Stayed for 18 days in March, 2013 Ten years ago when, after two decades of visiting Maui, we decided to try Kauai, we consulted a travel concierge. He recommended Poipu Kapili. I have no idea how he knew about the place, but we followed his advice and have continued to do so every year since. From the very first moment we experienced Poipu Kapili we have felt perfectly satisfied. We have simply found no reason to go elsewhere. Beautifully landscaped and quiet, Poipu Kapili is right on the ocean at Turtle Cove. `We watch whales and the occasional dolphin from our bedroom window. Big green Hawaiian turtles abound in the surf across the road. Sunsets viewed from the property are among the most dramatic on the island. For the first couple of years we drove around in search of the most advantageous spot from which to watch the sun go down. It finally dawned on us that the view from our bedroom was the best of all. Excellent restaurants and shopping are a short stroll away at Kikui'ula as well as at Poipu Shopping Village. The National Tropical Botanical Gardens are a nice walk down the road. Poipu Kapili has our most enthusiastic recommendation for lovely, civilized living. There is no reason to go anywhere else. Stayed for 19 days in April, 2012 Okay, if you have ever read any of my other reviews, you know that the Kapili is my favorite place to stay. I do not, however, shy away from saying what I do not care for when it comes to a specific condo. That being said, Condo #1 is the Poipu Kapili at it's absolute finest. Everything, and I mean everything, is top notch. The furnishings, the decorations, granite counter-tops, everything is luxurious. Number one, in addition to the normal lanai facing the ocean, has a private lanai off the side of the unit. I will not go into any further details because if I rave about one thing I will have to rave about everything and I simply do not have the space provided to do that. Let me say that Condo #1 attains that which no other unit I have ever stayed in has (and I have stayed in more than I can readily remember) ... it is up to par with the staff.
