Welcome to our two bedroom two bath tropical condo at one of the most popular complexes in Kona. The master bedroom has a comfortable king bed, and the second bedroom has twins. There are 2 full baths, complete kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and everything else you could possibly need for a complete meal if you choose to dine at home. A washer/dryer and air conditioner in both bedrooms as well as the living room. This complex includes a sparkling oceanfront pool, hot tub, 3 barbeques, tennis court, and lush landscaping through-out. Just a short distance from Magic Sands Beach a local body surfing favorite and Kahalu'u Beach Park known for sea turtle viewing and snorkeling. Big Island shopping, golfing, deep-sea fishing, open markets and nearby restaurants. This is a non-smoking condo. There is a 3 night minimum/10 nights during Christmas Holiday & Ironman.W -01

After 6 weeks in Hawaii, we thought it would be tough to leave. Luckily, our last 4 days were spent in this condo, making us very happy to get out of there. Faults include tile baseboard coming loose in kitchen, sour smell throughout the apartment, lumpy pillows, and the vertical blinds were missing many slats. The view consists of a parking lot to the north and the side of the next building to the west. In the future, if I couldn't do better than this place, I would'nt go to Hawaii.

We stayed in this unit for 7 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Kona Maki is a great property and this unit had everything we needed for a perfect vacation. The staff was professional and helpful, especially with arranging a late checkout on departure day. The condo was nicely furnished, well situated close to the ocean and pool, and clean. We will definitely consider staying in this unit again.

Good location and complex, but unit needs some work

The complex is in a good location and a relatively easy (approx. 1.5 mi.) walk to town (along the shoulder of the road; bring a flashlight). There?s a lovely ocean view from the complex and the whales frequently put on quite a show right off shore. For what we paid, we didn't expect luxury, and were okay to work around a few problems (and the realities of being an end unit located near the parking area). The unit needs a maintenance tune-up. The owners obviously tried to make it welcoming, but things are falling behind. There was no phone, the kitchen faucet is installed backwards, drapes in the living room and one bedroom don't close properly (no complete privacy), the hot/cold water settings in one shower are reversed, the washer won't do cold water, one of the big mirrored closet doors is off its rails, Wi-Fi is spotty ... and the bugs are having a party in the dishwasher. But in the end, they were all quirks and annoyances that didn?t take anything away from a fabulous holiday.

Very nice complex , but the unit we stayed in needs some renos and repairs. Also there is no ocean view from unit. The upside to this is by not having a view you get some extra privacy.

This is the third time we have rented at this complex and found it comfortable and secure, the staff are first rate. We were a little disappointed in our unit, although it was clean and comfortable it's a a little dated and could us some updating. Also because of the unit's location [next to the parking lot]it was a bit noisy in the morning, but that said we will stay there again and could & would recommend it for anybody vacationing in Kona.

Good Price But Not The Best If You Have Kids

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights with our 2 kids (3 years old and 9 months old). We liked having a first floor unit for getting the kids and groceries in and out easily. We also liked the lanai as it provided a good level of privacy with all the landscaping around it, but still allowed older people walking by to adore and comment on our cute kids. The exterior carpet on the lanai was really rough on our crawling baby?s toes though (took the skin right off one toe after 10 minutes of crawling around), so you should definitely put socks on your baby before letting them crawl around on the lanai. There is no ocean view from the lanai, but it wasn?t a deal killer considering the ocean is a 3 minute walk away.The pool area is not so kid / baby friendly. The pool doesn?t open until 9 AM and that is strictly enforced by the onsite property manager. No kids under 14 are allowed in the hot tub either. Again, this is strictly enforced. There are also signs posted around the pool saying ?No babies under 2 years old allowed in the pool?.
