This nicely furnished condo has an open livingroom and dining area. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. Two spacious bedrooms with lots of closet space. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom two twins. There a two full baths one in each bedroom. The living room has a queen size sofa sleeper and an electric "faux" fire place for those rare chilly nights. Pets are not permitted in this unit and smoking is allowed outside only. Oh, did I mention the sunrises are amazing! Nestled in the golden dunes of Mustang Island, Beachhead condos all have awesome gulf views. The complex amenities include a swimming pool, lounge facility for up to 60 people with a fully equipped kitchen, great for parties, weddings, family reunions, basketball and volleyball court, playground, private boardwalk to the beach just steps from any of the units. When we tried to open the curtains in the bedroom, the rod fell on us.We also had a little trouble with the dishwasher, but finally got it going.Also, the master bedroom was small and very dark. Not very pleased A guest from Plano, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2012 I would not recommend this unit to anyone. Our first impression of the unit was a smell of mothballs which persisted for the 3 days we were there. During our stay we had to dispose of two almost dead cockroaches and there was at least 1 more that we saw that was alive and got away.The description says "The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need", but the only 2 pots were large and were corroded and gross. We had to clean the knife and cutting board the first time we used it because they had obvious dirt on them. The refrigerator and toaster were rusted, and the carpets looked quite dirty around the edges (I didn't want to look too closely).We were able to connect to their WiFi internet, but it was spotty at best. Sometimes the network didn't even show up and other times the connection was so slow as to be unusable.The pool was OK, but it seemed kind of cloudy and during the middle of the day there was no shade to be had. A couple of tables/umbrellas would go a long way there.The staff didn't seem to care much either. When I called to see why I hadn't received my confirmation email with directions to the unit they asked me to wait another couple of days. 3 days later I called and had to leave a message which was never returned. Finally, 2 days before we were to travel there I called again and they finally figured out they had entered my email address wrong. No apologies though.Oh well, now I know. Also needs more toilet tissue depending on length of stay. Overall a little expensive compared to neighboring properties unless 7th day returns to being free. Great place though! Great location, but that's about it. A guest from Austin, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2012 The amenities don't really exist, except for the location. The tennis courts are broken down with no nets, so no tennis. The Wifi never did work (four iphones, one laptop, one ipad, none could ever connect). The place is a bit rundown and musty, and the carpet is pretty disgusting. Aside from that, the boardwalk to the beach is nice and the location is nice. It's just not anything like the pictures. If you're looking for mediocre to blah, this is the place. If you're looking for a nice place, this isn't it. Great location for young spring-breakers though. Roach Motel Heather L. from Austin, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2011 We have stayed at BeachHead for 4th of July weekend 2011. Last year, we stayed in 301, our friends in 307 and 406. Though each condo is decorated differently, but basically the same layout and price. All were comfortable, though 406 was a definite standout.This year, we were late in booking and had to choose unit 302. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. 302 is a dump. We were met by an overwhelming odor of insecticide and immediately saw the result, 4 dead cockroaches on the floor. During our stay we saw MANY live cockroaches, there is roach poop on the walls, surfaces and even cockroach nests behind the pictures. The first night, I had baby cockroaches climb on me while I was sleeping. I killed one on me and when I moved my pillow in the morning, had one scurry down the bed. We ended up moving all the beds away from the walls and taking off the bed skirts so that the points of contact with the ground were reduced. The kitchen cabinets were a hodgepodge of what looked to be reclaimed cabinets? The door to the garbage wouldn't even close (which was unfortunate, because there were live cockroaches in there!). The counter was falling/sinking, as evidence by the line of broken caulk. The whole side of the refrigerator is a mess of rusted spots (not shown in pictures). Some of the kitchen drawers do not work.The furnishings and decoration are dated, but fine. The carpet is dirty and stained.There was no cable to the TV, and with no antenna, meant there was no TV service the entire stay. The bug problem alone led us to call the management twice, but they were unable to help us find another unit, as all were rented. They were completely unsympathetic, telling my husband, 'You saw the pictures of the unit!' Well yes, but the roaches weren't in the pictures. Brenda, Cynthia & Jason were all very pleasant and accommodating. It would have been helpful to have printed info on the complex and community (use of phone in unit, beach parking fee, activities at community & senior center, location of grocery stores, hospital, churches, theatre, perhaps even recommended restaurants). We learned much from the cable station due to being iced in for 2 days, and explored on our own until we met other guests midway in our stay at a morning coffee. There was a major leak in the ceiling from the unit upstairs bathroom. I was very impressed with how quickly the maintenance guy came by to assess the situation,but we were distressed with the lack of follow-up from him, and waited for 30 minutes for him to come back before we gave up and just went to bed. The other problem with the last night was that someone was in the spot overhead, and they were LOUD. It sounded like a herd of elephants jumping up and down. Thankfully they settled down at 10, but it was very annoying. If we do stay at Beachhead again we will make sure that we get an upstairs unit to avoid that scenario again. The one other thing that would prevent us from coming back to Beachhead was the lack of towel service coupled with the fact that we paid an additional $50 cleaning fee. I was surprised that we were required to take out the trash, and load and run the dishwasher and pay $50 to clean the condo, and we never received clean towels.
