The Avista was a great location. Close to Rt 17 and Main St. is within walking distance. The room itself was clean but the furnishings and look were a tad dated. Would have liked newer televisions. Room 131 however leaves a lot to desire with respect to view and participation. You're facing parking lot, can't see pool, ocean OR pool (where DJ's & Bands play for SOS). Avista 131 - North Beach Realty A guest from Chesapeake, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2011 The washer/dryer unit is inoperable in this unit. It is unable to be repaired. We chose this property, partly because of the in-room washer and dryer only to find when we arrived it did not work. It was hectic having two children and being on vacation and using a laundry facility on another floor. Also, if we had rented through the resort we would have had housekeeping services, this would have been more convenient. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2010 Washer/Dryer broke water everywhere...we called and was told it happened to the people who stayed there before us and there should be a drain in the floor. Obviously the washer was not repaired and there was no drain. My wife ended up sweeping the water into a sand bucket (several bucket fulls). Other than that the unit was fine the elevators were very slow so we were thankful we were on the 1st floor so we just took the steps. The pools were nice, but very small and crowded, however we came for the ocean not the pools. The parking garage was very tight and finding a space was not an easy task.
