Excellent Hawaiian Retreat A guest from Newport, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in April, 2013 We enjoyed our stay at this very nice and well furnished home. Our only disappointment was the inability to close the sliding doors on the "3rd" bedroom. This made it a little difficult for our children to sleep at night.Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed the location and the use of the hotel amenities program. Some of the nicest beaches in Hawaii are in this area and were where we spent the majority of our time. There are excellent snorkeling sites on the edges of both Hapuna and Mona Kea Beaches.At night, it was nice to come back to a comfortable home where we grilled fresh fish and enjoyed the sunsets. The pool is an added bonus, particularly for the little ones, who can't seem to get enough water time.If you are looking for shave ice and or a fresh fish market, drive a few miles north to the town of Kawaihae. The house had everything you need and more. The location is incredible and it was a bonus to sit in the hot tub each night with my kids and discuss the days events. Our stay at Grandma's Castle A guest from Saratoga, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2012 The main issue was that the listing said that the house had two king beds. When we arrived, the house had one king bed and one queen, plus the advertised trundle bed. We are all tall people and my son in law is very tall and no way would we have ever rented a property with a queen bed. When we called the rental agent, he was not going to do anything, till we showed him on his own web site that it said it had TWO KING BEDS. My daughter graciously said that she could sleep on a blow up bed, which the rental agent did bring out to the house. THe house is lovely and the view is wonderful. There are at least 3 things in the house that needed repair and the repair man came out but he couldn't fix any of them. Also, and I forgot to advise the rental agent when we left, the dishwasher does not clean the dishes. It goes on and goes through the cycle but the dishes were never clean. We did have a great time tho. The pool and the hot tub are wonderful. And the location is perfect. But we could not rent there again because of the bed sizes. Grandma's Castle is ideally located, with great views and a quiet environment. The house is spacious, the bedding extremely comfortable, the bathrooms very nice and the quality of the appliance is very high. Our sole regret was to leave this paradise after only 6 days ; we would have enjoyed a much longer stay.
