A three story Arts and Crafts style home built on the waters edge. A curved concrete drive takes you to the entry door of this lovely home. The spacious living area which connects to the large and elegant kitchen as well as the dining area is the focal point of the main entry level. The kitchen has granite counter tops, a gas cook top, double ovens, wine refrigerator and an extra large fridge. The dining table can accommodate ten, plus four bar stools at the kitchen counter. The living room features a large leather sofa, club chairs, a gas log fireplace, television with DVD/VCR and a stereo. Entry to the covered deck overlooking the lake cove is accessed from the great room. There is one bedroom on the main level with a queen bed which shares access to the full bath with shower, from the common hall. There is also a large laundry room on this level.
The upper level has the master retreat complete with a king bed, a large private bath which has a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. This suite has private access to a large covered porch which overlooks the lake. The second bedroom is a spacious guest retreat, complete with two double beds and games galore. This is a perfect room for the teens or single members of your group. A full bath with a shower is located off this guest room.

Two of the three master suites are on the lower level. This first has a king bed and features a full wet bar, a large private bath with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. This suite also has a private covered porch which overlooks the lake. The second master suite features a queen bed with a private full bath. This suite has a private entry to the stone terrace where the hot tub is located. A stepping path from the hot tub terrace, leads to the game room, which has a separate outside entrance and has a pingpong table and foosball table. There is also a full laundry with washer and dryer located on this lower level.

The waterfront provides for a small sandy beach which is great for kids to ease into the water. A long boardwalk winds around the shore and is connected on the far end to another lakeside rental, "Laurel Point". Book both for large family gatherings on the lake! Use of a pontoon boat is included in the rental of A LAKE ESCAPE. Boating restrictions and regulations apply and use is subject to a short boating safety and operation course conducted at the home by our BOAT MASTER. Be sure and read the Boat Policies.

Manager's comments: This is one of the nicest family homes we offer. The layout is terrific for several families as private areas are available on all three floors; even the covered porches are private. The furnishings and d├ęcor are pretty and the kitchen is one of our favorites. The owner has supplied a lot of amenities; hot tub, game tables and boat. There are steps to the waterfront, but it is gradual and once you get there, the beach area and amenities are so comfortable, you can spend the whole day just lounging!

Relaxing Family Vacation
Evelyn W. from Bethel Park, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012
We usually vacation at the beach but wanted to try something different this year with our children, their spouses and our grandchildren. Lake Lure was a nice change of pace; perfectly serene. A Lake Escape provided everything we needed for the opportunity to reconnect as a family; beautiful open kitchen / family room and a relaxing dock area with a fire pit. The house was large enough that we still had our private rooms to retreat to if needed. The use of the pontoon boat was icing on the cake, we enjoyed exploring the lake and swimming with the ducks. The property management company was attentive to our needs and made us feel very welcome. I would recommend Lake Lure for any family who is looking for a place to slow down and enjoy each others company. There is plenty to do in the area if you would like: rock climbing, ziplining, pool, golf, mini golf, tennis, water skiing and boating. Asheville is only 45 min. away. We spent a day touring Biltmore and checking out the local scene.

Wonderful home except for the air conditioning system
Sherry W. from Winona Lakes, IN recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012
This was a lovely home in a very nice location. The numerous steps were a problem for grandma. The biggest problem we experienced was the cooling system. The lower level was <65 degrees when the upper two levels were 75 degrees. The management was aware of the problem but could not change it. There were 2 bedrooms on the lower level.

TERRIFIC LAKE LURE VACATION
A guest from Boca Raton, FL recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012
First, I would like to make mention that Bill from the Management company was the perfect gentlemen and wanted to make sure that all was in order. He was very helpful with answering our questions, providing suggestions, directions etc., and made sure that the boat was just right. It made for a wonderful time for our entire family. The home had everything we needed and more for a fun and relaxing vacation. We are excited about returning next year. Thanks once again!!!!!!

Great Week!
Jeff L. from Chattanooga, TN recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012
Our extended family had a wonderful week at A Lake Escape! The house was beautiful and comfortable. We used the kitchen extensively and it was well stocked. The cousins were all able to sleep in the same bedroom which they really enjoyed! Of course, the lake was their most favorite with the dock, rope swing, canoe and pontoon boat. We saw lots of wildlife in the surrounding woods and water. Some negatives: a broken porch ceiling fan ~ which was reported, but not repaired; the extra ice maker was also broken; the downstairs air was very cold and not adjustable. The city fees for personal watercraft are very high ~ check that out before you haul your own boats/canoes/kayaks!!! We would definitely recommend this property!

Linda B. from Cordele, GA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012
I brought all my children & grandchildren here for their spring break. Everyone had a wonderful time. The house was great, and despite previous comments about kitchen supplies, I found that pots, pans and utensils were adequately supplied. One note: it's a steep decline to the lake--so be in "shape" or you'll "huff & puff" like I did!

Stayed for 7 days in September, 2011
We had a wonderful week of family time! The home is beautiful, and we really enjoyed touring the lake on the pontoon boat. The main suggestion I would have to make a stay here more enjoyable would be to better equip the kitchen. The pots and pans desperately need to be replaced -- and with much higher quality products. A cookie sheet and several good coffee mugs would be nice additions, too. With these improvements, we would love to plan another vacation stay at this beautiful lakefront home!

A guest from Cary, NC recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011
Enjoyed the small beach, lake, and pontoon boat! Rumbling Bald amenities were great! Pizza from Legends excellent! Dishwasher and coffee maker not working upon arrival - both replaced within 72 hours, after phone call to office - however, problem known at check-in - not mentioned. Dishes, glassware, utensils, pans were dirty from previous guests - greasy with bits of stuck food. Kitchen lacked basic items: skillet, cookie sheet, etc. Broom supplied, but no dust pan. Mold and mildew in showers and on shower curtains. Hardwood floors needed mopping - bare feet and socks were black with dirt. Game room/6th bedroom functioned as neither. Musty, humid, poorly lit. No chairs, chests, or TV. Steps to this room covered in 4 inches of mud. Mentioned to office and were given a hoe to scrap it off ourselves. Trashcan lids did not fit properly and were visited by raccoons on a nightly basis. Bedrooms on lower level were consistently 63 degrees with no AC running. Heat did not work so they remained cold.

Property Manager Response:
Response from Lake Country Vacation Rentals
The house is a 6 bedroom however the owner moved a bed upstairs to create a game room by the waterfront. If our guests need it as a 6th bedroom we gladly move the bed back and set it up as a bedroom. The driveway is steep and only accommodates 3 cars as stated in our description of the property. There is overflow parking in the marina parking lot, just downhill from this home. We can usually make any repairs to appliances or TV's as long as we are notified that it is needed. It would have been helpful had you alerted us during your stay.

We liked the house, porches, boat and lake. Liked amenities - pool, putt-putt, golf. We were disappointed not to be able to pull things with the boat. Wish we knew more about communications problems. Not six bedrooms as advertised. Wine refrigerator, ice maker, did not work. Broken toilet in game room caused smell in downstairs bedrooms. Missing a chair. Overall we enjoyed it but want to know the truth about the house and base our choice on that.

House set up was perfect for the 10 of us. Beautiful house and wonderful quiet cove seclusion. Master beds were super comfortable. Kids loved the rope swing into the lake, and we all loved the pontoon boat. Kitchen was lacking fry pans and we had to buy batteries for the TV remotes, there were no batteries in them. Also a bit of a bug problem on the bottom floor. But, overall it was a great place!

While our mattress in the upper master bedroom was fine. There were a couple in other rooms that our kids complained about bowing in the middle. Overall a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The kids had a blast. The only thing that needs replacement is the grill. The resort facilites are average with a small indoor pool (we visited in spring). Summer may be different. However, who needs the resort facilities when you have everything right in the house. This is a great house for any one with a very large family or two families.

We stayed at A Lake Escape in July with my family of four plus my Mother, Sister and Husband from PA. The bedrooms on multiple floors were a great asset as everyone had their own space, especially for the teenagers. We had a lot fun with the hot tub, games, boats and the fire pit at night. It was extremely hot during our stay but the A/C kept us nice and cool. I would recommend this house for any large family vacation.

Great Family Get-Away
Pat B. from Laurel, MD recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in July, 2010
The house was spacious, clean, and well stocked with cooking needs, linens, washer and dryer, other amenities. The location is near (short car ride) swimming pool, minigolf, golf course, etc. Adults and children enjoyed the dock, tree swing into the water, and the boat. The lake in the cove is safe for swimmers to jump into, splash around in, and even swim across (with adults watching, of course). The small fire area for s'mores is safe and a good size. The downhill, curvy driveway was tricky to see for those arriving at night.

(2) no trashcans in bathrooms.(3)We'd love to see a few additional items in the kitchen like sharp knife and a large skillet. The location was great. The shore area was fabulous. The landscaping is gorgeous. Also we'd love to have all the beds made for us next time but I'll make that clear. Some beds were made but not many of the ones that we wanted to use.

We do provide a starter amount of toilet tissue, soap, paper towels, trash bags etc. as a convienance so the guests will not need to shop for these items on the first day of arrival. We do not supply more as each person has their own preferance of brand, etc.

A guest from Hingham, MA recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in August, 2008
We all had a great week, thank you! Being in the cove wasn't the most desirable location (no view) but we chose it because of the house. The house is gorgeous. The kitchen floor was swept but we found it filthy when we started cleaning on our hands and knees. Other suggestions include a bigger pot for cooking pasta and such, and sharp knives. The A/C unit upstairs gave off a burning smell everynight starting the third night. Somebody came but found nothing wrong with it. It was unnerving to smell that so most nights we turned off the system. We loved having the use of the resort. It helped make up for the low water level in the cove. If the water level had been higher we would have been able to use the cove for swimming and the rope swing which the kids were dying to try out. We also loved the boat and used it several times. Thanks for a great week overall and for listening to our suggestions.

The note below is from my brother-in-law, who you were working with during our rental period with the various issues/problems we had. Needless to say, we had plenty of both. I am sure we can resolve the issues we had:As expected when I dropped off the keys I was asked if we had a great time and would we be coming back again. I told the young lady that it was great to have the family together for sure but there were definitely issues with the house that were very disappointing. She said; Kim the rental property manager, would be calling the contact number on file, on Monday. I think you are the only number on file. Below is a recap if you want to bother with this (read my recap beforedeciding) recap of the issues:1. The refrigerator was broken upon arrival and we spent days shuffling food back n forth from the house frig to the utility room frig (which we weren't even supposed to have access to) to keep our food from spoiling. Worse yet, we had to convince the rental property associates that the frig was in fact broken before a repair man would be contacted - that was a nearly two day effort. For sure the frig is still not working properly. If the frig is not kept on 'max cool' it does not keep up. 2. Pre-existing electrical problems: the light/electric in the kids room were not functioning. When we called on this one we were told that the fuse box was in a locked closet that we did not have access to. We later found it in the utility room that we were not supposed to have access to and fixed this issue ourselves. To make matters worse we found a note from a previous renters explaining the exact same

We enjoyed our stay at Lake Escape last year, we're also booking it for 2008. This is a very nice vacation home.

Fireballs, Snakes and Harassment from the Locals
A guest from Cary, NC does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2007
The house is gorgeous and the layout of the house could not be better. However, the stove emmitted face high fire balls and was a hassle to get repaired for our long weekend encouter where we planned to cook every meal since grocery stores are a hike to get to from Lake Lure. So, we used the grill. However, we soon found out when we took the boat on the Lake that the locals do not welcome people not from 'round here and were kind enough to stop the boat within minutes of being on the Lake on the pretense of checking for life preservers, breathilizers for the drivers and stopped short of a full body cavity check.....which seemed absurd for a group of 40 year olds with a bunch of kids....we are not college kids getting trashed on the lake. So, after two bad experiences at Lake Lure, we have found another lake in NC that welcomes visitors and we go there. Lake Lure needs to figure out if they are going to embrace tourism (and the tourism dollar) or have a redneck mentality by trying to prohibit people from renting their properties to outsiders. We found it to be the later. We feel sorry for other people who come to Lake Lure. We also were charged for things that were broken and it took the management company literally 5 months to give us our money we will not rent from you in the future. We renter Bald Mountain Lodge the time before and the owner's brother who lived next door hassled us during our entire stay and even insisted that he conduct a tour of the property to some of his friends while we were staying there. It was utterly ridiculous!!
