Nice Place but misleading internet access TommyJames from Kirkland, Washington, Stayed for 0 days in October, 2012 Seabrook is not a bag getaway however the grossly overstate when there is internet access in each house and this can be an issue. In our case Hodgepodge Lodge had a whopping 256k connection that would have been state of the art in 1992, but carving email out of wood would have been faster. It was very misleading and extremely annoying for all of us. Furthermore there is very poor cellular connection in the area. No at&T; at all, and very low data rates for both Sprint and Verizon MiFi cards and spotty for both. We were a large group of rather tech-dependent guests and found the experience extremely frustrating. Some business owners and other professionals actually have a need to remain in touch and it's not an option to be out of touch. I don't get the mentality of developers and vacation home owners who don't seem to get it. Going old-school simply isn't an option. The house is otherwise very functional for a large group. One simple change is to change the exterior beach rinse off shower to a hand-held unit, and I'd do the same with all of the showers which would make it far more functional. Other homes rented by our group made the change and were a nice convenience. If you're looking for a view of anything other than other homes, this is not the one. It literally looks at houses in every direction except the vacant lot that's about to be filled. I think for the price there are other better choices at Seabrook with nicer interiors. As for the management of Seabrook, they now require that dogs wear blue ribbons on their collars. The ribbons don't remain attached and the ribbons makes the place feel less friendly. Seriously, all that nonsense over pet fees??? The place still struggles to be viable as a true vacation destination and parking is very limited so that too is a bit annoying. Home exteriors are starting to show wear and the place has lost something along the way. It's definitely not Cannon Beach. I don't know how many times the restaurant has changed hands but once again, it looked like something different. We found it odd that so many homes were supposedly booked up (none available for other friends) when there were so few people around. Overall, we had a good time, but we were all slightly disappointed by the experience this time. You pay more for places like Cannon Beach, but it's such a better experience all the way around. |

Loved it! DustinWS from Snohomish, Washington, Stayed for 0 days in August, 2012 We had a fantastic time in the Hodgepodge Lodge at Seabrook. The quality and cleanliness of the home, and the amenities and friendliness of the people were amazing! It's a great value, and we will definitely be back. One word of caution though...the prices at the little grocery store are exhorbitant, almost unbelievably so. Best to bring all the food you need from home, as the nearest alternative is 30 min. away. |
