This luxury vacation home with fireplace is found in Heiligendamm, on the Baltic Sea. On the ground floor, there are the living room, the kitchenette, and the bathroom with an attached sauna.

From the living room, you can access the sunny terrace in westerly orientation, protected behind a beech hedge, which is a great place to sunbathe or barbecue in summer. The fully equipped kitchen offers everything needed to prepare nice meals.

Two rooms are found upstairs, a bedroom and a small room which can be used as children’s room or second bedroom. Car parking is provided at the house and also possible on a small public parking lot on our road.

The house is very well suited for couples or family looking for calm and relaxation in beautiful natural surroundings. Fortunately, Heiligendamm is located a ways from the usual tourist haunts, but in idyllic setting and convenient.

Utilities (electricity at 25 cent/kWh and heating at 10 cent/kWh) are charged at cost, water is included in rental fee.

An additional service we recommend is the laundry package (with bed sheets and towels) for EUR 13 per person.

As a registered spa town, stays in Heiligendamm incur tourist tax, to be paid at the Tourist Information (EUR 1.50 between May and September, 0.75 between October and April).

Deposit of EUR 50, handed back upon check-out, minus cost of utilities.

In peak season, check-in is normally on Saturdays from 3 p.m., check-out before 10:30 a.m. Outside of peak season, dates can be arranged much more flexibly.

Short-term stays (e.g. a long weekend) from three days are possible outside of peak season, with the added advantage that you can check-in in the morning and check-out later, giving you almost am extra day. Bookings of two days, however, in cur an additional fee of EUR 15.

Out of respect for other guests, pets are not allowed in the house, as is smoking.

For people planning to travel in larger groups, there is a possibility to rent neighboring houses as well.

Should you feel the need to go online, there are two public internet cafés in Doberan, one in the Moorbad (Schwaaner Chaussee 2, T. 038203-930), the other in the city library (Verbindungsstraße 6, T. 8). You could also head for the internet café in Kühlungsborn (Strandstraße 36, T. 3).

Further Info about the Vacation Home Heiligendamm
The house offered is the middle of a series of three row houses completed in 2006. They are built as completely self-contained town houses, each with its separate entrance, on two levels. The architecture very nicely combines the classic style of Baltic Sea resorts and modern construction.

The houses are located in the Gartenstrasse, a little-used residential road in Heiligendamm. The house is without unnecessary adornment, not only outside but also inside, where high-quality materials and simple colors are predominant. On the ground floor, one finds the living room, the fitted kitchen and the bathroom with adjacent sauna. The upper floor holds the bedroom and an additional room.

All three rooms cover a floor space of 65 sq.m., designed to appeal to guests who value almost luxurious comfort and high standards as well as good design.

In 2008, the house was officially classified as a four star-accommodation - and only a washing machine was missing for the fifth star!

Even in bad weather, the fireplace and sauna make for a cozy atmosphere indoors, so that our guests can feel comfortable in any season.

This unit is located conveniently near Rostock Laage Airport. From Rostock Laage Airport the distance to the unit at Gartenstraße 4B 4, 18209 Heiligendamm is about 40 km (25.0 miles), approximately a 54 minutes drive by car. In addition, there are good public transportation options available for Heiligendamm, in case you don't want to rent a car. At the top of this page is also a map with the exact location of the object.

Location:
This home is in the middle of three rows of a housing development completed in 2006 in Heiligendamm, a resort community on the Baltic Sea, just northwest of Bad Doberan. Each townhouse has its own entrance and is built on two levels.

The houses are located in the small Gartenstrasse, a residential area with little traffic, directly in beautiful Heiligendamm. The village – really a district of Bad Doberan – is in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, close by Rostock. To be exact: between Bad Doberan itself and Kühlungsborn, directly on the Baltic Sea coast.

The beautiful beach is only 500 meters from the house. The water quality is excellent.

Surroundings:
The house is only 300 meters away from a railway station for the legendary steam-engine train "Molli." Shops are found in the immediate vicinity and in nearby Bad Doberan and Kühlungsborn, which has the flair of a more urban resort town. In Rostock, which is only 18 km away, you find the complete range of city facilities.

Services in Detail
During the cold times of the year, the floor heating will be turned up before your arrival, so that the apartment will greet you with cozy warmth.

You will receive the key in person at the apartment, so that we can show you how to operate some of the facilities (sauna, hearth, kitchen, etc.) and can answer any questions you may have.

On request, we will provide towels and nice new bed sheets.

The kitchen will of course be equipped with basic foodstuffs (e.g. spices, oil and vinegar, flour and sugar).

In cooperation with the Median-Clinic in Heiligendamm and the Moorbad (mud bath) in the neighboring Bad Doberan, wellness vacations can be organized according to your personal wishes.

For small children (up to six years), there are some videotapes and toys, as well as a children’s high chair. A children’s bike (18 inches) and two pushboards are available to use for free.

A buggy is also available for your use; depending on rental type, a mountain bike and a normal men’s bike (if needed, with child seat) will also be included.

How to Get Here by Car:
From Hamburg:
Take A1 to intersection Lübeck, where you change to A20 and continue to the Bad Doberan exit. Exit towards Bad Doberan (~15 km). My recommendation is not to follow the signposted route around the town, but to continue for 1 km into town, and then follow the signs towards Heiligendamm. In Heiligendamm, turn left onto Gartenstrasse about 200 m after the city limits, crossing the railway tracks. After some 150 m, the houses are at the bend in the road (on the left), the parking spots are at the garden house which can be seen from afar.

From Berlin:
Take A19 towards Rostock to the Rostock intersection. Change to A20 towards Lübeck and continue to the Bad Doberan exit. Exit towards Bad Doberan (~15 km). How to Get Here, by Train:
First, get to Rostock (Intercity route), where you change to the regional train which will get you to Bad Doberan in 30 minutes. Then, the romantic part of the journey begins: In another 20 minutes, the historic steam train “Molli” gets you to Heiligendamm. From its train station, the house is easily reached on foot.

How to Get Here by Plane:
The airport Rostock-Laage is about 35 minutes away and is serviced from Munich and Cologne/Bonn by national regular flights.

Heiligendamm – the “White City by the Sea”
Count Friedrich Franz I., the founder of Heiligendamm, dreamt of a luxury resort town like the British Brighton, with hotel, villas, casino and horse racing. With the opening of the larger spa in 1796, the rise to a first class resort town began; the ‘party society’ of the day gladly came: Russia’s Czar Peter I., Lord Nelson, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Rainer Maria Rilke walked the promenade, Feldmarschall Blücher, the “Hero of Waterloo” was attracted to the casino and, as a chronicler reported, “risked and won as usual.”

Those who came to Heiligendamm at the beginning of the 20th century were certainly of higher class, and the town was Germany’s most high-class resort town even until the end of World War II. The GDR declared the town a sanatorium for the workers, which did not do it too well – but at least the 19th century classicism remained intact better than anywhere else.

Traveling to the Baltic Sea coast was still a problem back then. Thus, the railway connection from Bad Doberan to Heiligendamm and then on to Kühlungsborn was constructed in 1886.

The steam-operated “Molli”, a nostalgic small-gauge train, still carries the passengers over the 15.4 km through narrow roads, past meadows and fields.

In the meantime, the sea resort has been revived, with lots of money used towards the restoration of its former flair.

Almost the entire town, spa resort, hotel, and a number of villas in Classicist style, was bought by the Fundus Group, which had already brought the Berlin hotel “Adlon” back to former glory, in 1997. Restoration work was done everywhere; in 2003, the reopening was celebrated in the renovated Grand Hotel.

Another highlight of Heiligendamm is the sea bridge, leading 200 m out. The bridgehead offers an excellent view of the various buildings in town which were constructed in Classicist style between 1814 and 1870.

In 2007, the G8 meeting took place in Heiligendamm, and the whole world got to see the small but beautiful town.

And now?

In the summer of 2010, the reconstruction of the “pearl necklace,” the sea resort’s landmark, was scheduled to begin according to reports of the “Welt.” 70 million Euro were earmarked for the renovation of the seven beach villas, or so head of FUNDUS, Anno August Jagdfeld, stated.

The house “Perle” was to be the first that would be reconstructed to original design, but with modern standards of insulation, etc., e.g. using concrete that would keep humidity from damaging the building.

The start of construction work was promised for a few years ago, but had to be delayed. Two of the formerly white villas, “Möwe” and “Schwan” had
