and hikes. Many restaurant options if you choose or you can cook in your condo. The resort is very quiet, but there are always people around to meet if you want, or just put your feet up at the beach just a short walk from the pool. Be sure to check out Queens Bath in Princeville, which is a 5 min drive from the resort. And I keep saying resort, but its a condo village with a spotless pool and helpful concierge tucked into a neighborhood. Great spot for couples and families. |

Unit 1514 Matt M. from New York, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2012 A great location (a short, fun walk to a beautiful beach), nice views of the Na Pali mountains and Hanalai Bay, and a pool that is as big a draw as the beach - the complex itself is great. The grounds are well maintained and beautifully landscaped. The room itself has been recently renovated, albeit with a Home Depot aesthetic. It was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. Our daughter slept on the fold-out couch that is designed for small children only and would not accommodate an adult. The view from the balcony is sublime. My only "complaints" would be the relative lack of privacy on the balcony and the fact that the shortest route to the parking lot takes you through the backside of the maintenance area (although greeting the very friendly staff in the morning is actually a treat). Other than these minor issues, very highly recommended! |

false advertisement A guest from Gilbert, arizona does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 Excellent customer service. The view from the room was beautiful. The website for the resort provided info regarding closure of the restaurant, but stated there was a lounge and exercise room. These too were closed. Very disappointed. Pictures showed beautiful waterfalls at pool and during our visit they were never on. Next time we visit we will choose another resort |

Relaxing quiet stay Glen D. from Terrace, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in May, 2012 We enjoyed our stay at Hanalei Bay Resort. The resort was clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks for having boggie boards, beach chairs and a cooler. The suite was comfortable and clean.A couple of things to improve the unit would be to leave things like:- salt and pepper. I'm sure everyone who stays must buy them.- How about WIFI instead of the cable connection (Does not work for an ipad).- Leave some cleaning rags and a dust pan. |

Better communication on the amenities would help Vickie M. from Vancouver, BC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 23 days in December, 2011 The main pool was closed for 20 out of 23 days of our stay. I would have liked to have known that when booking. The resort is aging and shows it, but it is a fair price for what you get. The staff were very friendly, lots of Aloha spirit. |

Hanalai Bay Resort 1514 Princeville HI A guest from Roseville, California does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2011 I made arrangements in June to celebrate my husbands birthday and our anniversary by staying at HBR in Princeville since we had stayed there previously and really enjoyed the property and all the amenities that it had to offer. Unfortunately, we were NEVER informed about the fire that they had in July that took out the bar and the restaurant and when we got there the main large swimming pool was under major construction. The actual room that we rented was nice and the staff there is wonderful, however we were extremely dissappointed that we had to leave the property for a restaurant and a bar. We should have been informed about the fire and the upgrades to the swimming pool. There was plenty of time to inform us of this. |

Nice unit but......... Cynthia G. from Alameda, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2011 Upset with lack of security front door slats broken, screen distended, anyone could have reached thru front door to unlock. But owner took care of it immediately when reported and was fixed. We had to stay around and take an afternoon out of our vacation time to be there for repairs. Oh, and we weren't notified of the fire that had occured at the complex that wiped out the restaurant and lobby of the hotel. Because of safety issues in that area access to the condo was thru the garbage area and it was difficult to access the swimming pool. |

would stay again A guest from Hamilton, Ontario recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2011 Had a great stay, was in a great location to access the north and the upper eastern parts of the island. A long walk to the beach but they will drive you down- but a beautiful walk if you can do it. Very updated room. Worked out perfectly for us. |

Exactly like the picture! Sarah R. from Chicago, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2011 The place looked exactly like the picture. It was what I was expecting which is nice for online booking. The place was very clean and the pool was awesome. My only complaint would be that the resorts restaurant had burned down so there was no restaurant. That was a little disappointing. Overall we had an amazing time and would recommend this cozy condo! |

Hanalei Bay Resort #1514 Obie H. from Austin, Texas does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2011 I was disappointed that the resort restaurant was destryoed by fire a couple of weeks ago and no one informed us. The condo was fine but it's location in the complex (2 flights of stairs down with no elevator) will be a problem for older people. |

Wonderful except for Property Management. Mike S. from Kenvil, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 We loved the room and the facilities. The night before we can to Hanalei Bay Resort there was a fire to the restaurant. I understand things being off upsetting and disorganized due to this, but there was no need for rudeness. Instead of taking the walkway from the pool to our room, we had to walk all the way around through the maintenance area to get to our room. Again, no apologizes just rudeness from the front desk. The maintenance and bell boys were very nice, just the front desk. They had a big chip on their shoulders all week. Loved it besides them! Thank you. Property Manager Response: Response from Ahh Aloha Kauai Vacation Rentals Please note that the on-site property management (ie front desk) is COMPLETELY separate from, and not affiliated with, Ahh Aloha. We suggest sharing your dissatisfaction with the staff's attitude directly with the resort. |

Furniture Carol C. from Monte Rio, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2011 The room could use a couple of additional reading lamps. Only one for the entire room did not make for good reading at night. Perhaps another bedside table with lamp and a foor lamp at one end of the couch would add to the comfort of the room. With that said, it was a lovely unit and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. |

Pat C. from Sedona, AZ recommends this property.
Stayed for 9 days in January, 2011 The grounds were beautiful and kept in great shape. The unkit was clean but needs some dressers and more light. We had to live out of suitcases for 9 days because no drawers were available. It's almost impossible for two people to read at night with the inadequate lighting. Simple fixes, and the location and price are great. |

Great Place A guest from San Diego, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2010 The room was perfect. We took advantage of the full kitchen and patio. And we were pleasantly surprised to find a washer/dryer in the room! The Hanalei Resort had great ammenities too. There were cheap snorkel rentals, and the private beach (shared with The Regis) had calm waters with lots of fish. The resort was close to the restaurants in Hanalei - which were very good. The only bad thing about the room was the roosters that crowed from 3am to 10am every morning. But, roosters are all over Kauai. So I guess they can't be avoided. It was a really nice place to stay. I would definitely stay there again! |

Surprise charges and lacking amenities A guest from Florence, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2010 We were surprised by an "energy surcharge" of $5.00 per night that we were never told about. Granted that's not much, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time. This condo also lacked many of the kitchen items like a dish drainer, something to put leftovers in, placemats, etc, They were also very stingy on supplies such as only one bar of soap, 1 roll of toilet paper, 1/2 roll of paper towels. One of the chairs on the lanai was broken as well as the stand for the dining table. The staff was nice, they had a nice swimming pool (which should've been warmer)and the bed was comfortable. Property Manager Response: Response from Ahh Aloha Kauai Vacation Rentals Because this is a privately owned condo, and not a hotel, we provide a "starter set" of toiletries as described in our check-in instructions. It's not expected to last for a guest's entire stay, and check-in instructions also include directions to shopping locations so guests can replenish their supplies. Very sorry to hear about the broken furniture, if it had been reported to maintenance we could have dealt with it at once, as we will now do, as well as providing a dish drainer and some plastic storage dishes. The resort fee is somewhat irritating, it's not something we have control over. However, it is mentioned on the Hanalei Bay Resort page on our website, and our check-in instructions include the information as well. "Upon arrival, you will need to check in at the front desk. They will issue you a towel card and collect a $5/day resort fee." The studio is a very affordable way to spend time in a gorgeous oceanfront resort, it's unfortunately the guest didn't feel it met their expectations:-( |

Perfect Cuteness Jennifer H. from Reno, NV recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2010 The room was small and cozy and looked exactly like the picture. No unpleasant surprises. I liked the location of the rental, as it was kind of hidden in the back and didn't get a lot of foot traffic. Good size for a couple or single person. Breakfast on the patio was worth $89 alone. |
