Resort: Massarosa is situated at the foot of the Apuanian Alps, only a few kilometres away from the Lago Massaciuccoli, which is a nature reserve and attracts many different types of bird. The Giacomo Puccini villa is located on the bank nearest to the sea and hosts open-air opera festivals. Viareggio is also just as easy to reach with its beautiful sandy beaches and nightlife. The "Sagra della Ranocchiocciola" is a well-known festival. Resort with 20'000 inhabitants in the north-western part of the region 8 km from the sea, on a slope, in a convenient position, 10 km east from Viareggio, 18 km west from Lucca.
