Whale watch, swim and snorkel, walk miles on the beach and watch the most amazing sunsets imaginable. There are 15 acres of lush tropical landscaping, waterscapes, and fountains. In addition there is a large pool, two hot tubs, a toddler pool, 10 barbecue areas and tennis courts.
Kamaole Sands is centrally located and is in walking distance to shops, restaurants and activities. It is also minutes from the championship golf courses of Wailea and Makena.
Kamaole Sands #8102 is a ground floor 1 Bedroom 2 Bath unit that has a nice and private location in the complex. It has a large lanai that is surrounded by lush tropical foliage. Having the use of boogie boards, towels, sand toys and beach chairs.Unit Needs:1. A much better sofa bed. This one is absolutely terrible. Our teenager was uncomfortable on it and there is no way 2 adults could use it.2. The shower curtain hooks in the master bath need to be changed. They fall off every time the curtain is open and closed.3. Would be nice to have a couple of additional pillows in the room.4. A kettle.I would stay in this unit again and definitely recommend it to friends and family. The unit we rented was very private and the building structure keeps the noise to a minimum from adjacent units. 'Attitude and Feel' are important to us and Kam Sands attracts a clientele that isn't dancing around trying to fit every activity under the sun in, in 10 days, or walking around with four drinks in their hands at all times. If you want a casual, friendly (not phony friendly) atmosphere then check this place out. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2012 This condo complex was a great choice - the pool was nice, the location was a short walk to the restaurants, ice cream and gift shops, not to mention the beach was across the street. We used the community grill, the ping pong table and wish we'd had time for tennis.Having two bathrooms was great and the outside space was nice. This is ground level so there is a bit of a lose of privacy since anyone can walk right by you on your patio. For the price and the ease of reserving this is a great unit. What I thought would be an easy process of asking the front desk to let us in turned into a $70 locksmith cost as Coldwell Banker, the renter of the unit and not Kamaole Sands, could not be reached on their "emergency phone number". If you are planning to stay at Kamaole Sands, do not go through Coldwell Banker as the front desk's reponse to everything was "it's not our unit". Maui vacation at Kamaole Sands A guest from Victoria, BC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 8 days in January, 2012 This unit was most disappointing. The unit was dark, dreary, and the private lanai smelled constantly of garbage and could not be used. The linens on the master bed were polyester...very poor. The patio backed on to the road which was at times noisy, but we could not use the patio anyway due to the garbage odour. The next visitors saw two mice which we did not encounter. The bedroom window would only open on one side. The mirrors in both bathrooms were very low so you could not see properly in either bathroom, which made it difficult for my husband to shave. The hall carpets did not look clean. The unit was in a poor location in the overall development. We were pleased with the Kamaole Sands pools, bbq pits, and the beautiful grounds. They all were very well kept. The Kamaole Sands was well situated and was a good choice for a family holiday with young children. We were fortunate that we had another unit to go to during the day where most of our family stayed. This unit did have a nice view and reasonable lanai. I would certainly never recommend this particular unit. If we had not rented an additional unit for the holiday we would have asked to be changed to another unit. When we spoke to the front office about our concerns they were not interested, although we did rent from Coldwell Banker so the front office had nothing to do with our rental arrangements. The front office was a bit offhand with our concerns. The next visitors to this unit insisted on being relocated. As mentioned, we only slept in this unit. We had intended to have a few meals there but it was just too depressing to be in the unit. Not much of a holiday! The only comment would be to add some supplies in kitchen for baggies, freezer bags, foil or saran wrap. Also we were disappointed that there were no chairs or umbrella to take to beach. I will ensure to clarify this on my next trip to Maui thru VRBO. Everything else was perfect. We definately would rent this unit again and will suggest it to others. Building is older so doors are a bit narrow(unable to move a crib from one room to another). Kitchen is well supplied. Lovely to have a washer and dryer available in the condo. The towels, though clean, were still damp on our arrival. Would be helpful to have a clothes rack to dry clothes on on lanai rather than hanging them over chairs or using the electric dryer.
