Stayed for 2 days in June, 2013 We stayed at Kastaways with a group of 11 people for the weekend while we attended a wedding. The entire property was beautiful and very cute. It's the perfect mini-vacation, 10 minutes from Lake Michigan and an hour and 1/2 from Chicago. The cabin was clean, a good layout, and the perfect size for our group. Mixed review A guest from Wilmette, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2012 While Kastaways comfortably housed the nine people in our family, we had some disappointments. The full cans of garbage sat in the front of the house until I asked for them to be removed; the view was of another houses's rear and had a pile of dead bushes; there were cigarette ashes in a side table. It is located quite a distance from the Lake Michigan beach. On the other hand, it was fairly quiet. Sitting on the upper deck was peaceful. The first floor was wonderfully spacious. THe bathrooms were very clean, the kitchen well equipped and the folks in the office extremely responsive to any challenges we had. Beachwalk vacation. A guest from Calley Springs, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 The propertry was in great need of a general clean up. Many area's were overgrown and poison ivy was not a treat. They need to spend some money!
