Loving the Big Island from downtown Kailua-Kona A guest from Grants Pass, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in March, 2013 We stayed in a "hidden" little treasure right behind Alii, the main street through Kona, called Kona Plaza. Although not on the water and no gorgeous green lawns or landscaping, this condo was perfect in its location and interior amenities. The unit was clean, it was well furnished (except the couch, which is low and hard to sit on; and a few rugs which need to be replaced), and the lanai faced north and was fully screened in. So we left the sliding doors open all the time and had a huge area for sitting and enjoying the outdoors. Everyone you might need was there including beach chairs, towels, books, CD's, television, fully equipped kitchen, and even a water feature. The complex was configured like an apartment dwelling, and the pool was a short walk from the unit, but the pool was clean and large and surrounded by lots of outdoor furniture. We were a short walk through a passageway to Alii Drive and all the shopping, eating and people watching you might need. You can walk to everything, even the local Walmart. The Joy of Kailua-Kona A guest from Bellevue, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 28 days in February, 2013 We found the property to be just what we wanted, in town, close to shops and beaches, very quiet at night being on the side of the facility as opposed to the front. The owners library and the condo library provided many hours of reading. WE enjoyed the view of the daycare/preschool next door, and the screened in lanai was like an extra room; all our meals were eaten there. It is one of the largest lanais we have ever come across. Thw location of the farmer's market was ideal, just a two block walk so that we were able to get fresh fruit every morning they were open.
