Location was good for our needs, which involved a conference at the Hilton and Convention Center. Sluggish response from manager when I needed a receipt though. Communication seemed disjointed and not very personal. Staying here saved our group a lot of money versus hotel rooms. Stayed for 4 days in January, 2012 Overall, the unit is in a good location, walking distance to shops, restaurants and beach. However, the unit needs remodeling soon. Furniture is fairly old and be careful about the dinning chairs which my finger got cut from one of them. You cannot open the windows ? locked and no screen. Please check dishes and utensil in the kitchen. The dishwasher does not clean everything. The water in the master bathroom did not work properly. We can not control the water temperature. It's quite inconvenience. Overall, if you travel in budget, it may be one of the choices in Wakiki. Aloha Hawaii Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 29 days in December, 2011 Overall our stay was satisfactory. The hot water levels fluctuated radically making it unsafe for the children to shower. The tub in the main bath needs resurfacing making bathing an unpleasant necessity. The dishwasher such a low grade that it didn't clean therefore dishes in cupboard were dirty when we arrived. These are quick and easy fixes that would have made the stay an excellent one. We would choose the Hawaiian Monarch again with these improvements in mind. Thanks for a great visit to Hawaii. Please clean the top of the valance between kitchen and dining room. Location....But dated Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 12 days in October, 2011 The location of the rental was perfect. Right on the edge of Waikiki and Honolulu. The building it is in has a bit of a run down feel to it and the plumbing in the rental was not the greatest (slow drains, hot/cold spirts) I do account these to the building as they were attempting to fix things during my stay. The building was conviently located and the penthouse offered a fabulous view of Honolulu; especially at night. The rooms were spacious and the layout suited our needs well. There was an ample supply of towels, chairs and other beach equipment. We also enjoyed the use of the outdoor barbecue at the pool. The plumbing, kitchen cabinets, and decor need to be updated and/or refurbished. The linen in the master bedroom was ripped and the cleanliness of the unit needs to be improved. There was some difficulty in terms of contacting management. Our keys initially didn't work, and we were not able to contact a representative easily. Also, no one informed us we had to register. Once we got these details resolved, we had a great vacation without complication. We are extremely happy with our accommondations.
