With 701 sq.ft. plus a large, open lanai with table and chairs, the condo has tile floors throughout. The living room has a 42? flat screen TV, DVD player, dining table with 4 chairs and queen sleeper sofa. The full kitchen has a dishwasher and ice maker, and you?ll also appreciate the convenience of having a washer/dryer! Folding doors separate the living area from the bedroom with king bed. The bathroom has a shower/tub with hand-held shower wand. It?s an easy stroll to some of the best dining, shopping and entertainment venues in the newly revitalized area of Waikiki. WiFi and local calls are included with your rental. Parking onsite, subject to availability, is $18/day or $20/day at the nearby Hale Koa Hotel (all parking rates subject to change). We had a wonderful time at Waikiki Shores #1412 A guest from Renton, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 12 days in October, 2012 Waikiki Shores is at a great location next to Ft. DeRusy and Outrigger Reef hotel (the Outrigger has excellent Hawaiian music every night from 6-9). Unit #1412 is on the second-to-top floor half way between the beach and the street so doesn't get much street noise (just the buses and large trucks). The unit is spacious and well designed with lots of storage & closet space. The king size bed was very comfy. The A/C unit worked very well and its fan provided a nice backround 'white-noise' at night. The ceramic tiles were very hard on our bare feet so we had to cushion them. The vertical blinds do not keep out the morning sun (fortunately, those windows face north). The staff were very helpful during the Tsunami alert on Oct 27, 2012 (thankfully it was minor). Paul (with Capt Cook) was very helpful when we arrived and with a minor drain problem during our stay. We looked at a studio and it was about half the size of #1412 (too small for us for 12 nights). The view from the balcony over Ft DeRusy was excellent and allowed us to see the Friday night fireworks at the Hilton. The only problem we found was cigarette smoke wafting in through the balcony doors from other apartment/s. Being so close to the beach was great. It was easy to organize tours downstairs, concierge was very friendly and helpful. Grocery stores nearby and an organic supermarket a little further but worth the trip. The decor and furniture are quite old and dated. Like many condos in the islands, the decor is of the Hawaiiana style with some rattan furniture. It does not have granite kitchen counter tops nor stainless steel applianes, but the kitchen has newer white appliances and countertops. The condo is moderately priced for being a direct oceanfront property. It is very large and the views are breathtaking. It is a particular favorite with our return guests. The process on-line to reserve was simple, and the phone follow up to pay was easily handled with the help of a courteous representative from Captain Cook Resorts. The property representative who met us onsite was fantastic, as she waited patiently outside the building for us to arrive and let us into the garage after a traffic jam added 20 minutes to the normal commute into Waikiki from the airport.This unit is on the next to top floor in Waikiki Shores and the views are incredible from both inside and outside of the condo. From the entrance to the unit you have a direct unobstructed view of Diamond Head and the extra long lanai gives you both ocean and mauka views. The unit was spotless and very comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom well equipped, and the king bed slept very well. You have all the conveniences of home and a much more relaxing experience than a hotel. If we stay anywhere more than a few nights we always rent apartments or condos as they are a great value compared to a hotel room only. When I return I will stay here again and I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend Unit 1412 to anyone looking for a fabulous place to stay!
