Wonderful beach rental on the sand, upper, 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit, sleeps 6. Common area with firepit and bbq, patio area, putting green. Recently remodeled.

This upper level unit has jut been remodeled inside and painted on the outside! Beautiful new counters and cabinets, new bathrooms, new tile and carpet in bedrooms! Views are amazing. Sit in your living room as you gaze out to the ocean! There is no road between this vacation rental and the ocean! The sand is just a few steps out your front door! There is a common area shared with the other 4 units in the complex, which includes a fire pit, lounge/patio furniture, putting green, and bbq area.

Besides the amenities of the home, you'll fall in love with the laid back beach town of Oceanside. The vast ocean views and sand, year-round beautiful climate and adorable downtown attractions make it the perfect setting for a beach getaway. The crashing waves were so loud we had to close the windows to talk on the phone! Property management was very responsive but I never felt like our every move was monitored.Every thing was clean & kitchen was well-stocked with all utensils, dishes & pans. There are 2-3 flights of stairs just to get to your unit, so beware if impaired mobility. Location just off I-5 so very easy to get around. Unit 819 A is on the upper level, flanked by 2 buildings, but the ocean view & proximity is still very good. There is no street with traffic between you and the ocean like many Oceanside rentals. OceanFront not a BeachFront Brandon I. from Chandler, AZ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2012 I have stayed in Carlsbad the last few years and decided to give Oceanside a try. I ignored the one review that said that this property was really an oceanfront, but they were right. There is a good 15 - 20 ft drop to get directly down to the water from the house, and even then, the tide is all the way up against the rocks, so there is effectivly no beach. You need to walk 2 blocks down the road to get to a real beach. The walls in the condo are paper thin as well. We had a soccer team of atleast 10 girls below us that would slam the front door until midnight and keep us up. On the flip side, the maintenance crew was there almost every other day cleaning out the common area and keeping the outside looking nice. Feel free to stay knowing the truth about the property, but as for me I will be making my way back to Carlsbad to some of the true beachfront properties. My husband and I especially enjoyed having our morning coffee in the living room watching the waves. We were there to welcome our son home from Afghanistan and being able to stay 'home' BBQ and just be together as a family the day of his return was very relaxing and wonderful. There are a lot of stairs to get to this unit - 15 down, then 15 up. I have a bad hip so the stairs were an issue for me but the view was worth the discomfort. Our last night there, the neighbors in the next building sang karaoke until 3:30 in the morning. I slept through it but my husband wasn't so lucky. We would definitely stay here again. The unit is on the small side but was clean and comfortable. One odd notice was on the refrigerator and it threatened a rather large fine for adjusting the temperature control. There are a lot of stairs from the street to the unit which was not a problem for my family but anyone who has trouble negiotiating stairs might consider a different location. The view of the ocean from the living/dining room windows was spectacular. Even though the evenings were cold, my son was a fixture in the spa, and the rest of the family spent some time sitting around the gas fueled fire pit conversing with the sound of the ocean waves breaking in the background. It was situated on the beach, accessed through a gate on the property. This led you to a pathway. The actual beach was there, but large boulders/rocks had been placed on part of the beach (between us and the beach) for erosion control. In this sense, the beach was not right there, but it was not hard for us to get down to it. If you walked a black (or less) North, you could get to the beach a little bit easier. Here, though, is where a road ended (called the Strand), this was between the houses and the beach. We enjoyed the hot tub, the views, and the location. It was much nicer to stay here, where everyone had their own space, than in a much smaller hotel room. The cost was similar, too. We would stay again. I had my family there and I was disappointed in not being able to use the jacuzzi a couple of nights due to the short termers taking over the common area. The maintenance crew was great!! Juan was on it and had his crew out there first thing cleaning up every morning we stayed 8 days and every morning they had to clean up, sometimes a mess and clean the jacuzzi from the night before and they did a great job.
