Capital city of the Highlands, Inverness is situated on the River Ness which leads into the famous Loch Ness - home of the infamous illusive monster. It offers beautiful river walks, a sports centre, ice rink, museum, art gallery, castle, cathedral, 3 golf courses. Above the city lies Craig Phadrig, once the stronghold of Pictish Kings, with interesting forest walks and great views of the Moray Firth and its wildlife including bottlenose dolphins which can be seen from the shore or on trips available from harbours along the coast.
