Overall Property Description:
Charming apartments in a characteristic farmhouse, restored with respect for the original structure and divided into 4 apartments, one of which is lived in by the property owners. The farmhouse dates back to 1001, when it was built as a guest house for the abbey of Isola. Over the centuries it became a convent with hospice along the via Francigena, and recently it has been transformed by the current owner into a welcoming country house with a lovely interior courtyard. Located at the foot of Mount Maggio, at the center of a small farm that produces grapes and olive oil, it’s in a tranquil spot among woods, vineyards and olive groves. The property enjoys a view of the surrounding countryside and offers a nice, shaded lawn with swimming pool. A classic, beautiful row of cypress trees runs along the road to the property. The apartments are furnished simply but comprehensively, and each one offers a private, well-equipped outdoor space and satellite TV. Telephone available at the property owners' who are kind, hospitable people who speak French, English, and Spanish and manage the farm themselves.
Access to the property is via an unpaved but well-maintained road.
Distances: Monteriggioni castle with food shop, restaurants and bars 3,5 km away, Castellina Scalo with all kinds of shops 4,5 km, Colle di Val d’Elsa with tennis, and golf (6 holes) 13 km away, Siena 14 km, San Gimignano approx. 30 km away, Radda in Chianti 32 km, Florence (airport) 65 km, Pisa (airport) 155 km, Rome (airport) 280 km away.
At guests’ disposal: shared and well-equipped garden, lawn with pool (10 x 5 m – maximum depth 2 m – open from 01/05 to 30/09), barbecue, shared old-fashioned woodburning oven.
Extra services to be paid on the spot and available upon request: Extra single bed in Francigena 3 (€ 50,- / week). Baby bed (free of charge). Maid service (€ 15,- / hour) available upon request.
