See all the way to the Marmara Sea to the Prince Islands and Topkapki Palace in Sultanahmet.

As a travel writer who has rented apartments all over the world, I chose this flat in Istanbul based on what I know global travelers like. Authenticity with all the comforts of home and easy access to all the tourist sites - and a view that reminds you at all times of where you are. Minus the crowds and high prices that go with being in the middle of a tourist zone.

This is a 5th floor (4th floor Euro) flat without elevator in a rustic historic building surrounded by the bustling colorful Galata neighborhood. Look out at astounding views of Topkapki Palace from the salon, and nearly 360 degrees vu from the shared roof terrace. Hop on a tram and be in Sultanahmet in minutes. Or the opposite direction to Tunel and Istiklal - the heart of Istanbul's best dining and entertainment and shopping.

The rooftop terrace just one floor up sports a view and outdoor dining area with cooking facilities most visitors to Istanbul can only dream about. Dine outside with a view of Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, and the Bosphorus. A great place to entertain. Or simply be still with a glass of wine watching the seagulls circle the mosques in the moonlight.

Configuration is 2 enclosed bedrooms, 1 with queen bed, 1 with double, and a 3rd bedroom divided off by curtains containing 2 twin beds. There is a fold out couch in the living room which can double as another bed.

Bathrooms: In typical Istanbul fashion, the toilet has its own room, and the shower and sink are in a separate room.

Kitchen - large and fully stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal. If it isn't there, ask my manager and she will bring it.

The neighborhood: Just one block from Galata Tower. Kabob stands, Turkish music instrument stores, just up the hill from Galata Bridge which leads you to Sultanahmet with its glorious mosques and palaces and the Grand Bazaar. Restaurants and cafes abound in the neighborhood. A five minute walk up the hill and you are at the center of vibrating Istanbul life - Istiklal Ave. And just down the hill from Tunel with the city's best live entertainment and dining. A short walk to the tram and the Galata Bridge.

This 3 bedroom flat on the fourth floor of a typically "old" building has a modern kitchen, a marble hamam-like bathroom, antique tile and wood plank floors throughout and antique doors. There are two enclosed bedrooms with the third bedroom (2 single beds) located in an alcove off the living room. Curtains can be pulled shut on the alcove for privacy.

Ceiling fans throughout, air conditioning, and radiant heat. Everything you need: wireless internet, stereo, telephone, luxury linens, telephone, digital satellite tv, and a fully equipped kitchen is included.

Note: the building is typical Istanbul - old with no elevator...Our flats on the fifth floor as well as the roof terrace have recently been updated and renovated and are very comfortable, safe, and includes all the conveniences you will need. The views from the roof terrace are worth the stairs!

Located just next door to our 2 bedroom flat Terrace #1 and across the hall from our gorgeous view 2+ bedroom Terrace #3. Mix and match flats to accommodate large groups. Or add a bedroom, bathroom & kitchenette by adding the studio flat on the floor adjacent to the roof terrace for an additional $80 per night.

40% off regular rates for the winter (Nov 1 - Apr 1), except holidays (Dec 20-Jan 5) which are priced at regular rates. Rates are based on 1-4 people. Each extra person is $15 more per night. One-time cleaning/prep fee is $70 and you can have a driver waiting for you at the airport to bring you directly to the flat for only $45 from Ataturk, $70 from Sabiha Airport.
