Location was fantastic but rugs, furniture, corners are dirty A guest from Arlington, VA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 14 days in July, 2012 It?s hard to complain much about a house right on the beach and close to everything but when the best things about the place are all outside - the deck on the beach, the back porch, and the new outside shower - it could use some improvements. The house is an old cabin - very rustic but charming with wonderful high wooden ceilings and real wood (not wood paneling) throughout. The décor seems from the early 70s - not a big deal but just dated. The kitchen, though not recently updated, was good. All the appliances worked (except for the light in the fridge ? annoying). There are two pantries in the kitchen full of years-old items.The rest of the house isn?t exactly dirty - it just looks like it is! The cleaners did the best they could with what they had to work with. There is a dust/dirt-covered fireplace cover, years of embedded dirt on the walls, in the corners, and on the wood floors, and stains in the indoor showers (no one used them because they were too dark and gross). The white couches are so old that the floral pattern is worn off on the front and the cushions are dirty and grey. The rugs are so old and disgusting that I didn?t want my kids to sit on them (we didn?t bring any pets with us). The furniture is functional and mostly clean. The beds are comfortable and the duvets, blankets, and pillows, though old, were clean and usable. The set up of two bedrooms is bizarre - they are connected by a bathroom but there's no door from the bathroom to the hallway. The old outdoor shower is mildewed and dark but we used it a few times. The new shower is awesome!One of the twin beds was missing when we arrived (Carolina Shores put in a rollaway for us), the washer didn't work on the very first load and had to be fixed, and there are no beach toys or functional umbrellas. The kids can?t play in the sand underneath the house because there are cacti and dog poop left from previous renters ? so gross!!
