The main microwave, which also provides stove top light and stove top ventilation, is not working. The shower is falling apart. One of the windows didn't close properly. Much of this can be attributed to rapid salt water corrosion due to the location and seaspray, but nevertheless these items should be taken care of as they occur. Also check the water closet as flammable items are stored right touching the water heater.This is a good location near Poipu beach. Potential clients should be informed of the noise level due to the crashing waves - it takes some getting used to.Check-in check-out flexibility was much appreciated. The agent was very helpful aheqad of time. Please update the WiFi information - it is available across the entire property. NO ethernet connection is needed. The location is close to the main beaches in the area and we took a number of interesting walks visiting other properties in the area. The location allows for daily sightings of turtles, whales and often spinner dolphins plus a clear view of sunset each evening. Crashing waves and ocean views A guest from Gold Canyon, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2011 The plus for this unit is a tremendous location perched above a lava cliff. You look straight out to the ocean; to the left there is a beautiful cliff with trees, palms, and below it lava rocks where the waves wash up. To the right is the pool, another lava formation with Palm trees and you can watch and hear the waves crashing there as well. One negative is that directly beneath this unit is a large deck for the unit beneath, so if you look directly down you look at the deck & other people enjoying the view. The rest of the view overcame that for us. While the unit has been updated with granite counters in the kitchen, etc., because it is directly on the water there are the usual maintenance issues; the sliding glass doors are hard to open and close, the screen doors are also difficult to slide. There is no air conditioning; there are 3 very effective ceiling fans, and a floor fan in a closet. We enjoyed beautiful breezes the entire 8 days we were there, but had the three ceiling fans on whenever we were in the unit. This was August and the temps were 84-86 during the day. I suppose if it were over 90, it could be uncomfortable without air conditioning. All in all, we had a marvelous time and still marvel at watching the waves crash and spray, and also the sea turtles. There is only one loveseat and chair in the living room which is directly across from the kitchen counter. No inside eating area other than two bar stools at the counter where you are trying to prepare food. The coffee maker was completely rusted out and needed to be replaced long ago. At first glance the place is beautiful complete with marble floors and granite and is right on the ocean. For two or three is may be perfect but I do not recommend this place for four. There is a very small bathroom (shower only) with nearly no place to put your personal things. The cleaning fee is well overpriced for such a small place. We would not stay there again. Close as close to the ocean can be. A guest from New Haven, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2010 We stayed at Poipu Shores B202 for 3 nights during our honeymoon. The condo is amazing- chock full of style, amenities and an incredible view. At night we went to sleep listening to the crashing waves and in the morning we watched sea turtles feeding while we had breakfast. The staff seems on top of maintenance issues. They will enter (with advanced notice) to repair things while you are there if necessary. While we were guests there, some hoses to the hot water heater were replaced as a preventative measure due to failed hoses in another unit. The waves are beautiful but loud A guest from Sacramento, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2010 This location has a beautiful view of the waves crashing on the rocks. The downside is the sound somehow is exponentially increased inside the condo. We had to turn the TV up to full volume and still there were times we could not hear it because of the crashing waves. Because there is no air conditioning in this unit, you need to keep all the fans on, windows and sliders open to get air flow, but at night, when trying to sleep,at times it sounds like a hurricane is outside so that didn't make for a very restful nights sleep. We even went to the hardware store to get earplugs. After a day or two we kind of acclimated to the sound. The location is great for traveling to anywhere on the island. Two out of three sliding glass doors had locks that were broken, so we were concerned about security when we were gone. The shower head practically fell off when trying to adjust the location of the spray inside the shower so we would have to shut off the water, then re-screw on the shower head so water wasn't spraying all over the place from the top of the nozzle. The lockbox on the door to get the key is very old and difficult to use. We called the property manager when we discovered that cable channel 30 and 35 had no sound - all the other channels worked fine. We called and talked to the property manager to report it, he said he would call the cable company to report the problem and call us back with an ETA on when it would be fixed. After two hours of no return phone call, we called back and got voice mail so left a message. We never ever heard anything back on this problem so nothing was ever done. We would have been okay with a call back that said there was nothing the cable company could do but to not get a call back at all was poor customer service. We really wanted to watch channel 30 to see the Ryder cup golf match but didn't get to watch it because why bother without the sound? We had reserved Poipu Shores Unit B202 for 1 week with high expectations. We arrived and found our reserved unit already rented Anne P. from Matthews, NC recommends this property. The view is fantastic and the location good for travel to both the north side and west side of the island. The newly remodeled kitchen is great for cooks, but my only complaint is the cookware needs to be replaced as it is incredibly scratched up which makes cooking difficult. Not having air conditioining was a bit of a surprise but with all of the breezes coming off the water (it's only 35 feet away) it was't a big deal. Having the bedrooms separate is also good for two couples. We would definitley book there again (I may just bring my own cookware!)Aloha!
