A large group of 12 decided to go to the beach for a surprise birthday weekend. The house was more than accommodating. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2012 cloth placemats on table were dirty as were some of the dishes, could not find cord for electric grill, outside sink was full of mouse droppings (which were cleaned by staff very quickly upon request), day bed in master makes so much noise when you move that that person had to sleep on the couch, bed in room by garage didn't even have boxspring and bunkbed had foton type mattress such that you could feel the metal rungs through it. The staff was very responsive and helpful, we enjoyed the location and generally how the home was set up. Two of the single beds are in the master suite with the king bed which is not at all convenient for privacy and the bunk room downstairs is way too small to sleep 7 people (enough beds but not enough space). House perfect for our size family with a great space for teenagers to hang out. Overall clean, but found chewed gum on the table and a couple other things that made you feel that cleaning was a little less than what you would expect. Towels were left in washer and dryer from the last renters. I folded and dried them so we could wash ours as instructed. Hot tub was heaven listening to the ocean and watching the stars. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 We have had great experiences with rentals in the past at this higher price range. We expected the house to be larger. The room with the pool table and couch is the garage, not a place to hang out. The set up is odd with the dining table so far from the kitchen. But the worst part was that we usually spend time cooking together and making group meals. The house is poorly equipped for cooking. No cookie sheets, no muffin tins. The skillet cord was missing. The pots and pans are limited. The dishes are all pastic and can not be put in the microwave. The oven was gas and if you used the oven and the burners at the same time neither worked well. It took 28 minutes to boil water for 3 minute pasta. The fridge has lots of magnets for pizza and take out and if you can afford to eat out the entire week than this house is for you. But cooking can be an exercise in frustration. We will be looking for another house next year. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 The home was good for our extended family of 14 (adults and kids under 8). We had lots of room and everything was clean. Here are things I would note for future guests: The living/entertaining area is upstairs with bedrooms downstairs - be prepared to go up and down a lot. The location is on a busy road with traffic in several directions - watch young ones at all times. We noted with the rental agency that there are a few things that need to be updated: old plastic plates/bowls for use which are burned/bubbled from microwave which they probably shouldn't be in. Towels throughout could use replacing. Hopefully they have fixed the leaking freezer (water down into the refrigerator), the leaking washer, and the leaking toilet. Even though there is no ocean view from this property but still it is surounded by trees and very quite. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2012 I was a little apprehensive about the stay, the forms I had to sign had put me off the vacation rental but as time was running out I decided to sign and continue with my booking. I was very excited to explore the house on arrival and the friends I had invited were very impressed. The general consensus was that the place looked better than in the photos. Everyone was happy with their rooms, a second shower downstairs would have been useful.We really enjoyed the accommodation although, almost as expected from the forms I had to sign, the hot tub did break down, but we were happy we got to use it on our first day.The gas cylinder for the grill looked frighteningly unsafe.I would return to this rental again, it is in a great location. There was plenty of room for three couples to be comfortable and sleep in a nice bed. The house is cozy and relaxing, as well as, a great house for entertaining. The kitchen is well stocked for staying in and cooking meals. The hot tub was a bonus. The house would be good for kids, too, we didn't use the fourth bedroom with the bunk beds. It's not right on the beach, but just a short walk to it. We would all stay there again, we were quite pleased. We had a large group for our girls weekend and there was plenty of space! I give it a tiny bit lower rating because most of the beds were extremely uncomfortable and there is no internet access. The house is just a small walk from the beach and close enough for a good walk to the main strip in town. We would most likely stay again (the only hesitation is the beds)! Stayed for 3 days in November, 2011 We were very disapointed that there was no heat in two rooms and only one space heater worked. Also one of the hallway heaters did not work. This heater was next to the other non working heaters. We called and hoped that a space heater could be borrowed for the first night, but we were told that it was not possible. This happened during a cold November night.Previous years at this location have been fine but not this year. For the price of this rental, I would expect better service. The kitchen sink faucet needs to be fixed; it runs unless you pull up the handle after use. The bunkbed futon mattresses are probably fine for kids, but not comfortable for adults. We spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to watch a movie (we think the cords were set up for video games). Also, one of the yellow cords for the TV/DVD/Stereo system is broken. But, I've never understood houses where they sleep more than they have dishes for, or have dining spots for. We had to bring extra plates, chairs, and a folding table so we could eat together.Also, the big plates didn't fit in the dishwasher, the deck had just been sealed and never really dried while we were there to use the deck. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2011 Things that were good: proximity to beach is great, large master bed/ba, hot tub, nice furnishings, plenty of bath towels, kids enjoyed the pool table in the garage. Things that were not so good: kitchen is small for a crowd, bunkroom is small (all beds no walkways), you must bring piratically everything including shampoo and Kleenex (which really irked me since we were paying $400 a night), no TV in Master or DVD for kid TV downstairs. This place isn't bad, just not amazing. We will be looking for a different house next year. Open floor plan and large dining table was condusive to gather our group together for family meals and games. One block from the beach and close to biking trails at Nehalem Bay State Park. Amenities inside the home were fine for our stay - we wished for some tupperware and learned that we should have brought some baggies, foil and etc for storing leftovers. We also wished for real wine glasses - but other than that the place was perfectly stocked and if we needed something Betty or Jenni were right over with the missing items.As my girls said "We had an awesome time." Tuscany was the perfect answer for us. The property is in a prime location very close to beach (walked barefoot there) and has a great hot tub and living room set up. The only con on this house is that it claims to sleep 15, 7 of which would have to sleep in one room with two bunk beds. We had a group of 11 so the house was the perfect size for us! Also the pool table in the garage with TV made a perfect get away for the guys to drink beer and watch football! :) Would definitely rent this location again. However, the home we stayed in (Tuscany) is a little worn down now. It is in need of some maintenance. Additionally,- There are not enough bathrooms for the number of people it sleeps- Neither TV functioned correctly- Kitchen is small and not adequately stocked- The top bunk bed mattresses are very thin and uncomfortable- The house is in need of general maintenance (pool table lights burnt out, no chalk for cues, fridge didn't work properly, etc)I would highly recommend Manzanita, but stay in Chinook House, if available. Tuscany Family Reunion A guest from Issaquah, WA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2010 The highlight of staying at Tuscany is the well stocked kitchen. However, there are many issues with the house and I wouldn't recommend it or stay there again. It is located on a very busy street, parking is limited and to get to the beach you not only have to navigate the busy street it is on, but cross another very busy road. Since we had small children and dogs in our party this was a dangerous undertaking each time. Some of the other problems include the BBQ which is in very poor shape for a house of this cost and needs to be replaced, neither TV worked, no insulation so every noise is heard throughout the house, interior doors rattle and the mattresses in the bunkbed room are in very poor shape. Phenomenal birthday weekend! Shannon B. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2009 We had full capacity here at the Tuscany - 14 adults. We cooked then entire weekend and the kitchen was well stocked with appliances, utencils and other dinnerware. The larger bedrooms were very comfortable and the deck was great. Just a short walk to the beach too. We even had sunshine in December!!! The only downside of this stay was that the bunkbeds were not comfortable for my guests. I would recommend this get upgraded by the owners or if renting, not counting this in the sleeping arrangements. All in all, a wonderful weekend! House is even more spacious than pictures show. One warning is that it is a tight fit if you plan on having a full 15 people stay there. One room is supposed to fit 8 people on 4 double mattress bunk beds. Way too tight if the guests are adults - or have someone who snores. I would categorize this house more as a 10 person house.Other than that - there is even a rinse table and outdoor shower on the side of the house for surfers, wetsuits and boards. Great! Stayed for 9 days in August, 2009 Although new cookware was purchased there are still pans in the house that are not safe - nonstick cookware with the surface flaking off. There was a carpet nail exposed between kitchen and living room floor. Especially dangerous to small children. There was a dead bug under the mattress pad in the bedroom next to the laundry room. It looked like it could have been a carpet beetle. Are the mattress pads washed every time? This was a little disgusting. The house was much cleaner than last visit. Previous visit the carpets were dirty and the house was not up to standards expected. We were much happier this time although the stairs looked like they needed to be steam cleaned. Please have home owners write up clear instructions on using DVD player and hot tub. While there are manuals in the TV cabinet the remote is not the original also simple instructs "press X, then press X" would be very helpful. Same for hot tub, not all the jets were turned on and we did not know how to open them. More dish towels in the kitchen please. There are only a couple where one needs around a dozen. Thank you. A proper 40th B-day celebration! Deanna D. from Olympia, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2009 Tuscuny is a wonderful house to lounge and play with family and friends. The oversize tile table could actually fit all of the people AND the massive feasts we cooked up. It also turned out to be the perfect size for the domino game chicken foot! Due to some extra family members tagging along we ended up housing the maximum 15 one night and everyone had a cozy place to sleep. Close enough to the beach that carrying the bocce and croquet down wasn't tedious and if you had to run back to the house for something it wasn't too far. Though admittedly we did get the teenagers to run for us most of the time! So many fond memories that I can't believe I was only there for 5 days! Thanks Tuscany! McLain Family Weekend at Tuscany House in Manzanita Nancy M. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2009 This house was ideal for our family of 8 adults, one six-year-old and two non-mobile babies. The three bedrooms downstairs were perfect for our kids/grandkids and the master suite on the main level was lovely plus private -no noise at night - but still nice for napping with grandbabies in the afternoon! We also appreciated being able to tell our son and daughter-in-law that they could bring their dog. The moms in our group also loved the large bathtub in the downstairs bedroom area. Everything was in excellent working order and we absolutely loved the comfy living room furniture and extra-large dining table. We had no complaints about the house and look forward to returning. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2009 The location was wonderful, as two couples brought their dogs and loved running them on the beach. Everyone loved the hot tub and it was well used. The large dining table was great for board games plus eating. Be sure and eat at Left Coast Siesta in Manzantia...try their tequila lime chicken burrito!! Check out all the games etc under the TV...we didnt see them till too late.The management people were very helpful in lining us up with the perfect home for our needs. Had a blast playing pool and hanging out in the hot tub. Kitchen had all the amenities. Would have liked napkins and paper towels to be included. Instructions for getting to the home were easy to follow. On a sad note, we broke one of the dog dishes. Sorry. All in all we had a great time.
