Resort: City with 63'000 inhabitants in the south-western part of the region, 2 km south-east from San Roque, 2 km south-west from Sotogrande, 100 km south-west from Mßlaga. All shops, restaurants etc. in the resort. For arrivals by plane: airport Gibraltar (GIB) 11 km, Mßlaga (AGP) 100 km. One of the youngest cities in Spain, sat on the sandy isthmus joining the Gibraltar rock to the coast, at the side is the bay of Algeciras, between Sierra CArbonera and the rock of Gibraltar. Its beaches are lapped by the Atlantic ocean and the Mediterranean sea and its urban centre is full of 20th century buildings. To visit: Parroquia de la Inmaculada, "Pepe Cabrer" bullfighting museum, Gibraltar and the "Mercado de la Concepcion" (noted fish and seafood market). In the centre, a large area is pedestrianised, with lots of shops, businesses, shopping centres and large buildings. Note the fiesta de la Inmaculada Concepcion (city patron), Carnaval, San Juan and the traditional July Fair (popular Andalucian festival).
