It was well equipped with everything we needed for our two week stay. Pictures cannot do justice to the views from the lanai, and we enjoyed our morning coffee there every morning. The location, which is about a mile south of the Kailua pier was a perfect base for our excursions north and south for sightseeing and snorkeling. The geckos and birds were a delight, and the two swimming pools were wonderful. We barbequed every night while viewing the sunset. The residents and vacationers that we met at Casa De Emdeko were friendly and congenial. We will definitely be back. The complex is older and under forms of renovation, but is within walking distance of commercial aspects of Kona. Two pools to choose from and a little man-made beach to enjoy. I was attracted by the advertised daily rate, but then they add on an extra $130 cleaning fee AND you must sign that you agree to do all of the 'excess' laundry before you leave. It was exactly as displayed in the VRBO listing. The property management company was right on the ball when we had a small issue with our toilet and were there within 1/2 hour to fix it. The only complaint we had the whole two weeks were that the residents of the complex were very cold and unfriendly but this is by no means the fault of the condo. We found the other people (renters, like ourselves) friendly and helpful. My only suggestion to them was to provide driving directions to grocery stores as people like us, to the island for the first time, have no idea how to get there from the address that was provided. Beautifully furnished & updated condo, interior courtyard is clean and lush with tropical flowers/foliage, pools clean & inviting. To get to your front door, however, is a disgustingly dirty elevator, garbage that stayed in an ashtry by the elevators for 7 days (yes, we counted) as well as 3 dead cockroaches on the walk to your door for those same 7 days. Why? Our last day it was cleaned up & even the lobby floor was polished -- we learned that a board meeting was taking place in a few days. Use drop cloths under painting would be more professional, also, as there are many blobs from sloppy painting. Perhaps a "Schedule of Chores" would be helpful....... Again, the condo and furnishings were outstanding, interior courtyard was heavenly; hopefully this changes. Everything is clean and in good condition. Just looking at the condo, you can tell that the owners have put a lot of time and effort into remodeling and decorating the condo. It was beautiful. My parents stayed in another condo a couple of doors down and had a completely opposite experience. I am really glad we chose this condo. The property management company made sure we had all of there contact information in case something went wrong (of course it did not). The woman was rude and verbally abusive to not only us but another man and his daughter at the pool; yelling from her balcony and causing quite a scene on two different occasions. When we contacted management they indicated this was an ongoing issue with the woman and he had referred it to the board. We also contacted the property manager for the unit and it seems this has been an issue for some time. We would not stay here again. We asked for a one night rental fee back for our troubles, but no compensation was given.
