Although it's advertised for honeymooners, my sister, daughter & I enjoyed our stay. Some of our issues: it was a little difficult to figure out the light switches; we had some trouble getting the heat set so that we were comfortable(maybe a digital thermostat would help); we had trouble with the satellite, but we're cable people (we did watch DVDs); and the burners around the range were was not as clean as I expected. There was also evidence of a wasp problem. However, none of the negatives were deal breakers. The positives.... it was clean, the view was wonderful, we felt safe, and it was quiet. The office staff was helpful. Follow their directions. One time, we used the GPS to get back to the cabin and it took us another way & we couldn't negotiate the turn up to the cabin - had to turn around. I have a mid size sedan and it wasn't easy. It's very dark at night, which can be good and bad. My daughter enjoyed the hot tub & jacuzzi (she's 7). The price was right (discounts are available). All in all, it was a good stay. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2013 American rentals was relentless in saying all their cabins had a breathtaking view which was true in our case but trying to look out a wall of windows that had dirt and grime all over them was disappointing!! The glare was horrible! I went to start a fire in the living room but fireplace did not work. Started to cook breakfast the following morning but had to wash dishes because egg residue was on cookware. I washed dishes with dish soap provided but wasn't enough for 1 day let alone our 5 day stay. There was a bbq grill ash pile on deck which my girlfriend stepped in and hot tub outside didn't have any chemicals in it. We spent a lot of money on cabin and the view was beautiful just thought for the money cabin would have been in better condition, even the cabin cleaners tip envelope looked like they found it under the seat of their car! The staff is really helpful, courteous & answered all my questions. The view is extraordinary and the cabin is really nice. Overall everything was great, there were only some very minor problems: the king size bed was extremely uncomfortable, it slanted towards the middle and no longer had any padding (you could feel every spring). We tried the other sleeping options but they were also just as old and uncomfortable. We spent 4 days barely sleeping, but the rest of the experience made up for it. And it was pretty obvious the carpet upstairs needed cleaning but these problems were very minor in the long run, this was a great place. You don't have to go into Pigeon Forge at all once you get to the cabin if you don't want too there is a town about 13 miles down the road that is nice & has a grocery. Smokey Mountain National Park is really & really pretty. We honestly didn't want to leave. If it didn't have the minor issuesI would definitely have given this place 5 stars. Heavy dirt and dust throughout the cabin prevented us from feeling at home. Spent the first half day cleaning to feel comfortable. Television remote control did not work. Outdated electronics and appliances. The condition of the spa was deteriorating. The railing around the porch was wobbling. This was a nice cabin at one point a long time ago. It was obvious that the owners have spent much money to keep the cabin updated and in good repair. The mountain views from the living area made up for the short comings of the cabin. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2012 We were very satisfied with our stay....everything was great ..the service was excellent and any issues that we had at the cabin was handled expertly and fast.....we would like to come back again and stay at the same location....the only issue that i was dissatified with was Thursday night 10/4...the cabin next door had a party or friends over or something and @ 1000 pm their loud noise and laughing and carrying on woke us up and it lasted for over an hour...if these people are the owners....they were very inconsiderate of others.....if they are there the next time we want to come to Pigeon Forge...we will stay somewhere else...we had to get up early Friday morning and catch a flight out for home....other than that we were very happy with our stay....BUT....that issue will keep us from staying agin if these people are the owners....And my name is spelled Donnie... The outside decking is in need of repair and maintenance due to nails that are protruding and boards that need replacing. The hot tub panelling is also in need of repair due to some rotting boards. Wasps nests were extremely evident and need to be removed. 2 of the 3 rocking chairs were in extremely poor condition. The upstairs balcony could have used some furniture & maintenance that would make it usable. I would suggest putting an outside table and chairs on the outside lower deck also. Kitchen area could do with some updated supplies including a cutting board. TV reception was very limited, CD player downstairs needs attention. The DVD player could not be used. We had some issues with hornets swarming our deck and they immediately did what they could to help take care of it. In addition, the bedding did not appear to be cleaned, so we exchanged sheets for new ones. The overall feel of the cabin was peaceful and quiet with an amazing view!! We were happy with our stay (and were often out sight seeing)but would have enjoyed it more if we weren't constantly killing hornets that got into the cabin and if the bedding was fresh and welcoming. The Cabin is excellently designed but poorly maintained. The deck area swarms with wasps and wood boring bees, yet nothing is being done to get rid of them. The unit is not built very well. All windows that can be opened, do not close all the way, because the windows sills are warped. There are no screens, so any and all kinds of bugs can enter. I have a bite on my right arm to prove it. Twice in the week we stayed I had a critter crawling on my arm in the middle of the night. 3 times we had to kill a wasp inside the cabin. All of the large windows were dirty, and I mean ugly dirty. Linens were good, no complaints there. Dishes were a mismatch. One of the cabinet doors is warped, the pool table is poorly maintained (dirty, pockets held together with plastic grocery bags, badly warped pool sticks), and the mini basketball game is missing a bolt to keep the legs together.We lost water twice while there. The first morning, there was no reason we should have lost water, but some switch had to be reset. Later in the week was understandable due to a bad storm that killed power to thousands, including us. Power came back on at 11:30pm, but no water. You can call the "Emergency number" which is available for when the office is closed, but only to be told their guy does not come in till 9. And THEN you won't see them till after 10. Kind of makes the emergency number not so much an emergency. Useless!This place "could" be fantastic, if some minor details could be taken care of.Staff was polite, but that was about it. At no time did anyone call to make sure everything was ok. Especially if they have trouble with water shutoffs, etc, one would think they would call after a day or two to ask "How your stay is going", or "do you need anything?" The cabin was dusty, wasp were an issue and it had no closet to hang your clothes. It did not have a dresser to store clothes. The 1st floor bathroom had things missing on the walls and really just needed a good scrub and new paint around. The large tub upstairs the same. The carpet also needed to be replaced (very discolored on the edges) The main disappointment was the bed itself. The bed sunk in the middle, the bedspread was obviously old, and only 1 pillow a piece. No luxury there. I actually went and bought pillows and sheets to be able to sleep soundly at night. They dove at us as we unloaded our luggage. We called the property manager and maintenance returned with a ccan of wasp spray. There seemed to be a war going on between the boring bees (which are at least as distructive as termites) and the wasps that were also fighting for territory. We killed several inside the cabin. It was an entomologists dream. The view was beautiful. But we could not enjoy the deck or hot tub do to the swaming hordes. Although maintenance did not seem to be to concerned about locating and removing the nests, I think the property owner should bee........... no pun intended. Also you need to have someone check the roof as every time the wind blew it sounded as if the roof was coming off. We were going to watch one of our favorite shows the night we got there and found that they didn't get hardly any of the local channels such as NBC. Another thing we didn't care for was the bed sheets/comforter were very scratchy and uncomfortable not to mention the pillow was almost non-existent. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2009 The view alone almost rates a "Yes" recommendation, but the facilities were just too lacking for an extended stay. The chalet is smaller than the photos would lead one to believe. More important, there was no table to eat on. There was a pool table but no dining table or chairs, only a couple of stools next to a small bar. The only place to sit in the living area was on a sofa. The living area is in desperate need of a couple of chairs and two sofa end tables with lamps. The only lighting in that area is from a ceiling fan WAY up high. The entire structure squeaks and pops a lot with the ever-present mild winds. While we were there for 5 days, 3 evenings the winds must have been gusting at least 40 mph and at times it sounded like the roof was lifting up and slamming back down. One night, I couldn't get to sleep before 4:30 a.m. when the winds died down and 3 days were spent with afternoon naps due to the noisy conditions at night. Our Stay with American Mountain Rentals Lindsay T. from Phenix City, AL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2008 The overall stay was a somewhat positive and negative experience. As an extremely clean person, the property could of been cleaned better. The top of the ceiling fans that you could see from the top of the stairs were filthy. This could be easily cleaned with a long dusting brush. There were several dead lady bugs on the window sills, that would be easy to vacuum up with a hose extenstion. Also, the pool table could use a good vacuuming it seemed in places to be covered with pet hair and/or human hair and specks of dirt and grime. The hot tub was extremely hot. It took hours for us to cool it down, by removing the cover. We were unable to enjoy it the first night for this reason. The fireplace in the upstairs bedroom was not working. My husband tried to get it to work as the instructions were there. However, after following the instructions it still would not operate properly. It would be a great idea to have a timer installed on the upstairs fireplace like there is one installed on the floor level. The electronic basketball game didn't operate properly and the balls were going flat. We thought that was a really neat activity as it was a feature advertised on your website as one of the cabin amenities. We were disappointed when we got there and it didn't even work. The icing on the cake, was the fact that the remote that operated the downstairs television, worked for both televisions in the cabin. What the person was watching downstairs had to be what the person was watching upstairs. This was extremely aggravating. Also, there was not a remote to turn the t.v. channels upstairs. Once upstairs for the evening, we could not turn the t.v. channel unless you went downstairs to do so. Besides these mentioned items we had a super time. Mainly because we didn't stay at the cabin to much, we mainly used it as a place to sleep. Due to this fact, I would of been otherwise disappointed in the cabin lack of features working properly. I know that there isn't much you can do about the ladybugs, but given the number of ladbugs on the floor and in the bathtub, you could tell no one had been there to clean them up in a couple of days. Also, the comforter on the bed was dingy and smelled, so I had to wash that myself. The overall set up of the cabin wasn't as good as the Love Shack either, the TV and stereo make the place seem cluttered. Overall though, we did have a good time, I guess our expectations were just very high from last year. I do understand that the ladybug infestation is probably very difficult to deal with. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2008 We were pleased with how the furniture matched the pictures we saw online, but the decor was a lot cheesier than they made out to be, with creepy bride and groom clothes on the wall. Also, considering the type of activities likely to go on in a honeymoon cabin, having poems on the wall about how your parents feel about you getting married is just gross. More concrete observations: The lack of curtain over the bedroom window was a problem, as there was a family with young boys in the cabin next door, and we were startled several times to find them outside our window playing. Plus, the sun comes in that window right on your eyes at dawn. There was no place to put our suitcase. A couple of hotel-style suitcase stands would be wonderful, or eve take out that tacky table in the corner with dusty wedding memorabilia and put in a low table that can be used to hold suitcases. Outside at the hot tub, the railing only partially shielded us from the view of the cabin next door, so we had to block their view of us in the tub with the cover. In spite of those inconveniences, we managed to relax and have fun. We were glad the layout matched the pictures because that is why we chose that cabin. The cabin itself looked beautiful in both the interior and exterior, as well the furniture and appliances were great to take advantage of; it was exquisite! HOWEVER, the cabin was very creepy at night with minimal lighting, especially if coming home late at night. The cabin also was very eerie at night, in reference to noises! EVERY NIGHT it sounded as if there was a leak in the house, we even had a minor one in the utility room, as well as a tree banging the drain on the side of the house, and even creeks in the steps at night sounded like someone was walking up the stairs. Having been in a cabin before I know this isn't unusual, so it made it very awkward at night! In spite of all of this, the cabin was great and my wife and I enjoyed our time there and would use AMR again; just with another cabin!! The house was well located and very clean. The problems were no screens on the windows meaning we couldn't get any natural air without also letting in bugs, and our hot tub went on the fritz.
