Excellent introduction to paradise A guest from Tucson, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2013 Our first visit to Kauai was made easier and more enjoyable by the excellent facilties and the service of the staff at Poipu Kapili. We selected the site on the recommendation of our neighbors--frequent visitors to Kauai--and we are very happy that we followed their advice. Unit 36 offered a somewhat constrained view of the ocean from the second floor balcony, but it was enough to allow us to see whales rising and diving and to watch the changes in the light on the waves as the sun set in the evening. Kauai was altogether an unforgetable trip. We visited all parts of the island and concluded that the south shore was the very best place to be based. We hope to repeat and extend the experience soon! Property and staff great - Unit 36, not so much Linda S. from Everett, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 17 days in March, 2013 The property itself was fantasic but the unit, # 36, is rather outdated and in need of work. For the price, the only way I would stay in that unit again is if: (1)the carpet was replaced (full of stains) (2) the entire unit had a fresh coat of paint throughout and (3)the ceiling fan in the bedroom was replaced with one that you can adjust the speed. The one there is either on or it's off...Other things I would consider changing is: (1) purchasing a new set of pots and pans, silverware and red wine glasses. What is there is functional however, for the price per night, I would expect items that are not so old and cheap looking. As a property owner and manager of a vacation rental myself, I was disenchanted. Lastly, the pillows on the bed also seemed very old and lumpy, as if they had been washed many times and resused for years. As a result, I went to the store to purchase new bed pillows and left them there. Depending on the number of visitors, I would recommmed tossing out the bed pillows every couple of months and replacing them with new ones and, make sure the sheets are also replaced with ones that are crisp and clean, like the hotels. The next time I come, I would choose a different unit, one that has its own washer and dryer and is more updated. Property staff did an excellent job. Being a corner unit near the office, it is a spectacular location in the complex. The sounds of the waves while sitting on the lanai, in the living or in the kitchen is very soothing.
